AECOM<\/a><\/strong>: The redevelopment of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda historical district is an urban renewal project that respects the historical remains of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and protects and enhances the surrounding environment. The project provides a broader vision for the renewal of historical blocks. From overall planning to spatial design, it systematically expounds how to ” Re-Defining ” the spatial order and reconstruct the relationship between cultural relics, cities, nature and people by taking landscape as a low intervention means.<\/p>\n

1 \u8bbe\u8ba1\u7f18\u8d77 DESIGN BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u4f4d\u4e8e\u897f\u5b89\u5e02\u5185\u7684\u5c0f\u96c1\u5854\uff0c\u59cb\u5efa\u4e8e\u5510\u4ee3\u666f\u9f99\u5e74\u95f4\uff0c\u66fe\u7528\u4ee5\u5b58\u653e\u4f5b\u6559\u7ecf\u7c4d\u3002\u8fd9\u5ea7\u62e5\u6709\u5343\u5e74\u5386\u53f2\u7684\u4f5b\u5854\uff0c\u627f\u8f7d\u4e86\u957f\u5b89\u57ce\u7684\u6587\u5316\u8bb0\u5fc6\u3002\u4f46\u5176\u6240\u5728\u7684\u7247\u533a\u5374\u9010\u6e10\u4ece\u5386\u53f2\u4e0a\u7e41\u534e\u7684\u5510\u90fd\u57ce\u6838\u5fc3\u6f14\u53d8\u4e3a\u4e0e\u5468\u8fb9\u73b0\u4ee3\u793e\u533a\u53d1\u5c55\u4e0d\u534f\u8c03\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u8001\u65e7\u533a\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u5982\u4f55\u5e73\u8861\u57ce\u5e02\u53d1\u5c55\u4e0e\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u9057\u4ea7\u4fdd\u62a4\u6210\u4e3a\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7684\u7b2c\u4e00\u8981\u52a1\u3002<\/p>\n

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi\u2019an was built in the Jinglong period of the Tang Dynasty to store buddhist scriptures.\u00a0 The thousand-year-old pagoda records the cultural memory of Chang\u2019an City. However, the area where it is located has gradually declined from the historically prosperous core of the Tang Dynasty capital to an old urban area which is not in harmony with the development of surrounding modern communities. Therefore, how to balance urban development and protection of historical and cultural heritage has become the first priority of design.<\/p>\n

2 \u573a\u5730\u56f0\u5883\u4e0e\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7b56\u7565\uff1a\u56db\u91cd\u7ef4\u5ea6\u7684\u518d\u6784\u5efa SITE PROBLEM AND DESIGN STRATEGY: RE-DEFINING IN FOUR DIMENSIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u7531\u4e8e\u533a\u57df\u5185\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u7a7a\u95f4\u683c\u5c40\u906d\u5230\u4e00\u5b9a\u7834\u574f\uff0c\u666f\u89c2\u98ce\u8c8c\u6742\u4e71\uff0c\u52a0\u4e0a\u57fa\u7840\u8bbe\u65bd\u914d\u5957\u4e0d\u8db3\u3001\u8857\u9053\u6b65\u884c\u4f53\u9a8c\u5dee\u7b49\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u573a\u5730\u4e0e\u5468\u8fb9\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u533a\u57df\u7f3a\u4e4f\u6574\u4f53\u8054\u52a8\u6027\u3002\u9879\u76ee\u56e2\u961f\u76f8\u4fe1\uff0c\u5386\u53f2\u7247\u533a\u4e0d\u5e94\u53ea\u662f\u6e38\u5ba2\u7684\u76ee\u7684\u5730\uff0c\u66f4\u5e94\u662f\u57ce\u5e02\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u5e02\u6c11\u751f\u6d3b\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u3002\u5728\u5c0f\u96c1\u5854\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u7247\u533a\u7efc\u5408\u6539\u9020\u7684\u897f\u82d1\u3001\u5357\u5e7f\u573a\u53ca\u5e02\u653f\u9053\u8def\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e2d\uff0c\u9879\u76ee\u56e2\u961f\u81f4\u529b\u4e8e\u5e73\u8861\u73b0\u4ee3\u57ce\u5e02\u53d1\u5c55\u4e0e\u5386\u53f2\u7247\u533a\u9057\u4ea7\u4fdd\u62a4\u7684\u5173\u7cfb\uff0c\u68b3\u7406\u666f\u89c2\u7a7a\u95f4\u5e8f\u5217\uff0c\u5bf9\u6574\u4e2a\u7247\u533a\u8fdb\u884c\u7ec7\u8865\u4e0e\u6574\u5408\uff0c\u4ee5\u671f\u5b9e\u73b0\u5386\u53f2\u7247\u533a\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u6d3b\u529b\u590d\u5174\u4e0e\u73b0\u4ee3\u91cd\u5851\u3002<\/p>\n

