With the aim to gather knowledge resources from experts, available space resources and the participation of local people to create accessible green spaces for everyone and to \u00a0develop We!park as a mediation platform to create green spaces spreading throughout the city. The main aim is to create an accessible green space every 400 metres.<\/p>\n

In the previous year, we!park, an active platform for green public space development, has been focusing on solving city problems by allocating knowledge, understanding, and engagement at every level with diversified networks and partners in order to turn abandoned areas into green public spaces for people and communities. Using this as an example of participatory space development where opinions from stakeholders are heard and the spaces are designed together. At the end of last year, one of the four vacant areas in Soi in front of Wat Hua Lamphong, Bang Rak District, was completed and on behalf of “We! Park”, we officially opened for service under the name ‘Wat Hua Lamphong Rukkhaniwet Park’ This is the first launched area, successfully completed in every stage.<\/p>\n

Shma, as a landscape architectural design organization with an approach to help save the environment and make a change in creating a better city, also took part in the development of Wat Hua Lamphong Rukkhaniwet Park. Aiming to be the new green public space in the middle of the city that implements good health for people in society.<\/p>\n

‘Wat Hua Lamphong Rukkhaniwet Park’ is an empty plot of land with an area of \u200b\u200b1,048 square meters, located in the alley in front of Wat Hua Lamphong. A land that the private sector has given to the state for development. Due to the fact that it is located in a highly developed and dense neighborhood, it is a link between the Rama IV Road and Surawong Road, the site is surrounded by condominiums, residential buildings, temples, schools, restaurants, office buildings, hotels and shopping malls. However, the area in the alley is also a residential area of the local community where the neighboring communities are ‘the community behind Wat Hua Lamphong’. In close proximity with important roads, schools, train and subway stations, it becomes a potential area to be developed into a green public space, both for local people and passerbys.<\/p>\n

\u534e\u5357\u84ec\u5bfaRukkhaniwet\u516c\u56ed\u901a\u8fc7\u5b9e\u65bd\u591a\u79cd\u65b9\u6848\u6765\u9f13\u52b1\u53c2\u4e0e\u8fc7\u7a0b\uff0c\u5982\u7528\u4e8e\u89c2\u5bdf\u548c\u5f00\u53d1\u9884\u9632\u63aa\u65bd\u7684\u6a21\u62df\u516c\u56ed\u8bd5\u9a8c\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u7b79\u529e\u548c\u7ec4\u7ec7\u73b0\u573a\u97f3\u4e50\u6f14\u51fa\u7b49\u6d3b\u52a8\u4ee5\u4fc3\u8fdb\u5176\u4f7f\u7528\uff0c\u8fd9\u5438\u5f15\u4e86\u4e0d\u540c\u5e74\u9f84\u6bb5\u7684\u5927\u91cf\u7528\u6237\uff0c\u4e5f\u5411\u516c\u4f17\u63a8\u5e7f\u4e86\u8be5\u9879\u76ee\u3002\u968f\u540e\uff0c\u540c\u4e00\u5e74\u9f84\u7ec4\u7684\u53c2\u4e0e\u8005\u88ab\u9f13\u52b1\u52a0\u5165\u5230\u201c\u516c\u4f17\u6b65\u884c\u201d\u6d3b\u52a8\u4e2d\u8fdb\u884c\u89c2\u5bdf\u548c\u63d0\u51fa\u5efa\u8bae\uff0c\u4ece\u800c\u4e3a\u6700\u7ec8\u7684\u5efa\u8bbe\u65b9\u6848\u5236\u5b9a\u4e86\u6a21\u578b\u3002\u5728\u5b8c\u6210\u5efa\u8bbe\u65bd\u5de5\u8be6\u56fe\u540e\uff0c2020\u5e7412\u6708\uff0cwe!park\u5e73\u53f0\u4e0eTejai.com\u5171\u540c\u5efa\u7acb\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u4f17\u7b79\u9879\u76ee\u201cCrowdfunding\u201d\uff0c\u4e3a\u79c1\u4eba\u548c\u793e\u4f1a\u90e8\u95e8\u63d0\u4f9b\u53c2\u4e0e\u6295\u8d44\u7684\u673a\u4f1a\uff0c\u5e76\u5efa\u7acb\u8d77\u4eba\u4eec\u5bf9\u8be5\u5730\u533a\u7684\u5f52\u5c5e\u611f\u3002<\/p>\n

The process of participation has been implemented thoroughly in the park from the very beginning where the project was presented to the government agencies, local communities, and the private sector in the neighborhood including Wat Hua Lamphong itself where the government organization responsible for the project is the Bang Rak District Office as a result, the project has been included as one of the pilot areas of the Green Bangkok 2030 project. It has gained attention and expanded its network to the surrounding private sectors and indeed, received a good response from the community.<\/p>\n

Wat Hua Lamphong Rukkhaniwet Park\u00a0has a variety of implementations to encourage participatory process, such as a mock-up park trial for observations and precautions for development. Set up and organise activities to stimulate its use, such as a live music performance. This shows a wide range of users at different times and also promotes the project to the public. Subsequently, participants from the same group were encouraged to participate in the Public Walk, which was opened to the public for observation and suggestion, leading to the development of a model for the final construction. After completing the process of developing a detailed drawing for construction, in December 2020, the we!park platform together with Tejai.com established a fundraising project, \u00a0Crowdfunding, to provide opportunities for the private and social sectors to participate in the investment and to establish a sense of belonging in the area.<\/p>\n

