TCL<\/b><\/a>\uff1aThrough a consortia of architects, led by Lyons, RMIT has undertaken a significant redevelopment of their main academic buildings and library along Swanston Street. The project addresses key issues of the precinct, including reactivating the Swanston Street frontage, providing new links from this spine through the heart of the buildings to Bowen Lane, provides new library services, delivers new informal student learning spaces and services as well as a new food and retail heart.<\/p>\n

\u7687\u5bb6\u58a8\u5c14\u672c\u7406\u5de5\u5927\u5b66\u4f5c\u4e3a\u4e00\u4e2a\u57ce\u5e02\u6821\u56ed\u4e0e\u57ce\u5e02\u808c\u7406\u76f8\u4e92\u4ea4\u7ec7\uff0c\u8fc7\u53bb20 \u5e74\u5728Peter Elliott\u7684\u7ba1\u7406\u4e0b\uff0c\u5b83\u7684\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\u5f97\u5230\u4e86\u6539\u5584\u63d0\u5347\uff0c\u4e0e\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u4e95\u7136\u6709\u5e8f\u7684\u5c0f\u5df7\u3001\u5ead\u9662\u3001\u5e7f\u573a\u548c\u957f\u5eca\u76f8\u8fde\uff0c\u6210\u4e3a\u66f4\u5927\u8303\u56f4\u5185\u57ce\u5e02\u4ea4\u901a\u4f53\u7cfb\u548c\u57ce\u5e02\u808c\u7406\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u3002<\/p>\n

RMIT is an urban campus and intertwined into the city fabric. Over the past 20 years, under the stewardship of Peter Elliott, its public spaces have been upgraded and connected with a sequence of legible lanes, courts, squares and promenades that form part of the greater city circulation structure and identity.<\/p>\n

\u4e3a\u4e86\u521b\u9020\u66f4\u5927\u7684\u8fde\u901a\u6027\u548c\u6e17\u900f\u6027\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u57fa\u4e8e\u57ce\u5e02\u7684\u5f62\u6001\u5efa\u7acb\u4e86\u4eceSwanston\u8857\u5230Bowen\u8857\u7684\u65b0\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8857\u5df7\u5728\u5c3a\u5ea6\u548c\u7528\u6750\u4e0a\u90fd\u4f53\u73b0\u4e86\u58a8\u5c14\u672c\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u7279\u8272\uff0c\u5c06\u573a\u5730\u878d\u5165\u5230\u66f4\u5e7f\u9614\u7684\u73af\u5883\u4e2d\u3002<\/p>\n

To provide greater connectivity and permeability to the campus, we used the morphology of the city to establish new connections from Swanston Street to Bowen Lane. These laneways convey a Melbourne character in both scale and materiality to stitch the site into its broader context.<\/p>\n

\u5728\u610f\u8bc6\u5230\u5fc5\u987b\u5c06\u4f20\u7edf\u4e14\u5b64\u7acb\u7684\u6559\u5b66\u57ce\u5821\u8f6c\u53d8\u4e3a\u53c2\u4e0e\u6027\u5f3a\u7684\u516c\u5171\u573a\u6240\u540e\uff0c\u6fb3\u5927\u5229\u4e9a\u7684\u591a\u6240\u9ad8\u6821\u90fd\u7ecf\u5386\u4e86\u91cd\u5927\u8f6c\u53d8\u3002\u5b66\u751f\u5728\u6821\u56ed\u91cc\u82b1\u8d39\u7684\u65f6\u95f4\u8d8a\u6765\u8d8a\u5c11\uff0c\u5bf9\u5b66\u4e60\u6210\u679c\u4ea7\u751f\u4e86\u5f71\u54cd\u3002\u73b0\u5728\u5927\u5b66\u62e5\u6709\u4e86\u66f4\u5f00\u653e\u3001\u66f4\u5438\u5f15\u4eba\u7684\u73af\u5883\u8bbe\u65bd\u4ee5\u53ca\u5bf9\u5b66\u751f\u66f4\u53cb\u597d\u7684\u7a7a\u95f4\uff0c\u4e0e\u66f4\u5e7f\u6cdb\u7684\u793e\u533a\u4e4b\u95f4\u5efa\u7acb\u8d77\u7d27\u5bc6\u7684\u8054\u7cfb\u3002<\/p>\n

