Herzog & de Meuron<\/a><\/strong> + Ai Weiwei:<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Serpentine Gallery<\/a> Pavilion 2012 (eng) ENG \u2013 The Serpentine Gallery<\/a> Pavilion<\/a>, designed by Herzog & de Meuron <\/a>and Ai Weiwei, will be the twelfth commission in the Gallery\u2019s annual series, the world\u2019s first and most ambitious architectural programme of its kind. The design team responsible for the celebrated Beijing National Stadium, which was built for the 2008 Olympic Games, comes together again in London in 2012 for the Serpentine\u2019s acclaimed annual commission, being presented as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad.<\/p>\n

\u5c55\u9986\u662fHerzog & de Meuron \u548c Ai Weiwei\u5728\u82f1\u56fd\u7684\u9996\u4e2a\u5408\u4f5c\u5efa\u7b51\u3002\u4eca\u5e74\u7684\u5c55\u9986\u5c06\u5e26\u9886\u6e38\u5ba2\u5728\u86c7\u5f62\u7f8e\u672f\u9986\u7684\u8349\u576a\u4e0b\u63a2\u7d22\u4e4b\u524d\u5c55\u9986\u9690\u85cf\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u3002\u6bcf\u4e2a\u8fc7\u53bb\u5c55\u9986\u7684\u5341\u4e00\u6839\u67f1\u5b50\u548c\u4ee3\u8868\u5f53\u524d\u7ed3\u6784\u7684\u7b2c\u5341\u4e8c\u6839\u67f1\u5b50\u5c06\u652f\u6491\u4e00\u4e2a\u9ad8\u51fa\u5730\u97621.4\u7c73\u7684\u6d6e\u52a8\u5e73\u53f0\u5c4b\u9876\u3002\u5c55\u9986\u7684\u5185\u90e8\u5c06\u8986\u76d6\u8f6f\u6728\uff0c\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u79cd\u53ef\u6301\u7eed\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u6750\u6599\uff0c\u56e0\u5176\u72ec\u7279\u7684\u54c1\u8d28\u800c\u88ab\u9009\u62e9\uff0c\u4ee5\u547c\u5e94\u6316\u6398\u51fa\u7684\u6ce5\u571f\u3002<\/p>\n

The Pavilion is Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei\u2019s first collaborative built structure in the UK. This year\u2019s Pavilion will take visitors beneath the Serpentine\u2019s lawn to explore the hidden history of its previous Pavilions. Eleven columns characterising each past Pavilion and a twelfth column representing the current structure will support a floating platform roof 1.4 metres above ground. The Pavilion\u2019s interior will be clad in cork, a sustainable building material chosen for its unique qualities and to echo the excavated earth.<\/p>\n

Taking an archaeological approach, the architects have created a design that will inspire visitors to look beneath the surface of the park as well as back in time across the ghosts of the earlier structures. The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion will operate as a public space and as a venue for Park Nights, the Gallery\u2019s high-profile programme of public talks and events. Connecting to the archaeological focus of the Pavilion design, Park Nights will culminate in October with the Serpentine Gallery Memory Marathon, the latest edition of the annual Serpentine Marathon series conceived by Hans Ulrich Obrist, now in its seventh year. The Marathon series began in 2006 with the 24-hour Serpentine Gallery Interview Marathon; followed by the Experiment Marathon in 2007; the Manifesto Marathon in 2008; the Poetry Marathon in 2009, the Map Marathon in 2010 and the Garden Marathon in 2011. The 2012 Pavilion has been purchased by Usha and Lakshmi N. Mittal and will enter their private collection after it closes to the public in October 2012.<\/p>\n
