WXCA<\/strong><\/a>\u4e3a\u6ce2\u5170\u534e\u6c99\u7684\u5e02\u4e2d\u5fc3\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u65b0\u7684\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\uff0c\u5c06\u8fc7\u53bb\u7e41\u5fd9\u7684\u5341\u5b57\u8def\u53e3\u53d8\u6210\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u6b65\u884c\u53cb\u597d\u7684\u6d3b\u52a8\u5e7f\u573a\uff0c\u65b0\u79cd\u690d\u4e8622\u68f5\u67ab\u6811\uff0c\u5e76\u642d\u914d\u4e86\u8212\u9002\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u5bb6\u5177\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

WXCA<\/strong><\/a>\uff1aResidents of Warsaw can now enjoy a new public space in the centre of Warsaw. Before, it was a busy junction not at all resident friendly. Now, a square has been created there, with 22 maples, urban furniture and pedestrian priority. WXCA is responsible for the design.<\/p>\n

This fragment of the city has been one of the busiest places in the capital for over 100 years. Since the 1960s, mostly vehicle traffic encroached into this space, slowly pushing pedestrians out, although they still constituted a significant portion of those travelling through it. This space recently underwent a spectacular metamorphosis and a pedestrian priority urban square with mature trees and modern small architecture elements were designed here. Vehicle traffic has been reduced to public transport and it has resident and fire service access only. \u201cMost of all, we wanted to hand this part of the city over to the residents,\u201d the architects at WXCA explained.<\/p>\n

\u8be5\u9879\u76ee\u5728\u5b9e\u65bd\u4e4b\u524d\uff0c\u8fdb\u884c\u4e86\u516c\u4f17\u54a8\u8be2\u548c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7ade\u8d5b\u3002\u7ade\u8d5b\u6982\u5ff5\u83b7\u5956\u8005Kacper Ludwiczak\u4e0e\u8d1f\u8d23\u534e\u6c99\u5176\u4ed6\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\uff08\u5305\u62ec\u81ea\u7531\u8a00\u8bba\u5e7f\u573a\uff09\u7684MichaKempiski\u5408\u4f5c\uff0c\u6700\u7ec8\u52a0\u5165\u4e86WXCA\u56e2\u961f\uff08\u8be5\u56e2\u961f\u56e0\u8fea\u62dc2020\u5e74\u4e16\u535a\u4f1a\u6ce2\u5170\u9986\u800c\u95fb\u540d\uff0c\u53d7\u5230\u56fd\u9645\u793e\u4f1a\u7684\u597d\u8bc4\uff09\u8d1f\u8d23\u5e7f\u573a\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u3002\u6b63\u5982\u5efa\u7b51\u5e08\u4eec\u81ea\u5df1\u6240\u627f\u8ba4\u7684\u90a3\u6837\uff0c\u5728\u534e\u6c99\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u4e2d\u5fc3\u4fee\u5efa\u65b0\u5e7f\u573a\u6784\u6210\u4e86\u771f\u6b63\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u6311\u6218\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

The new Five Corners Square was opened on 5th July by the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafa\u0142 Trzaskowski. The modernisation work took over a year to complete due to its historic city centre location.<\/p>\n