Recently universities in Australia have undergone significant transformations after recognising the need to move from traditional isolated citadels to places that are engaged with the dynamism of civic life. Students are spending less time on campus with impacts on learning outcomes. Universities are now providing settings that are more open and inviting, providing more student-friendly spaces with stronger connections to the wider community.<\/p>\n

\u65b0\u5b66\u672f\u8857 (NAS) \u4e3a\u6821\u56ed\u5e26\u6765\u4e86\u4e00\u79cd\u516c\u4f17\u4f53\u9a8c\uff0c\u4e3a\u5b66\u751f\u4eec\u63d0\u4f9b\u6d3b\u529b\u3001\u793e\u4ea4\u673a\u9047\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e30\u5bcc\u591a\u5f69\u7684\u6d3b\u52a8\u7b49\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e9b\u90fd\u6b63\u4e0e\u5927\u57ce\u5e02\u7684\u529f\u80fd\u76f8\u5339\u914d\u3002Bowen\u9732\u53f0\u901a\u8fc7\u4e00\u4e2a\u5f00\u653e\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u5e73\u53f0\u5de9\u56fa\u4e86\u5176\u4f5c\u4e3a\u57ce\u5e02\u6821\u56ed\u7684\u6838\u5fc3\u5730\u4f4d\uff0c\u5e76\u4e3a\u5b66\u751f\u6d3b\u52a8\u63d0\u4f9b\u573a\u6240\u3002\u8fd9\u4e2a\u65b0\u7684\u6728\u8d28\u5e73\u53f0\u73b0\u5df2\u5316\u8eab\u4e3a\u5404\u7c7b\u6d3b\u52a8\u3001\u6bd5\u4e1a\u5e86\u5178\u3001\u5b66\u751f\u4ff1\u4e50\u90e8\u3001\u4ea4\u6613\u4f1a\u3001\u9910\u996e\u670d\u52a1\u4ee5\u53ca\u4f11\u95f2\u5a31\u4e50\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u8f7d\u4f53\u3002<\/p>\n

New Academic Street (NAS) provides a civic experience on campus, offering vibrancy, social opportunities, dynamism and changing events and character, all commensurate with great city experiences.The Bowen Terrace consolidates this precinct as the heart of the City Campus via a generous urban platform that has become a setting for student life. A new timber terrace is now host to events, graduation celebration, student clubs, markets, food and beverage services, as well as informal seating spaces.<\/p>\n

Bold custom-designed seating by TCL provides an arresting graphic and compliments the relocated Yellow Beam Arbor \u2013 a weather protection canopy originally designed by Peter Elliott. Transplanted Melias from the site are arranged to provide a central shady grove and counterpoint to the urban terrace.<\/p>\n

Adjacent laneways, active retail edges, student services and informal seating spaces contribute to a dynamic heart that replaces the previous concrete slab with limited public functions and appeal.In a campus with limited external spaces, Bowen Terrace fulfils a need that staff and students were provided a setting that fostered multiple functions from meeting, study, quiet reflection, while being flexible enough to cater for major events and ceremonies.<\/p>\n

NAS integrates roof landscapes as an intrinsic part of the multi-level development to ensure external spaces for parties, meeting, study or reflection are available at many levels of the project.An outdoor terrace and garden extend seamlessly from the redeveloped library, ensuring the NAS project overall provided 40% more student space than what was previously available.These terraces connect to adjacent roof gardens that provide yet more quiet study opportunities within a more immersive planted experience.These roof landscapes are now an integral part of the circulation structure of the New Academic Street and demonstrate best practice in sustainable green roof technology and have links to ongoing research programs.<\/p>\n
