In the Primary School section, the traditionally enclosed classrooms with corridors merge together in a series of large open plan spaces called Villas, each with 125 pupils in the same age group. Teachers can open their classes up to each other and share a central space called the Agora, where group activities unfold. Here, classes from both streams of the school (French and International) can collaborate and develop group projects together; preparing for the work environments of tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u5efa\u7b51\u7684\u7eff\u8272\u5f62\u5f0f\u548c\u529f\u80fd\uff0c\u4e3a\u6821\u56ed\u6811\u7acb\u4e86\u53ef\u6301\u7eed\u53d1\u5c55\u7684\u5178\u8303\uff0c\u800c\u6839\u636e\u5f53\u5730\u7684\u6c14\u5019\u8fdb\u884c\u4f18\u5316\u7684\u5f62\u5f0f\u548c\u7acb\u9762\u8bbe\u8ba1\uff0c\u5728\u901a\u8fc7\u88ab\u52a8\u65b9\u5f0f\u51cf\u5c11\u80fd\u6e90\u6d88\u8017\u7684\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u4e5f\u589e\u52a0\u4e86\u4e00\u5b9a\u7684\u8212\u9002\u5ea6\u3002<\/p>\n

Green in form and function, the campus sets an example in sustainability. The building form and the fa\u00e7ade designs are optimized to respond to the local climate and to decrease energy consumption and increase comfort by passive means.<\/p>\n

Claude Godefroy explains: \u201cWith its wide array of sustainable measures, ranging from the choice of materials, to the many passive designs to economize energy and ensure great daylight, to the way the school is able to share spaces with the surrounding community, the new campus of FIS offers lessons in sustainable architecture for pupils and local builders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Strategic use of daylight also supports the sustainable vision. The campus offers ample daylight in all of its spaces. In the sunny tropics, this means careful orientation of windows and robust sun shading. All the classrooms face North or South to avoid the punitive low sun from East and West, and the deep brise-soleil shade the fa\u00e7ade to avoid any direct sunlight into the spaces. The light is generous and homogenous throughout the day. The brise-soleils entirely removes the need for blinds or curtains and enables a clearer glass to be used, thus providing a more natural color of daylight in interior spaces.<\/p>\n

Natural vegetation is crucial to the campus\u2019 green function. Forty-two trees, a plant covered perimeter fence, multi-story hanging gardens and a 550 square meter botanical garden planted with native South Chinese vegetation are among the green spaces that establish the school as a lush garden within urban Hong Kong. As the vegetation improves air quality within the urban setting, ventilation systems utilize natural breezes to circulate fresh air through the building and reduce reliance on air conditioning. With ample opportunity to study, play among and cultivate these gardens, students are able to gain hands-on experience with the region\u2019s natural vegetation, fostering a sense of environmental stewardship and a practical education in sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u5b66\u6821\u7279\u8272\u7acb\u9762\u4e0a\u7684\u4e94\u5f69\u74f7\u7816\u4e5f\u662f\u5176\u5185\u90e8\u73af\u5883\u6750\u6599\u7684\u4f53\u73b0\u3002\u8272\u5f69\u7f24\u7eb7\u7684\u74f7\u7816\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e3a\u6821\u56ed\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e86\u53ef\u6301\u7eed\u7684\u5f62\u5f0f\u548c\u591a\u5143\u6587\u5316\u7684\u89c6\u91ce\uff0c\u652f\u6301\u5176\u524d\u77bb\u6027\u56fd\u9645\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u4f7f\u547d\u3002<\/p>\n

The multicolored ceramic tiles covering the French International School\u2019s distinctive fa\u00e7ade are a material representation of the environment within. A spectrum of colors, the tile design gives sustainable form and a multicultural vision to the campus, supporting its mission of a forward-thinking, international education.<\/p>\n

Offering five languages to a student body representing 40 nationalities, the French International School is an active cultural crossroad. Outside of school hours the campus also acts as a quiet and green oasis in a city with a scarcity of space. Ground floor facilities, including the gymnasium, exhibition areas, canteen and playground, can be opened to the public – Allowing the school to operate on evenings and weekends as a beacon for French culture.<\/p>\n