\u901a\u8fc7\u8c03\u7814\u548c\u8d70\u8bbf\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u56e2\u961f\u6700\u7ec8\u786e\u7acb\u4e86\u201c\u90bb\u91cc\u82b1\u56ed\u201d\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7406\u5ff5\uff1a\u4e3a\u793e\u533a\u6253\u9020\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u4eba\u5171\u4eab\u7684\u516c\u56ed\u3002\u516c\u56ed\u4e3b\u8981\u5206\u4e3a3\u4e2a\u90e8\u5206\uff1a1.\u5efa\u7b51\u65c1\u7684\u5c71\u5761\u3001\u6811\u4ead\u4ee5\u53ca\u5efa\u7b51\u65c1\u7684\u4ead\u5b50\u662f\u4f11\u95f2\u533a\uff0c\u53ef\u4e8e\u6b64\u505c\u5750\u3001\u6563\u6b65\u3001\u542c\u97f3\u4e50\u30022.\u5c4b\u524d\u7684\u8349\u576a\u533a\u57df\u9f13\u52b1\u52a8\u6001\u6d3b\u52a8\u6216\u953b\u70bc\uff0c\u5982\u8dd1\u6b65\u3001\u8fdb\u884c\u5404\u7c7b\u8fd0\u52a8\u548c\u4f38\u5c55\u8fd0\u52a8\u30023.\u6559\u80b2\u6d3b\u52a8\u533a\u57df\u3002\u4ee5\u4e0a\u6240\u6709\u5143\u7d20\u5747\u5177\u6709\u6d3b\u52a8\u7684\u7075\u6d3b\u6027\uff0c\u4ee5\u6ee1\u8db3\u591a\u5143\u5316\u4f7f\u7528\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u5982\u5efa\u7b51\u65c1\u7684\u5c0f\u5c71\u548c\u8349\u576a\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u8fde\u7eed\u7684\u533a\u57df\uff0c\u53ef\u7528\u4e8e\u793e\u533a\u805a\u4f1a\u6d3b\u52a8\u3001\u6237\u5916\u5c55\u89c8\u6216\u793e\u533a\u5b66\u6821\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u6559\u5802\u3002<\/p>\n

From surveys and interviews, we have established the design concept of ‘The garden next door’, with the objective of creating a park for the community where there is a space for everyone. The area is divided into 3 main parts: 1. The hill next to the house, the tree pavilion and the pavilion next to the house, serves as an area for relaxing such as sitting, walking and listening to music. 2. The lawn next door, an area that encourages movement activities or exercises such as running, playing different types of sports, and stretchings. 3. Homework lawn is an area for educational activities. All of the aforementioned elements are designed to have the flow of activities to be able to support a wide range of applications, for example, the hill beside the house and the lawn next to the house is a contiguous area that can be used for community gathering activities, an outdoor exhibition space or natural classrooms for schools in the community.<\/p>\n

\u6b64\u5916\uff0c\u516c\u56ed\u9009\u7528\u9002\u5408\u5f53\u5730\u6c14\u5019\u6761\u4ef6\u7684\u672c\u571f\u690d\u7269\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u4f7f\u7528\u5bf9\u513f\u7ae5\u548c\u8001\u5e74\u4eba\u65e0\u6bd2\u6216\u65e0\u523a\u6fc0\u7684\u690d\u7269\u79cd\u7c7b\uff0c\u8fd8\u5e26\u6765\u4e86\u4f17\u591a\u597d\u5904\uff0c\u4f8b\u5982\u5f69\u8272\u82b1\u5349\u80fd\u5f15\u6765\u9e1f\u7c7b\u548c\u8774\u8776\uff1b\u5927\u6811\u53ef\u4ee5\u63d0\u4f9b\u9634\u51c9\uff0c\u82b3\u9999\u5b9c\u4eba\uff0c\u8fd8\u6709\u52a9\u4e8e\u5438\u9644\u7070\u5c18\uff1b\u4e00\u7c07\u7c07\u8349\u672c\u690d\u7269\u53ef\u4f9b\u98df\u8865\uff0c\u5bf9\u8eab\u4f53\u6709\u76ca\u3002\u8fd9\u91cc\u8fd8\u4fdd\u7559\u4e86\u539f\u59cb\u7684\u83e9\u63d0\u6811\uff0c\u7528\u4ee5\u7ef4\u6301\u793e\u533a\u4e2d\u4eba\u4eec\u7684\u4ef7\u503c\u89c2\u548c\u4eba\u9645\u5173\u7cfb\u3002<\/p>\n

For the park to become \u2018the garden next door\u2019, therefore, an interesting physical form of the community, such as the pattern from the fence of the condominium in the area, has been integrated into the design. To make it look harmonious with the original building, a permeable surface is used to absorb water to prevent waterlogging including filtering and slowing down rainwater or water flows before it enters the soil or water sources<\/p>\n

In addition, a selection of local plants to suit the weather conditions has been applied to the park. By trying to choose a type that is non-toxic or easily irritating for children and the elderly, it also provides various benefits such as colourful folk flowers that attract birds and butterflies, a large tree that provides shade, smells pleasant, helps trap dust, and a group of local herbs that can be eaten for benefit the body. There is also the preservation of the original Bodhi tree in the area, to maintain the values\u00a0and relationships of people in the community.<\/p>\n

In the near future, this park will be a small green public space that helps contribute shade, alleviate the effects of the urban heat island phenomenon, as well as help slow and filter the runoff before it enters the city’s water treatment system. Maintaining ecosystem biodiversity, indigenous plants, as well as being a habitat for small animals. Socially, the park will serve as a social gathering area for local residents to create a sense of belonging through long-term management of the park by the community and stakeholders. Applications of the park are designed to support the use specifically of this particular community to facilitate the elderly in the neighborhood and students from surrounding schools. A space where they can perform activities outside the classroom or wait for parents after school hours. Overall, the park aims to promote the connection between people in the community who can use the space together.<\/p>\n
