\u5e9f\u5f03\u7684\u7801\u5934\u76ee\u524d\u963b\u788d\u4e86\u884c\u4eba\u548c\u9a91\u884c\u8005\u8fdb\u5165\u4e00\u6761\u58ee\u89c2\u7684\u7eff\u8272\u8d70\u5eca\uff0c\u8be5\u8d70\u5eca\u4ece\u8d6b\u7279\u798f\u5fb7\u90e1\u7a7f\u8fc7\u6c83\u5c14\u745f\u59c6\u4fee\u9053\u9662\u548c\u5965\u6797\u5339\u514b\u516c\u56ed\uff0c\u6700\u540e\u5230\u8fbe\u6cf0\u6664\u58eb\u6cb3\u3002<\/p>\n

Thomas Randall-Page<\/strong><\/a>: Cody Dock is a huge ex-industrial dock located on the bank of the Lea river in east London. The Dock is now home to a dynamic community of artistic people who are in the process of transforming the place from dereliction into an oasis of creativity and production.<\/p>\n

A key part of this is reopening the dock to the Lea’s tidal waters so it can be used for moorings, this requires the removal of a dam and the introduction of an opening foot bridge. This new foot bridge will carry the ‘Leaway’ footpath and cycle route and also ‘The Line’ Sculpture walk.<\/p>\n

The derelict dock currently acts as a barrier to pedestrians and cyclists accessing an amazing green corridor which runs from Hertfordshire, through Waltham Abbey and the Olympic Park, before ending at the Thames.<\/p>\n

2009\u5e7411\u6708\uff0c\u5f53\u5730\u5c45\u6c11\u6210\u7acb\u4e86\u6148\u5584\u673a\u6784Gasworks Dock Partnership\uff08GDP\uff09\uff0c\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u975e\u8425\u5229\u7ec4\u7ec7\uff0c\u65e8\u5728\u4ee5\u793e\u533a\u4e3a\u4e3b\u5bfc\u8fdb\u884c\u518d\u5f00\u53d1\uff0c\u76ee\u7684\u662f\u5f00\u653e\u901a\u5f80\u5229\u6cb3\u4e0b\u6e38\u7684\u516c\u5171\u901a\u9053\u5e76\u4fee\u590d\u7801\u5934\u3002<\/p>\n

Originally built in 1871, Cody Dock was constructed by the Imperial Chemical Company for the purpose of unloading coal from barges that was used to produce coal gas (town gas) and distribute the factory\u2019s many by-products, such as soap and the pigment Prussian Blue. The dock was later purchased by the Gaslight and Coke Company who also owned the Beckton gasworks which became the largest gasworks in Europe.<\/p>\n

After being taken over by British Gas, the dock and its associated factory buildings fell into decline from the late 1960\u2019s with all production coming to a close in the early 1980\u2019s. Cody Dock and the surrounding properties were taken over by the Docklands Development Corporation in the early 90\u2019s and much of the surrounding land was parcelled off for redevelopment into the business parks that still remain today. The dock, however, was no longer seen as being viable and was blocked off, partially filled in and converted into a balancing lagoon for surface water run-off.<\/p>\n

In November 2009 the charity Gasworks Dock Partnership was formed by local residents as a not-for-profit organisation, to provide a community led regeneration vehicle with the aim of opening up public access to the Lower Lea River and restoring the dock.<\/p>\n

\u7801\u5934\u91cd\u5efa Redevelopment<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGDP\u201d\u4e8e2009\u5e7411\u6708\u4f5c\u4e3a\u4e00\u5bb6\u793e\u4f1a\u4f01\u4e1a\u6210\u7acb\uff0c\u5e76\u4e8e2011\u5e744\u6708\u6ce8\u518c\u4e3a\u6148\u5584\u673a\u6784\u3002<\/p>\n

