B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio\uff1a<\/strong><\/a>Nowadays, an increasing amount of young people choose to leave their old houses in Hutong and settle in the new areas of the city surrounded by concrete jungles. The old city has become a rundown area full of seniors. An essential objective of this urban renewal is to bring the young generation back to live in the old city.
\nTherefore, we expect that in this renovation project, on one hand, respect the existing spatial organization of the courtyard in order to preserve its original spatial quality. On another hand, transform it into a living space that is more suitable for the contemporary lifestyle of the young generation. These are the directions that block renewal and building
\nrenovation projects aim to follow.<\/p>\n

\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u5728\u5f53\u524d\u5317\u4eac\u63a8\u52a8\u8001\u57ce\u6574\u4f53\u4fdd\u62a4\u4e0e\u590d\u5174\u7684\u80cc\u666f\u4e4b\u4e0b\uff0c\u4f17\u591a\u5efa\u7b51\u5e08\u7528\u5355\u4f53\u9662\u843d\u6216\u5355\u4f53\u5efa\u7b51\u6539\u9020\u7684\u9879\u76ee\u4f5c\u4e3a\u89e6\u5a92\uff0c\u7d27\u5bc6\u7ed3\u5408\u5f53\u5730\u5c45\u6c11\u7684\u5177\u4f53\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u8fdb\u884c\u57ce\u5e02\u66f4\u65b0\u7684\u601d\u8003\u4e0e\u63a2\u7d22\uff0c\u4ece\u800c\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u63d0\u5347\u5f53\u5730\u5c45\u6c11\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\u54c1\u8d28\uff0c\u5ef6\u7eed\u57ce\u5e02\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u8109\u7edc\u3002<\/p>\n

The site of this project is located in a historical and cultural district in Fucheng Men in which the area contains 33 traditional blocks. The project area covers approximately 37 hectares, with a gross floor area of 242,000? and about 5600 households, including 16,000 registered citizens and 13,000 inhabitants. In this area? elderlies make up 19% of the residents and immigrants make up almost 50% of the population in the region respectively. The area contains 807 courtyards, remaining over 4000 houses while 70% of them are in poor conditions. Thus in this historical block, both the living quality and building quality need urgent improvements and its cultural values will therefore be reevaluated and upgraded.<\/p>\n

Therefore, under the current context of Beijing\u2019s promotion of the overall protection and revitalisation of the old city, many architects are involved in renovation projects of single courtyard or buildings linking the real needs of the city\u2019s citizens with new forms of media in order to promote new ways of thinking and exploring the city. In this way, the living qualities of the citizens are improved while preserving and continuing the historical chain of the city\u2019s culture.<\/p>\n

This project involves the renovation of a traditional courtyard house located in the Hutong within Beijing\u2019s second ring road, covering a total area of around 250?. The aim is to turn an old and shabby courtyard into a desirable courtyard house for homestay. Regarding the specifications, the aim is to find a new way of living within the traditional Beijing courtyard house with respect to the contemporary style of living.<\/p>\n

