The French American International School (FAIS) began thinking about these issues in planning for the replacement of their 20-year-old modular classrooms with permanent structures. At the time, middle schoolers were taught in scattered, modular buildings with outdoor circulation in a rainy climate and no dry, tempered social spaces for gathering, informal learning, or independent student discovery, which led FAIS to choose the new Middle School as their first prioritized project.<\/p>\n

FAIS\u4e3a\u4e2d\u5b66\u548c\u6821\u56ed\u89c4\u5212\u7684\u5176\u4ed6\u90e8\u5206\u8bbe\u5b9a\u4e86\u5927\u80c6\u7684\u53ef\u6301\u7eed\u6027\u548c\u5f39\u6027\u76ee\u6807\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u6559\u5b66\u65b9\u6cd5\u662f\u591a\u8bed\u8a00\u548c\u56fd\u9645\u5316\u7684\uff0c\u5176\u76ee\u6807\u662f\u57f9\u517b\u4e0b\u4e00\u4ee3\u7684\u5168\u7403\u9886\u5bfc\u4eba\u548c\u521b\u9020\u6027\u601d\u60f3\u5bb6\uff1b\u8fd9\u4e5f\u53d7\u5230\u4e86\u90bb\u8fd1\u7684\u68ee\u6797\u548c\u5b66\u751f\u53ef\u4ee5\u5728\u90a3\u91cc\u89c2\u5bdf\u5230\u7684\u6816\u606f\u5730\u3001\u751f\u6001\u7cfb\u7edf\u548c\u751f\u547d\u5468\u671f\u7684\u4e30\u5bcc\u7684\u5b9e\u8df5\u5b66\u4e60\u673a\u4f1a\u7684\u5f3a\u70c8\u5f71\u54cd\u3002<\/p>\n

FAIS set bold goals for sustainability and resilience for the Middle School and the rest of their campus plan. Their pedagogy is multi-lingual and internationally focused, and their goal is to prepare the next generation of global leaders and creative thinkers; it has also been strongly influenced by the adjacent forest and the bounty of hands-on learning opportunities in the habitats, ecosystems, and life cycles students can observe there.<\/p>\n