The site lacks overall linkage with surrounding urban areas due to the damage of the historical spatial pattern, the cluttered landscape, insufficient supporting infrastructure and poor walking experience. The design team believes that the historical area should not only be a destination for tourists, but also be a part of the city and the life of citizens. In the landscape design of west garden, south plaza and municipal roads in the reconstruction project of the historical and cultural area of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the project team is committed to balancing the relationship between modern urban development and heritage protection of the historical area, sorting out the sequence of landscape space, and darning the entire area in order to realize the vitality revival and modern remodeling of the historical area space.<\/p>\n

2.1 \u7b2c\u4e00\u91cd\uff1a\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u7269\uff0c\u4ece\u88ab\u6846\u5b9a\u5230\u65e0\u8fb9\u754c Strategy 1: Re-Defining the relationship with historical relics<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7684\u521b\u65b0\u4e4b\u5904\uff0c\u5728\u4e8e\u6253\u5f00\u539f\u6709\u7684\u5c01\u95ed\u56f4\u5899\u8fb9\u754c\uff0c\u4f7f\u6587\u7269\u4e0d\u518d\u662f\u88ab\u6846\u5b9a\u7684\u72b6\u6001\uff0c\u8350\u798f\u5bfa\u795e\u5723\u7f8e\u4e3d\u7684\u5927\u95e8\u5411\u516c\u4f17\u5f00\u653e\u3002\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u6750\u6599\u3001\u8272\u5f69\u548c\u690d\u7269\u4e09\u4e2a\u666f\u89c2\u8981\u7d20\u63a7\u5236\u6574\u4f53\u98ce\u8c8c\uff0c\u4e0e\u66f4\u5e7f\u6cdb\u7684\u7a7a\u95f4\u4ea7\u751f\u8054\u7cfb\u3002\u5728\u5c0f\u96c1\u5854\u5357\u5e7f\u573a\uff0c\u7531\u5357\u5411\u5317\u7ec4\u7ec7\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u9012\u8fdb\u3001\u5f00\u5408\u6709\u81f4\u7684\u666f\u89c2\u7a7a\u95f4\u5e8f\u5217\u3002\u5f9c\u5f89\u5728\u4f5b\u5854\u524d\uff0c\u671b\u7740\u5c0f\u96c1\u5854\u73b2\u73d1\u79c0\u4e3d\u7684\u8eab\u59ff\uff0c\u611f\u53d7\u5c0f\u96c1\u5854\u7247\u533a\u5386\u7ecf\u5343\u5e74\u6ca7\u6851\u5374\u4f9d\u7136\u62e5\u6709\u9752\u6625\u6d3b\u529b\u3002<\/p>\n

The innovation of the design is opening the original closed wall, so that the cultural relics are no longer in a framed state, the sacred and beautiful main entrance of Jianfu Temple is opened to public. At the same time, the materials, colors and plantings are extracted from the site, and the overall style of the historical and cultural area is controlled from the above three aspects. In south Plaza of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a progressive, open and closed landscape space sequence is organized from south to north. Strolling in front of the pagoda, looking at the exquisite and beautiful figure of the thousand-year-old Small Wild Goose Pagoda, people will feel the youthful vitality of the historical and cultural area of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda after thousands of years of vicissitudes.<\/p>\n

The prototype of space creation is the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and pagoda shadow, the entire south plaza and Pagoda Shadow Swaying area are used to interpret the large and small pagoda shadow, which is the extension of the cultural heritage memory in the new era and interpretation of the cultural connotation of the pagoda. Meanwhile, guiding the sight from multiple directions and building a multi-angle Small Wild Goose Pagoda viewing corridor can create a unique viewing experience of the place, establish a memory connection between ancient and modern time and space. Last, the dense eaves-style architectural language characteristic of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the Tang Tri-Color Glazed Ceramics and other cultural features are integrated into the spatial details, where people can perceive the culture context.<\/p>\n

