Sikora Wells Appel<\/strong><\/a>\uff1aThe Delaware Technical Community College (DTTC) Stanton Courtyard project is a renovation of an existing space. Previously, the courtyard was unattractive, underutilized and lacked a sense of place. The improved courtyard has become an important new hub on the campus as well as a popular place for students, facility and visitors to sit, gather and spend time outside.<\/p>\n

\u8bbe\u8ba1\u56e2\u961f\u91c7\u7528\u7efc\u5408\u96e8\u6c34\u7ba1\u7406\u7b56\u7565\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u4f7f\u7528\u900f\u6c34\u94fa\u88c5\u3001\u53ef\u6e17\u900f\u6c60\u548c\u96e8\u6c34\u82b1\u56ed\uff0c\u4ee5\u5e2e\u52a9\u7f13\u89e3\u573a\u5730\u73b0\u5b58\u7684\u6392\u6c34\u95ee\u9898\u3002\u96e8\u6c34\u82b1\u56ed\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5f70\u663e\u4e86\u96e8\u6c34\u7ba1\u7406\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u6027\uff0c\u5e76\u5c06\u5176\u529f\u80fd\u6027\u5143\u7d20\u5de7\u5999\u5730\u8f6c\u5316\u4e3a\u7279\u8272\u666f\u89c2\u6559\u80b2\u533a\u3002<\/p>\n

The project team incorporated integrated stormwater management strategies including the use of permeable pavements, infiltration basins and rain gardens to help mitigate the existing drainage problems. The design of the rain garden celebrates the importance of stormwater management and transforms a functional element into a beautiful and educational feature.<\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u4e2a\u88ab\u4e24\u5c42\u5efa\u7b51\u5305\u56f4\u7684\u5ead\u9662\u9762\u79ef\u7ea6\u4e3a13000\u5e73\u65b9\u82f1\u5c3a\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u8303\u56f4\u5305\u62ec\u5f7b\u5e95\u62c6\u9664\u73b0\u6709\u7684\u4eba\u884c\u9053\u3001\u5899\u58c1\u3001\u53f0\u9636\u3001\u7167\u660e\u548c\u666f\u89c2\uff0c\u521b\u9020\u51fa\u4e00\u4e2a\u5168\u65b0\u7684\u5ead\u9662\u3002<\/p>\n

The courtyard space is approximately 13,000 square foot bounded on four sides by two story building facades. Scope included the complete demolition of the existing pavements, walls, steps, lighting, and landscape to create a completely new courtyard.<\/p>\n

\u65b0\u5ead\u9662\u7684\u4e3b\u8981\u7279\u8272\u4e4b\u4e00\u662f\u4f4d\u4e8e\u5ead\u9662\u4e2d\u592e\u7684\u94a2\u5236\u5929\u7bf7\uff0c\u5b83\u7684\u4e3b\u8981\u529f\u80fd\u662f\u4e3a\u4eba\u4eec\u63d0\u4f9b\u906e\u9633\u548c\u4fdd\u62a4\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e3a\u8868\u6f14\u548c\u6d3b\u52a8\u521b\u5efa\u4e00\u4e2a\u8986\u76d6\u578b\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002\u665a\u4e0a\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u9876\u68da\u4f1a\u88ab\u53d8\u5e7b\u7684LED\u5f69\u706f\u7167\u4eae\uff0c\u6539\u53d8\u6574\u4e2a\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002<\/p>\n

One of the key features of the new courtyard was the central sculptural steel canopy. It is intended to provide both shade and protection from the elements, as well as create a covered space for performances and events. The canopy is lit with changeable LED colored lights that can transform the space in the evening.<\/p>\n

Other courtyard improvements included terraced wood benches, a raised wood deck that doubles as performance space, a dining terrace, a bluestone patio with movable seating, an outdoor classroom, a rain garden with footbridge, and lush plantings. The campus is currently undergoing several improvement projects to upgrade and expand their facilities to be more efficient, progressive and sustainable. The intent of the new courtyard was to activate the space and provide more comfortable places to sit and gather as well as reinforce DTTC \u2018s campus identity as a leader in innovation and technology. Materials selected for the project were durable, low maintenance, and compatible with recent architectural improvements. The use of wood, natural stone, concrete pavers and metals along with native plantings provide dynamic juxtapositions of contemporary\/urban with informal\/natural.<\/p>\n