The execution of the project was preceded by public consultations and an architecture competition. The author of the competition concept is Kacper Ludwiczak who partnered with Micha\u0142 Kempi\u0144ski, responsible for other public spaces in Warsaw, including the Free Speech Square, ultimately joining the WXCA team, which is well-known for the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai that was distinguished by the international community. As the architects themselves acknowledge, the new square in the historic part of Warsaw posed a real design challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u6211\u4eec\u6709\u610f\u786e\u4fdd\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7e41\u5fd9\u7684\u5e7f\u573a\u5c3d\u53ef\u80fd\u5730\u6ee1\u8db3\u5e7f\u5927\u4f7f\u7528\u8005\u7684\u4ea4\u6d41\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u884c\u4eba\u3001\u9a91\u884c\u8005\u548c\u516c\u5171\u4ea4\u901a\u4e58\u5ba2\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u90bb\u8fd1\u57ce\u9547\u4f4f\u5b85\u7684\u5c45\u6c11\u3001\u4e34\u8857\u5546\u5e97\u548c\u9910\u996e\u7ecf\u8425\u8005\u548c\u987e\u5ba2\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u9009\u62e9\u4e86\u7edf\u4e00\u7684\u5927\u5c3a\u5bf8\u94fa\u8def\u677f\uff0c\u65b9\u4fbf\u4e8e\u5404\u4e2a\u65b9\u5411\u7684\u901a\u884c\u3002\u4e0d\u540c\u9aa8\u6599\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\u677f\u989c\u8272\u4e0e\u4e94\u89d2\u5e7f\u573a\u76f8\u90bb\u7684\u57ce\u9547\u623f\u5c4b\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u5916\u5899\u7684\u8272\u8c03\u76f8\u5f97\u76ca\u5f70\u3002\u201dWXCA\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u5e08\u548c\u5408\u4f19\u4ebaMarta S\u0119kulska-Wro\u0144ska\u89e3\u91ca\u9053\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u4e94\u89d2\u5e7f\u573a\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u6ca1\u6709\u7ed3\u6784\u969c\u788d\uff08\u5982\u53f0\u9636\u548c\u8def\u7f18\u77f3\uff09\u7684\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u8fd9\u4f7f\u5f97\u6709\u4e0d\u540c\u884c\u52a8\u9700\u6c42\u7684\u4eba\u90fd\u80fd\u8fdb\u5165\u3002\u5176\u7a7a\u95f4\u89c4\u5212\u6839\u636eCPTED\u6218\u7565\u5b9e\u65bd\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u9632\u6b62\u72af\u7f6a\u6d3b\u52a8\uff0c\u6574\u4e2a\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u53ef\u89c1\u6027\u548c\u5f00\u655e\u5ea6\uff0c\u4e5f\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u63d0\u5347\u4e86\u6240\u6709\u4f7f\u7528\u8005\u7684\u5b89\u5168\u611f\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe were intent on ensuring that this busy square fulfils its communication function as best as possible for a wide group of users: pedestrians, cyclists and public transport passengers, as well as residents of neighbouring town houses and street-level shop and food and beverage service proprietors and customers. We opted for uniform large-format paving slabs providing easy passage in all directions. The colours of the varying aggregate architectural concrete slabs complement the colour scheme of the historic fa\u00e7ades of the Warsaw town houses adjoining the Five Corners Square. The stone comes from local Polish deposits,\u201d Marta S\u0119kulska-Wro\u0144ska, architect and partner at WXCA, explains.<\/p>\n

The Five Corners Square is a place without architectonic barriers, such as steps and curbs, which makes it accessible to people with varied mobility needs. Space, in line with the CPTED strategy, was planned to deter criminal activity and ensure visibility of the entire space so that all its users feel safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t want the square to be just a pass-through place. We designed it as a framework for city life \u2013 a place where people can meet up and which can be enjoyed in the caf\u00e9s and bars and cultural events taking place there. We also wanted to give the residents a place where they can relax and wind down \u2013 taking a breather while sitting in the shade of its magnificent trees. The very fabric of this space has been transformed by the row of mature trees in line with the street layout, the urban furniture, and the trough and fountain, which were designed at the request of the local residents. The architects found room for 22 field maples, which are part of the traditional Polish landscape. \u201cIt is also a species that flourishes in urban conditions. Each maple was 9 metres high at the time of planting and they will continue to grow as each year passes to someday create a lush, green canopy over pedestrians\u2019 heads. Tree growth is possible thanks to the modern root mass anti-compression systems designed by us to ensure unrestricted access to water and air,\u201d Micha\u0142 Kempi\u0144ski explains. The square also contains elements of small architecture with oak seating.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want people to co-create this place, assuming that the square can be furnished depending on the changing needs. We developed an urban furniture module combining seating and plant pot functions that can easily be adapted to changing requirements. The observation, analysis and implementation processes of further adaptations were incorporated into this square as early as on the design stage. It\u2019s just like us, as time passes, choosing new furniture for our homes to suit our current needs. The same thing applies to urban spaces, which are much like urban interiors. Even now, we can observe how new life has appeared on the square and how it varies depending on the time of day. Caf\u00e9s have already been opened and people are sitting under the trees to take a moment and relax, away from the urban hustle and bustle of the city,\u201d points out Marta S\u0119kulska-Wro\u0144ska.<\/p>\n

\u4e94\u89d2\u5e7f\u573a\u7684\u5b9e\u65bd\u662f\u5c06\u534e\u6c99\u5e02\u4e2d\u5fc3\u8f6c\u53d8\u4e3a\u517c\u5177\u529f\u80fd\u6027\u3001\u5ba1\u7f8e\u6027\u548c\u7eff\u8272\u7684\u9ad8\u8d28\u91cf\u73b0\u4ee3\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u7b2c\u4e00\u9636\u6bb5\uff0c\u4e5f\u5c06\u662f<\/span><\/span>\u90bb\u8fd1\u57ce\u5e02\u7a7a\u95f4\u73b0\u4ee3\u5316\u7684\u8d77\u70b9\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe pandemic and subsequent lockdowns made us realise even more that we are a social species and that public spaces are tremendously important to us. The execution of the Five Corners Square is one of the first stages of transformation of Warsaw\u2019s city centre into a high quality modern space that is functional, aesthetic and green.