Optimizing the walking experience in the urban interface is the focus of the project\u2019s street renewal efforts. Multiple considerations were taken into account, including the surrounding communities, schools and the cultural display of historical blocks. The design broadened the original 1.5-meter-wide sidewalk to 3 meters, with flexible resting spaces to create a comfortable walking experience and enhance the sense of spatial belonging.<\/p>\n

\u89c1\u8bc1\u4e86\u7247\u533a\u5386\u53f2\u53d8\u8fc1\u7684\u7682\u835a\u6811\u5e26\u662f\u6539\u9020\u4e2d\u9762\u4e34\u7684\u9996\u8981\u96be\u70b9\u3002\u5c45\u6c11\u3001\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u548c\u4e1a\u4e3b\u7b49\u5c55\u5f00\u4e86\u591a\u65b9\u535a\u5f08\u4e0e\u601d\u8fa8\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u4e09\u5927\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7b56\u7565\u5b9e\u73b0\u4e86\u73b0\u6709\u6811\u6728\u751f\u957f\u73af\u5883\u7684\u7115\u65b0\uff0c\u4e3a\u7247\u533a\u8d4b\u7eff\u589e\u8272\uff0c\u5ef6\u7eed\u4e86\u573a\u5730\u8bb0\u5fc6\u3002<\/p>\n

\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u690d\u683d\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7684\u7075\u611f\u6765\u6e90\u4e8e\u53e4\u5377\u4e2d\u63cf\u7ed8\u7684\u957f\u5b89\u3002\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4fdd\u7559\u4e86704\u68f5\u73b0\u6709\u6811\u6728\uff0c\u5e76\u589e\u52a0\u4e861101\u68f5\u6811\u6728\uff0c\u573a\u5730\u7684\u78b3\u5c01\u5b58\u91cf\u6bcf\u5e74\u53ef\u8fbe\u5230444\u5428\u3002\u5728\u8425\u9020\u795e\u5723\u610f\u5883\u7684\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u9009\u7528\u5f53\u5730\u7279\u8272\u690d\u7269\uff0c\u6700\u5927\u9650\u5ea6\u53d1\u6325\u690d\u7269\u7684\u73af\u5883\u6548\u76ca\u3002<\/p>\n

The Chinese Honey Locust tree group witnessed the historical changes of the area, which is the primary difficulty in the reconstruction. Residents, designers, and clients went through extensive studies and discussions to come up with three design strategies to revive the trees and add greenery to the street, while also extending the site\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the inspiration of the planting design comes from the Chang’an (the city where the site is located, which was once the capital in the Tang Dynasty) depicted in ancient scrolls. The design retains 704 existing trees and adds 1101 trees, so that the carbon sequestration of the site can reach 444 tons per year (The landscape architect conducted an initial analysis of the site\u2019s 1805 existing & added trees using the i-Tree and National Tree Benefits Calculator). While creating a sacred mood, the environmental benefits of the plants are maximized through the selection of local characteristic plants.<\/p>\n

\u25bd\u901a\u8fc7\u5fae\u5730\u5f62\u7f13\u548c\u4e86\u571f\u7403\u4e0e\u5468\u8fb9\u7eff\u5730\u7684\u9ad8\u5dee\uff0c\u589e\u5f3a\u4e86\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u7247\u533a\u7684\u6d51\u539a\u6c14\u52bf\u7684\u540c\u65f6\u5ef6\u7eed\u4e86\u573a\u5730\u8bb0\u5fc6 The design reduces the height difference between the earth mound and the surrounding green space through micro topography, enhances the vigorous atmosphere of this historic district and extends the site memory<\/span><\/p>\n

People can enjoy morning exercise under the shady trees, practice Tai Chi in the lakeside and the pagoda shadow, meditate on the characteristic bench under the swaying tree shadow, and feel the cool breeze under beautiful willow trees on ecological waterfront. Meanwhile, the widening of the sidewalks and the placement of characteristic benches also provide a comfortable social and resting space for surrounding residents.<\/p>\n