\u5165\u53e3\u8fdb\u95e8\u9996\u5148\u662f\u4e00\u6761\u7b14\u76f4\u7684\u5eca\u9053\uff0c\u53f3\u4fa7\u662f\u5bf9\u516c\u4f17\u5f00\u653e\u7684\u5496\u5561\u9986\uff0c\u5eca\u9053\u5c3d\u5934\u662f\u5185\u9662\u7684\u5927\u95e8\u3002\u9662\u5185\u5171\u8bbe\u8ba16\u95f4\u5ba2\u623f\uff0c\u5efa\u7b51\u9762\u79ef\u4e0e\u529f\u80fd\u5e03\u5c40\u5404\u4e0d\u76f8\u540c\u3002\u5176\u4e2d\u6700\u5c0f\u7684\u623f\u95f4\u4e3a20\u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\uff0c\u6700\u5927\u7684\u623f\u95f4\u4e3a30\u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\u3002\u5176\u4e2d3\u95f4\u662floft\u683c\u5c40\u7684\u5c0f\u5ba2\u623f\uff0c\u53e6\u59163\u95f4\u4e3a\u5927\u5ba2\u623f\u3002\u4e14\u5728\u623f\u95f4\u5185\u90e8\u8272\u8c03\u6709\u6240\u533a\u5206\uff0c3\u95f4\u5ba2\u623f\u4e3a\u6d45\u8272\u8c03\uff0c3\u95f4\u5ba2\u623f\u4e3a\u6df1\u8272\u8c03\u3002\u9664\u5ba2\u623f\u5916\uff0c\u5176\u4f59\u5ba4\u5185\u7a7a\u95f4\u5747\u4e3a\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\uff0c\u65e5\u5e38\u4f5c\u4e3a\u5c55\u89c8\u7a7a\u95f4\u4f7f\u7528\u3002<\/p>\n

Firstly, the entry to the gate is a straight tunnel in which a cafe sits on its right-hand site and the gate is located at the end of the tunnel.There are a total of 6 guest rooms located within the courtyard, they are each designed with different area, function and spatial composition. The smallest guest room is 20 m2 and the largest guest room is 30 m2. 3 of the guest rooms are lofts and the another 3 are master rooms. Despite the difference in size, the rooms are also organised with different colours schemes. 3 of them have light colour tone and the other 3 have dark colour tone. Apart from the guest rooms, all other spaces are public spaces, which are available for public exhibition and display during the day.<\/p>\n

\u62c6\u9664\u52a0\u5efa\u5efa\u7b51\u540e\uff0c6\u95f4\u5ba2\u623f\u53ca\u5c55\u89c8\u7a7a\u95f4\u91cd\u65b0\u56f4\u5408\u51fa\u4e00\u4e2a\u65b9\u5f62\u5ead\u9662\u3002\u5728\u5ead\u9662\u5357\u4fa7\u4e2d\u5fc3\u4f4d\u7f6e\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u4f7f\u7528\u62c6\u9664\u539f\u6709\u5efa\u7b51\u800c\u4fdd\u7559\u4e0b\u6765\u7684\u65e7\u9752\u7816\u642d\u5efa\u4e86\u4e00\u5ea7\u697c\u68af\u5854\u3002\u987a\u201c\u5854\u201d\u76d8\u65cb\u800c\u4e0a\uff0c\u662f\u5c55\u89c8\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u5c4b\u9876\uff0c\u7ecf\u8fc7\u7ed3\u6784\u52a0\u56fa\u4e4b\u540e\u4f5c\u4e3a\u5c4b\u9876\u9732\u53f0\u3002\u5728\u5927\u6811\u7684\u5e87\u836b\u4e4b\u4e0b\uff0c\u8fd1\u53ef\u4fef\u77b0\u6574\u5ea7\u9662\u843d\uff0c\u8fdc\u53ef\u773a\u671b\u5999\u5e94\u5bfa\u767d\u5854\uff0c\u800c\u5c55\u73b0\u4f20\u7edf\u5efa\u7b51\u7fa4\u4f53\u9b45\u529b\u7684\u8fde\u7ef5\u8d77\u4f0f\u7684\u5c4b\u9876\u7acb\u9762\u4e5f\u5c3d\u5728\u773c\u524d\u3002<\/p>\n

After removing the additional illegal building components, the 6 guest rooms form a new square shape courtyard. On the southern centre of the courtyard, a new staircase tower has been built using the recycled old grey tiles from the demolished parts of the building. Following up the staircase, an exhibition space is formed on the rooftop after reinforcing the original structure of the building. Standing on the rooftop under the shadow of large trees, a panoramic view extends from the courtyard all the way to the Miaoying Temple. The magnificence and beauty of the continuous traditional buildings are fully expressed from the view of the rooftop.<\/p>\n