\u4ece2015\u5e74\u52302018\u5e74\uff0c\u201cGDP\u201d\u5411\u8d85\u8fc75\u4e07\u540d\u6e38\u5ba2\u5f00\u653e\u4e86\u79d1\u8fea\u7801\u5934\u7684\u5927\u95e8\uff0c\u5e76\u4e0e6000\u591a\u540d\u5fd7\u613f\u8005\u4e00\u8d77\u6e05\u7406\u548c\u4fee\u590d\u4e86\u6cb3\u8fb9\u7684\u4eba\u884c\u9053\u3002 \u5728\u6cf0\u6664\u58eb\u6cb3\u6c34\u52a1\u516c\u53f8\u3001Veola\u73af\u5883\u4fe1\u6258\u57fa\u91d1\u3001\u90b1\u56ed\u3001\u7687\u5bb6\u56ed\u827a\u534f\u4f1a\u3001\u7ebd\u6c49\u59c6\u59d4\u5458\u4f1a\u548c\u5927\u4e50\u900f\u7684\u652f\u6301\u4e0b\uff0c\u79d1\u8fea\u7801\u5934\u5df2\u6210\u4e3a\u793e\u533a\u4e3b\u5bfc\u4fee\u590d\u518d\u751f\u7684\u65d7\u8230\u8f7d\u4f53\u3002<\/p>\n

The Gasworks Dock Partnership was formed as a social enterprise in November 2009 and registered as a charity in April, 2011.<\/p>\n

From 2015 \u2013 2018, GDP opened Cody Dock\u2019s gates to over 50,000 visitors and worked with over 6,000 volunteers on the clean up and restoration of its riverside footpaths. With support from Thames Water, the Veola Environmental Trust, Kew Gardens, the Royal Horticultural Society, Newham Council and the Big Lottery, Cody Dock has established itself as a flagship vehicle for community-led regeneration.<\/p>\n

2018\u5e744\u6708\uff0c\u201cGDP\u201d\u6210\u529f\u83b7\u5f97\u89c4\u5212\u8bb8\u53ef\uff0c\u5c06\u51762.5\u82f1\u4ea9\u7684\u571f\u5730\u5f00\u53d1\u4e3a\u521b\u610f\u4ea7\u4e1a\u533a\uff0c\u5236\u5b9a\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u4e03\u5e74\u53d1\u5c55\u8ba1\u5212\u3002\u8fd9\u5c06\u5305\u62ec\uff1a\u65b0\u7684\u6e38\u5ba2\u4e2d\u5fc3\u548c\u5496\u5561\u5385\u3001\u5c55\u89c8\u7a7a\u95f4\u3001\u793e\u4f1a\u548c\u5de5\u4e1a\u9057\u4ea7\u6863\u6848\u548c\u5c55\u9986\u3001\u56fd\u9645\u827a\u672f\u5bb6\u548c\u4e34\u65f6\u6258\u7ba1\u5957\u623f\u300110\u4e2a\u65b0\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u5ba4\u548c\u8f66\u95f4\u7a7a\u95f4\u300110\u4e2a\u65b0\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\/\u5de5\u4f5c\u505c\u6cca\u70b9\u3001\u6e38\u5ba2\u505c\u6cca\u70b9\u3001\u5e72\u8239\u575e\u8bbe\u65bd\u3002<\/p>\n

With Phase One complete and the Leaway River Lea Park now kick started, Cody Dock is already home to a number of creative industries, social enterprises and visitor attractions, that include:

\u897f\u8499\u88ab\u8fd9\u4e2a\u60f3\u6cd5\u8ff7\u4f4f\u4e86\uff0c\u4ed6\u6700\u540e\u6539\u53d8\u4e86\u7b56\u7565\u3002<\/p>\n

As a part of the big vision to regenerate and restore Cody Dock, Gasworks Dock Partnership had applied for and been granted planning permission for an opening foot bridge at the neck of the dock. This original plan involved an off-the-shelf product opening bascule-type bridge sourced from the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Designer Thomas Randall Page got wind of these plans and approached GDP to see if he could counter propose something more unique. He suggested that the bridge was an important centrepiece for the whole project, the keeper of two thresholds, bank to bank and also river to dock. As such this infrastructure should be celebrated and memorable, something people would come and see not cross and forget.<\/p>\n

Thomas then went on a slow 2 week journey on a canal boat and spent his time sketching only stopping to help with the locks. He returned with an idea for a new type of opening bridge and took it to Tim Lucas a fantastic structural engineer at Price & Myers to pass an eye over it and see if it \u201chad legs\u201d. Tim loved the idea and with the help of a model Thomas pitched it to Simon Myers at GDP.<\/p>\n

Simon was taken enough with the idea that he changed tack and the rest is history.<\/p>\n
