The project is part of City of Sydney\u2019s Decentralised Water Master Plan (2012-2030), specifically focused on reducing the City\u2019s potable water demand by 10% before 2030. It is the City\u2019s largest water harvesting project to date, built in partnership with the Australian Government and seizing a once in a lifetime opportunity to use what was essentially an infrastructure project to breathe new life into the park – as a vibrant recreation and environmental asset for Sydney.<\/p>\n

\u6089\u5c3c\u5e02\u653f\u5e9c\u9080\u8bf7Turf Design Studio\u548cEnvironmental Partnership\u56e2\u961f\u53c2\u4e0e\u5230\u9879\u76ee\u4e4b\u4e2d\uff0c\u7cbe\u5fc3\u7b56\u5212\u4e86\u4e00\u573a\u8bbe\u8ba1\u3001\u827a\u672f\u3001\u79d1\u5b66\u548c\u751f\u6001\u5b66\u591a\u5b66\u79d1\u4ea4\u53c9\u7684\u2014\u2014 “\u5706\u684c\u4f1a\u8bae”\uff0c\u8fd9\u4fc3\u8fdb\u4e86\u6c34\u8d44\u6e90\u4e13\u5bb6Alluvium\u3001\u827a\u672f\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4Turpin Crawford studio<\/a>\u3001\u751f\u6001\u54a8\u8be2\u516c\u53f8Dragonfly Environmental<\/a>\u3001\u5de5\u7a0b\u5e08Partridge\u548c\u6089\u5c3c\u5f53\u5730\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u5bf9\u8bdd\u3002\u9879\u76ee\u56e2\u961f\u548c\u5ba2\u6237\u610f\u8bc6\u5230\uff0c\u8fd9\u9700\u8981\u4e00\u4e2a\u9ad8\u5ea6\u534f\u540c\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u56e2\u961f\u6765\u5145\u5206\u6293\u4f4f\u9879\u76ee\u548c\u573a\u5730\u63d0\u4f9b\u7684\u673a\u9047\u3002<\/p>\n

City of Sydney engaged a design team led by landscape architects Turf Design Studio & Environmental Partnership who orchestrated a multi-disciplinary collaboration weaving together design, art, science and ecology. The resulting \u2018roundtable\u2019 facilitated a shared design dialogue between water experts Alluvium, artists Turpin + Crawford Studio, ecologists Dragonfly Environmental, engineers Partridge and the City\u2019s own Landscape Architects. The team and client recognised that a fully integrated and collaborative design environment was required to fully realise the opportunities presented by the project and the site.<\/p>\n

After an intensive period of \u2018easing in\u2019, the water re-use project is now fully operational and intrinsically merged in its park setting. The bio-retention wetlands not only captures and cleans the measure of 340 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth, but it tells a water story through its visible ebbs and flows. The park\u2019s fauna and flora is thriving, with new habitats created and existing ones protected and enhanced throughout the park. Fundamentally, the project is educating the community about the importance of urban water management and the interdependent nature of our urban and natural environments.<\/p>\n
