ATELIER DYJG<\/a><\/strong>\uff1aA brownfield on the outskirts of Nanjing was restored by convening a garden exposition and thereafter is transforming into a tourist resort. The project is located in a large quarry of the brownfield and is planned to be a tourist complex themed by regenerated quarries, which includes a hotel, botanical garden, restaurant, caf\u00e9 and outdoor theater. The project faced challenges not only from the severely damaged natural environment of the quarry, but also from the complexity of the project’s functions and goals. The proposal adopts differentiated restoration approaches in consideration of the geological conditions and landscape characteristics of different parts of the quarry, creating a new landscape while retaining the memory of the site’s history. On the basis of researching conditions onsite like sunlight, ventilation and drainage, the design team chose more than 800 species of plants to form 12 thematic plant areas, which showcases the eco-restoration possibility and plant diversity and provides an opportunity of natural education for the public. It also provides a variety of complex functions to transform a negatively barren quarry pit into a vibrant tourist resort complex, creating high ecological, economic and social value.<\/p>\n

\u6c64\u5c71\u5730\u533a\u62e5\u6709\u4f18\u8d28\u7684\u6e29\u6cc9\uff0c\u57281500\u5e74\u524d\u5c31\u662f\u7687\u5bb6\u7684\u6e29\u6cc9\u7597\u517b\u5730\uff0c\u53e4\u8ff9\u3001\u6e29\u6cc9\u548c\u826f\u597d\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u73af\u5883\u4f7f\u5176\u4eca\u65e5\u4ecd\u7136\u662f\u5357\u4eac\u57ce\u5e02\u90ca\u533a\u7684\u4e00\u4e2a\u5ea6\u5047\u5730\u3002\u4e0d\u8fc7\uff0c20\u4e16\u7eaa60\u5e74\u4ee3\uff0c\u5730\u533a\u5317\u90e8\u7684\u4e00\u4e9b\u77f3\u7070\u5ca9\u5c71\u4f53\u88ab\u5f00\u91c7\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6c34\u6ce5\u5236\u9020\u539f\u6599\uff0c\u6c34\u6ce5\u5382\u4e5f\u5728\u5c71\u811a\u5efa\u9020\u3002\u52302018\u5e74\uff0c\u5357\u4eac\u5e02\u653f\u5e9c\u51b3\u5b9a\u5173\u95ed\u8fd9\u4e9b\u91c7\u77f3\u573a\u548c\u6c34\u6ce5\u5382\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u4e3e\u529e\u56ed\u6797\u535a\u89c8\u4f1a\uff0c\u4fee\u590d\u81ea\u7136\u73af\u5883\uff0c\u6539\u9020\u5de5\u4e1a\u8bbe\u65bd\uff0c\u5efa\u9020\u8212\u9002\u7684\u65c5\u6e38\u670d\u52a1\u8bbe\u65bd\uff0c\u5c06\u8fd9\u7247\u68d5\u5730\u8f6c\u53d8\u4e3a\u65c5\u6e38\u5ea6\u5047\u533a\u3002<\/p>\n

\u573a\u5730\u5728\u6b64\u6b21\u89c4\u5212\u7684\u56ed\u535a\u56ed\u8303\u56f4\u5185\uff0c\u4f4d\u4e8e\u534a\u5c71\u8170\u4e0a\uff0c\u66fe\u7ecf\u662f\u5357\u4eac\u6700\u5927\u7684\u91c7\u77f3\u5751\uff0c\u957f1100m\uff0c\u6709\u4e24\u5c42\uff0c\u6df1\u5ea610-22\u7c73\uff0c\u603b\u9762\u79ef\u8fbe25.5\u516c\u9877\u3002<\/p>\n

