MARC FORNES \/ THEVERYMANY\uff1a<\/strong><\/a>\u5f53THEVERYMANY\u518d\u6b21\u4eae\u76f8\u65b0\u9879\u76ee\u65f6\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u80af\u5b9a\u5728\u5b83\u7684\u53d1\u5c55\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\uff0c\u5b83\u91c7\u53d6\u4e86\u66f4\u591a\u7684\u4f2a\u88c5\u3002HYPARBOLE\u4e5f\u4e0d\u4f8b\u5916\uff1a\u5b83\u662f\u4e13\u6ce8\u7814\u7a76\u3001\u7ecf\u8fc7\u65e0\u6570\u4e2a\u6a21\u578b\u63a8\u6572\u7684\u7ed3\u679c\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u7f57\u5fb7\u5c9b\u5927\u5b66\u827a\u672f\u4e2d\u5fc3\u8d62\u5f97\u76842013\u5e74\u5f53\u4ee3\u516c\u5171\u827a\u672f\u9879\u76ee\u7ade\u8d5b\u53c2\u8d5b\u4f5c\u54c1\u66f4\u65b0\u4e8620\u4e16\u7eaa\u8ba1\u7b97\u751f\u4ea7\u65b9\u5f0f\u4e0b\u7684\u7ed3\u6784\u5b9e\u9a8c\u3002\u5728\u8fd9\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5c06Candela\u76844-12\u5398\u7c73\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\u6362\u6210\u4ec53\u6beb\u7c73\u7684\u94dd\u3002<\/p>\n

MARC FORNES \/ THEVERYMANY\uff1a<\/a><\/strong>When THEVERYMANY debut a new project in its final form, you can be sure that it has assumed many more guises over the course of its development.\u00a0 HYPARBOLE is no exception: it is the elegant outcome of focused research, countless models, and sometimes multiple prototypes. Our winning 2013 competition entry for this contemporary public art project at the Rhode Island College Fine Arts Center updates 20th-century structural experimentation within the contemporary paradigm of computational production. Here, we take Candela’s 4-12 centimeters of concrete to just 3 millimeters of aluminum.<\/p>\n

\u5b66\u6821\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u5b9e\u9a8c\u548c\u53d1\u73b0\u7684\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u4e3aHYPARBOLE\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u5408\u9002\u7684\u5bb6\u3002\u8be5\u7ed3\u6784\u5efa\u7acb\u5728\u591a\u5e74\u7684\u7814\u7a76\u57fa\u7840\u4e4b\u4e0a\uff0c\u5e76\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u53d1\u5c55\u4e86\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4\u5c06\u7ed3\u6784\u3001\u5f62\u5f0f\u548c\u7ecf\u9a8c\u7edf\u4e00\u4e3a\u8fde\u8d2f\u6750\u6599\u7cfb\u7edf\u7684\u52aa\u529b\u3002\u5728\u4e00\u8fde\u4e32\u7684\u7eff\u8272\u66f2\u7ebf\u4e2d\uff0cHYPARBOLE\u5de7\u5999\u800c\u81ea\u4fe1\u5730\u6210\u4e3a\u521b\u610f\u5b9e\u8df5\u7684\u95e8\u6237\u3002\u5728\u827a\u672f\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u5165\u53e3\u5904\uff0c\u5c55\u9986\u4e3a\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4\u89c2\u4f17\u3001\u6559\u5e08\u548c\u6821\u56ed\u6e38\u5ba2\u63d0\u4f9b\u9f13\u821e\u548c\u884c\u52a8\u529b\u3002\u5b83\u7684\u773c\u775b\u5728\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7126\u70b922\u82f1\u5c3a\u9ad8\u5ea6\u7684\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u5b83\u4ec5\u5728\u4e09\u4e2a\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\u57fa\u7840\u4e0a\u7740\u529b\u3002<\/p>\n

The College, a site of experimentation and discovery, makes an appropriate home for HYPARBOLE. This structure builds on several years of research and further develops the studio’s efforts to unify structure, form and experience into coherent material systems. In a burst of green curves, HYPARBOLE stands delicately and confidently as a gateway to creative practice. At the entrance to the Fine Arts Center, the pavilion ushers studio-goers, faculty and campus visitors alike toward inspiration and action. Its oculus ascends to an imposing height of 22′ at this focal point, making it a force majeure touching down on only three concrete bases.<\/p>\n

