Cliff Garten\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4\u9ad8\u5174\u5730\u5ba3\u5e03\u4e86\u65b0\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u662f\u2014\u2014\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u5e7f\u573a\u3002\u201c\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u201d\u7684\u53e3\u53f7\u4ee3\u8868\u4e86\u5b5f\u83f2\u65af\u548c\u5176\u4ed6\u5730\u65b9\u7684\u8d2b\u56f0\u5de5\u4eba\u548c\u79cd\u65cf\u6b67\u89c6\u7684\u6597\u4e89\u3002<\/p>\n
Cliff Garten Studio is pleased to announce its design of I AM A MAN Plaza, a large-scale\u00a0experiential public sculpture commissioned to pay tribute to the members of the pivotal 1968\u00a0Sanitation Workers\u2019 Strike and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A focal point of the Civil\u00a0Rights Movement, the strike brought Dr. King to Memphis, Tennessee where he was assassinated.\u00a0The strike and its I Am a Man! slogan came to represent the struggle of the working poor and\u00a0racial inequality in Memphis and beyond.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n \u7531Garten\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7684\u666f\u89c2\u96d5\u5851\u7684\u7279\u70b9\u662f\u4e2d\u5fc3\u4f4d\u7f6e\u7684\u9752\u94dc\u548c\u4e0d\u9508\u94a2\u96d5\u5851\uff0c\u878d\u5165\u4e86\u6807\u5fd7\u6027\u7684\u53e3\u53f7\u2014\u2014\u201c\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u201d\u3002\u4f5c\u4e3a\u4e92\u52a8\u6027\u96d5\u5851\uff0c\u5728\u591c\u665a\u5b83\u4f1a\u88ab\u7167\u4eae\u3002Garten\u548c\u4ed6\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4\u9886\u5bfc\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u8bbe\u8ba1\u56e2\u961f\uff0c\u5b5f\u83f2\u65af\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08John Jackson\u4e3a\u7eaa\u5ff5\u5e7f\u573a\u8bbe\u8ba1\u3002\u4f5c\u4e3a\u82b1\u56ed\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u53e3\u8bed\u827a\u672f\u5bb6\u53f2\u8482\u592b\u00b7\u798f\u514b\u65af\u5728\u5b5f\u83f2\u65af\u4e3e\u529e\u4e86\u4e00\u573a\u516c\u5171\u6f14\u8bb2\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u7684\u516c\u5171\u7814\u8ba8\u4f1a\uff0cUrbanArt\u7ec4\u7ec7\u59d4\u5458\u4f1a\u9009\u62e9\u76f8\u5173\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u672c\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u6587\u672c\u7ed3\u5408\u4e86\u7f8e\u56fd\u5728\u79cd\u65cf\u4e3b\u4e49\u548c\u9636\u7ea7\u4e0d\u5e73\u7b49\u95ee\u9898\u4e0a\u7684\u6597\u4e89\u548c\u8fdb\u6b65\u7684\u601d\u8003\u3002<\/p>\n The landscape sculpture designed by Garten features a centrally located bronze and stainless steel\u00a0sculpture that brings the iconic slogan I AM A MAN into the present, as an interactive sculpture\u00a0which is illuminated at night. Garten and his studio led a design team with Memphis-based\u00a0landscape architect John Jackson of JPA, Inc. for the memorial plaza. As part of Garten\u2019s plan,\u00a0spoken word artist Steve Fox held an open dialogue with the greater Memphis community, who\u00a0through a series of public workshops organized by the UrbanArt Commission, selected pertinent\u00a0historical text and created an original contemporary text which is etched into the marble gates\u00a0to the plaza\u2019s entry. The texts combine as a meditation on America\u2019s struggle and progress\u00a0with racism and class inequity since the sanitation workers and Dr. Martin Luther King took their\u00a0historic stand in Memphis. <\/p>\n \u9879\u76ee\u540d\u79f0\uff1a\u6211\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u5e7f\u573a Project name: I Am A Man Plaza <\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