\u4e1a\u4e3b\u5e0c\u671b\u672a\u6765\u82b1\u56ed\u80fd\u591f\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4ec5\u662f\u56ed\u535a\u4f1a\u7684\u4e00\u4e2a\u5c55\u533a\uff0c\u6ee1\u8db3\u56ed\u6797\u56ed\u827a\u5c55\u89c8\u7684\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u8fd8\u9700\u8981\u5177\u6709\u6301\u4e45\u7684\u9b45\u529b\u548c\u5546\u4e1a\u8fd0\u8425\u7684\u53ef\u80fd\uff0c\u5728\u4f1a\u540e\u6210\u4e3a\u6709\u5438\u5f15\u529b\u7684\u65c5\u6e38\u76ee\u7684\u5730\u3002\u4e8e\u662f\uff0c\u8fd9\u91cc\u88ab\u89c4\u5212\u6210\u542b\u77ff\u5751\u4e3b\u9898\u9152\u5e97\u3001\u690d\u7269\u56ed\u3001\u9910\u5385\u3001\u5496\u5561\u3001\u5ba4\u5916\u5267\u573a\u7b49\u4e3a\u4e00\u4f53\u7684\u4ee5\u518d\u751f\u91c7\u77f3\u573a\u4e3a\u4e3b\u9898\u7684\u65c5\u6e38\u7efc\u5408\u4f53\u3002<\/p>\n

The Tangshan area, provided with its natural premium hot springs, was a royal spa 1,500 years ago. Today, it remains a resort on the outskirts of Nanjing today due to its monuments, hot springs and good natural environment. Nevertheless, in the 1960s, some limestone hills in the northern part of the region were mined as raw material for cement, as a result plenty of cement plants were built at the foot of the hills. By 2018, the Nanjing government decided to close these quarries and cement plants and transform this brownfield into a tourist resort by restoring the natural environment, regenerating industrial facilities,building comfortable tourist facilities and hosting the garden exposition.<\/p>\n

The site that lies on a hillside within the planned garden expo used to be the largest quarry in Nanjing, 1,100m long and 10-22m deep, with two levels, covering a total area of 19.6 hectares.<\/p>\n

The client hoped Future Garden to be more than just a show place meeting the needs of exhibition, but also to own lasting charm and the possibility of commercial operation, becoming an attractive tourist destination after the expo. It was therefore planned as a tourism complex themed by regenerated quarries, which includes hotel, botanical garden, restaurant, caf\u00e9 and outdoor theater.<\/p>\n

\u9879\u76ee\u7684\u6311\u6218\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4ec5\u6765\u81ea\u4e8e\u91c7\u77f3\u5751\u672c\u8eab\u88ab\u4e25\u91cd\u7834\u574f\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u73af\u5883\uff0c\u8fd8\u6765\u81ea\u4e8e\u9879\u76ee\u529f\u80fd\u548c\u76ee\u6807\u7684\u590d\u6742\u6027\u3002\u77ff\u5751\u7684\u4e1c\u4fa7\u662f\u9152\u5e97\uff0c\u7d27\u90bb\u9152\u5e97\u662f\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u5927\u578b\u5ba4\u5916\u5267\u573a\uff0c\u591c\u665a\u8fd9\u91cc\u4f1a\u4e3e\u529e\u4ee5\u60ac\u5d16\u4e3a\u80cc\u666f\u7684\u821e\u53f0\u6f14\u51fa\u548c\u706f\u5149\u79c0\u3002\u5e95\u5c42\u7684\u91c7\u77f3\u5751\u88ab\u89c4\u5212\u4e3a\u89c2\u8d4f\u690d\u7269\u548c\u7f8e\u4e3d\u7684\u9c7c\u7684\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002\u77ff\u5751\u5317\u4fa7\u8fb9\u7f18\u671d\u5411\u56ed\u535a\u56ed\u548c\u671d\u5411\u77ff\u5751\u5185\u90e8\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e86\u51e0\u4e2a\u89c2\u666f\u5e73\u53f0\u3002\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u53f0\u9636\u3001\u5761\u9053\u548c\u81ea\u52a8\u6276\u68af\u8fde\u63a5\u77ff\u5751\u5185\u5916\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u5c42\u7ea7\u3002\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e00\u65b9\u9762\u8981\u4fee\u590d\u77ff\u5751\uff0c\u521b\u9020\u6709\u7279\u8272\u7684\u666f\u89c2\uff0c\u6210\u4e3a\u65c5\u6e38\u5ea6\u5047\u533a\u6709\u5438\u5f15\u529b\u7684\u666f\u70b9\uff1b\u53e6\u4e00\u65b9\u9762\uff0c\u8981\u6ee1\u8db3\u5efa\u7b51\u590d\u6742\u7684\u6d88\u9632\u3001\u4eba\u6d41\u96c6\u6563\u3001\u8bbe\u5907\u5b89\u88c5\u7b49\u7684\u8981\u6c42\uff0c\u5e76\u5c06\u4e0d\u540c\u7c7b\u578b\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u878d\u5408\u5728\u666f\u89c2\u4e2d\u3002<\/p>\n