\u5728hypar\u8868\u9762\u7684\u56fe\u6848\u5207\u5272\u9075\u5faa\u6a21\u62df\u7684\u529b\u6d41\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u8fd9\u4e2a\u82b1\u4e1d\u8fc7\u6ee4\u5149\u7ebf\u7684\u6c14\u6c1b\u4f1a\u4e0d\u65ad\u6539\u53d8\u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u8d28\u91cf\uff1a\u5b83\u4f1a\u6839\u636e\u4e00\u5929\u4e2d\u7684\u65f6\u95f4\u3001\u65b9\u5411\u3001\u8f68\u8ff9\u3001\u9ad8\u5ea6\u548c\u901f\u5ea6\u5bf9\u4eba\u4ea7\u751f\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u5f71\u54cd\u3002\u8fd9\u79cd\u5149\u7684\u53d1\u6325\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4f7f\u5f97\u8868\u9762\u5177\u6709\u52a8\u6001\u53d8\u5316\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u8fd8\u5177\u6709\u5f15\u4eba\u5165\u80dc\u7684\u7a7a\u95f4\u4e92\u52a8\u611f\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u516c\u5171\u5e7f\u573a\u7684\u9ad8\u5ea6\u805a\u7126\u70b9\u3002<\/p>\n

Patterned cuts in the\u00a0hypar\u00a0surface follow simulated force flows. Scripted agents intuitively crawl along these lines and eat away at the aluminum, like caterpillars to a leaf. The atmosphere of light filtering through this filigree constantly changes the quality of the piece: it will strike you differently depending on the time of day, your orientation, trajectory, height, and speed. This play of light not only makes for a dynamically changing surface but an engaging and interactive space, and a highly charged focal point for the public plaza.<\/p>\n

\u4e3a\u4e86\u5728\u6700\u5c0f\u5316\u5236\u9020\u6210\u672c\u548c\u88c5\u914d\u65f6\u95f4\u7684\u53c2\u6570\u4e0b\u5347\u81f3\u6b64\u9ad8\u5ea6\uff0cMARC FORNES \/ THEVERYMANY\u57fa\u4e8e\u6709\u6548\u7684\u51e0\u4f55\u53c2\u8003\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e86\u8868\u9762\u62d3\u6251\u3002\u5728Felix Candela\u5de8\u5927\u7684\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\u5916\u58f3\u7684\u6297\u91cd\u529b\u5b58\u5728\u4e2d\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u4ece\u5b83\u7684\u524d\u63d0\u51fa\u53d1\uff0c\u5373\u53ef\u4ee5\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4e00\u4e2a\u53cc\u66f2\u7ebf\u51e0\u4f55\u7ed3\u6784\uff0c\u4ee5\u5728\u7ed3\u6784\uff0c\u7f8e\u5b66\u548c\u7ecf\u6d4e\u4e0a\u53d1\u6325\u4f5c\u7528\u3002\u5904\u7406\u65b9\u6cd5\u662f\u5c06\u94a2\u7b4b\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\u6362\u6210\u6807\u5fd7\u6027\u7684\u94dd\u5355\u9762\uff0c\u5728\u6b64\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\u4f7f\u7528\u5927\u91cf\u6750\u6599\u8fdb\u884c\u758f\u89e3\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u5f00\u53d1\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u5f3a\u5316\u4e86\u8fd9\u79cd\u8bbe\u8ba1\uff0c\u65e2\u4e0d\u4f1a\u635f\u5bb3\u7ed3\u6784\uff0c\u5f62\u5f0f\u4e5f\u4e0d\u4f1a\u5f71\u54cd\u6548\u7387\u3002<\/p>\n

To rise to this height under parameters that minimize fabrication costs and assembly time, MARC FORNES \/ THEVERYMANY designed a surface topology based on an efficient geometric reference. In the gravity-defying presence of\u00a0Felix Candela’s monumental concrete shells, we proceed from his premise that a hyperbolic geometry could be designed to perform structurally, aesthetically, and economically. Our treatment would exchange his reinforced concrete for our signature single-surface in aluminum, disbanding with an abundance of material in the process. Through development, we reinforce the idea that designing for this kind of fabrication would compromise neither structure, form, nor efficiency.<\/p>\n

The project takes on several roles: an art piece, an iconic structure, and a visual identity for Rhode Island College\uff0calso\u00a0is a permanent structure commissioned by Rhode Island College and the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts through the Allocation for Art for Public Facilities Act.<\/p>\n