The project faced with challenges not only from the severely damaged natural environment of the quarry, but also from the complexity of project’s functions and goals. To the east of the quarry is a hotel, and adjacent to the hotel lies a grand outdoor theater hosting stage performances and light shows at night with cliff as a backdrop. The bottom of the quarry is planned as a space for ornamental plants and beautiful fish. Several viewing platforms are arranged on the northern edge of the pit towards the main area of the expo and the interior of the quarry respectively. A series of steps, ramps and escalators connect different levels inside and outside. The proposal aims to restore the quarry and create a characteristic landscape that would become an attraction of the resort area on the one hand. On the other, it is to meet the complex requirements of the buildings for fire fighting, flow gathering and circulation and equipment installation, meanwhile to integrate different types of buildings in the landscape.<\/p>\n

As the core of the project, botanical garden is located on the west side of the bottom quarry, with a set of 2-story commercial buildings adjacent to cliff, functioning as caf\u00e9, restaurant, and exhibition. To create a dreamy atmosphere, architects designed the roof of the botanical garden as a giant transparent pool, supported by 42 tall stainless steel tree-like structural columns, with sunlight pouring in through the water and the transparent roof to irradiate a vibrant green world.<\/p>\n

\u901a\u8fc7\u5bf9\u5149\u7167\u6761\u4ef6\u3001\u6c34\u5206\u6761\u4ef6\u548c\u8986\u571f\u53ef\u884c\u6027\u7684\u5206\u6790\uff0c\u786e\u5b9a\u4e86\u690d\u7269\u56ed\u4ece\u897f\u5230\u4e1c\u5206\u4e3a\u65f1\u751f\u3001\u4e2d\u751f\u548c\u6e7f\u751f3\u4e2a\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u751f\u5883\u533a\u3002<\/p>\n

The botanical garden is classified as three different habitat zones from west to east namely, arid area, mesic area and humid area through the analysis of sunlight conditions, moisture conditions and earthing feasibility.<\/p>\n

As the main entrance of botanical garden, arid garden lies on rocky slope with good sunlight conditions. A height difference of 8m requires steps and ramps to be provided. The rocky terraces combine 67 steps and an 86m-long zigzag ramp, on which various drought- and barren-tolerant plants grow.<\/p>\n

The mesic garden is proposed to create rich spatial variations by shaping undulating landform, deep ravines and steep rocks, offering the suitable environment for different plants to grow. In the complex topography there are several thematic plant display areas, such as areas separately for medicinal plants, aromatic and nectariferous plant, relict plant, tea plants, fantastic plants and plants with different colors. To increase the variety and attraction, 2 small green houses are designed to provide shelter for desert plants and aerophytes that cannot tolerate the winter outdoor. A winding skywalk connects the second floor of commercial building to the rockery and viewing platform in the garden, providing a unique experience of traversing through treetops and overlooking the garden scenery.<\/p>\n
