BW-lANDSCAPE PLANNING AND DESIGN<\/strong><\/a>: SKP, once a business legend, landed in the core area of Chengdu’s Jiaozi Park business area at the end of last year and officially opened for business. As the third SKP project in China, Chengdu SKP brings new challenges. It is the largest sunken building in Asia, and the first sunken high-end fashion department store in China. The project covers a total area of 260,000 square meters, of which 99% of the building structure is underground, down to as deep as 30 meters. The landscape area of its ground park level is about 190,000 square meters, of which the rooftop garden area reaches 70,000 square meters, the world\u2019s largest known area of rooftop gardens. Meanwhile, four subway lines intersect at Chengdu SKP, enabling Chengdu SKP to adopt a new model of “TOD (Transit Oriented Development) + Park + Shopping”, which integrates an important transportation hub, a high-end underground retail complex, and an above-ground ecological park into a unified developing project. In this project, our company is privileged to take the role of direction for outdoor scenery construction and advancement, and played an in-depth part in the whole duration of the project. Many friends have been looking forward to the stories behind the scene, so today we are here to share.<\/p>\n

\u9879\u76ee\u6574\u4f53\u7531\u5730\u4e0a\u7684\u516c\u56ed\u666f\u89c2\u8fdb\u5165\uff0c\u4ee5\u8700\u5730\u7ec7\u9526\u4e3a\u7075\u611f\u4e32\u8054\u591a\u8fbe33\u5904\u81ea\u7136\u666f\u89c2\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\u4e0e\u4e0b\u6c89\u5f0f\u5efa\u7b51\u4ee5\u4eb2\u81ea\u7136\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7406\u5ff5\u76f8\u878d\u3002\u5730\u4e0b\u5546\u4e1a\u4f53\u5171\u5206\u4e3a\u56db\u4e2a\u90e8\u5206\uff1a\u6210\u90fdSKP\u3001\u6210\u90fdSKP-S\u3001K\u5927\u9053\u548cG\u5927\u9053\uff08250\u7c73\u957f\u7684\u9ad8\u7aef\u65f6\u5c1a\u4e0e\u7f8e\u98df\u533a\u57df\uff09\uff0c\u6574\u4f53\u5c06\u65f6\u5c1a\u3001\u79d1\u6280\u3001\u827a\u672f\u4e0e\u8bbe\u8ba1\u76f8\u7ed3\u5408\uff0c\u81ea\u4eae\u76f8\u4ee5\u6765\uff0c\u6709\u7740\u5bd3\u610f\u201c\u5929\u5e9c\u4e4b\u6c34\u5929\u4e0a\u6765\u201d\u7684\u300c\u751f\u673a\u4e4b\u5854\u300d\u4ee5\u53ca\u300c\u6c34\u5e55\u300d\u3001\u300c\u7425\u73c0\u300d\u7b49\u4e0a\u955c\u7387\u6781\u9ad8\u7684\u666f\u89c2\u573a\u666f\u6210\u4e3a\u6c11\u4f17\u4e89\u76f8\u6253\u5361\u70b9\u3002<\/p>\n

The main body of the project is accessed through the landscape park above ground, with as many as 33 natural landscapes strung together, inspired by the Sichuan brocade handicraft while merging with the sunken buildings, reflecting a pro-nature design concept. The underground commercial complex is divided into four parts: Chengdu SKP, Chengdu SKP-S, Avenue K and Avenue G (a 250-meter long high-end fashion and gourmet area), incorporating fashion, technology, art and design together. Since its debut, the landscape hotspots such as “Tower of Vitality”, “Water Curtain”, and “Amber” have become popular tourist attractions, highly publicized and frequently photographed.<\/p>\n

\u9879\u76ee\u4e8e2021\u5e74\u542f\u52a8\uff0c2022\u5e7412\u670815\u65e5\u5728\u6210\u90fdSKP\u5546\u4e1a\u533a\u76db\u5927\u5f00\u5e55\uff0c2023\u5e744\u6708\u516c\u56ed\u5c42\u5168\u9762\u5f00\u653e\uff0c\u5386\u65f62\u5e74\uff0c\u7ec8\u4e8e\u5448\u73b0\u5728\u5927\u4f17\u773c\u524d\u3002\u5bf9\u6bd4\u6211\u53f8\u4e4b\u524d\u5386\u65f64\u5e74\u540c\u7b49\u4f53\u91cf\u7684\u53e6\u4e00\u9879\u76ee\uff0c\u6210\u90fdSKP\u53ef\u4ee5\u8bf4\u662f\u4e00\u573a\u5168\u65b9\u4f4d\u7684\u7a7a\u95f4\u6218\u5f79\u3002<\/p>\n

The project was piloted in 2021, and officially launched with a grand opening in Chengdu SKP commercial area on December 15, 2022. The park level was fully opened in April 2023, eventually unveiling the project to the public after 2 years. Compared to one of our previous projects of the same size that took 4 years, Chengdu SKP can claim the title of an all-around spatial campaign.<\/p>\n

\u6311\u62181\u2014\u2014\u5168\u4e13\u4e1a\u534f\u8c03\u914d\u5408 Challenge 1 All-professional coordination<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u573a\u6218\u5f79\u4e2d\u7b2c\u4e00\u4e2a\u6311\u6218\u662f\u5404\u4e13\u4e1a\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u534f\u8c03\u914d\u5408\u3002\u7531\u4e8e\u9879\u76ee\u4f53\u91cf\u5e9e\u5927\uff0c\u6d89\u53ca\u591a\u4e2a\u516c\u53f8\u53ca\u4e13\u4e1a\u5c42\u9762\uff0c\u666f\u89c2\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6237\u5916\u573a\u666f\u6548\u679c\u5448\u73b0\u7684\u6700\u540e\u628a\u5173\uff0c\u9700\u8981\u5168\u65b9\u4f4d\u534f\u8c03\u6c9f\u901a\u3002\u521d\u6b65\u7edf\u8ba1\uff0c\u5728\u6b64\u9879\u76ee\u4e2d\uff0c\u6211\u53f8\u5bf9\u63a5\u534f\u8c03\u4e86\u8fd120\u5bb6\u56fd\u5185\u5916\u7684\u5404\u4e13\u4e1a\u516c\u53f8\u3002\u5728\u9879\u76ee\u524d\u671f\u65b9\u6848\u9636\u6bb5\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u5b58\u5728\u4e0e\u5883\u5916\u516c\u53f8\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u65f6\u5dee\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u6211\u53f8\u4e0e\u4e1a\u4e3b\u65b9\u4ee5\u53caSYB\u3001JCFO\u3001\u534e\u4e1c\u5efa\u7b51\u9662\u7b49\u4e13\u4e1a\u5355\u4f4d\u57fa\u672c\u4fdd\u6301\u6bcf\u54681\u81f32\u6b21\u7684\u6df1\u591c\u8de8\u56fd\u89c6\u9891\u4f1a\u8bae\u4ee5\u53ca\u5927\u91cf\u7684\u90ae\u4ef6\u5f80\u6765\u6c9f\u901a\u534f\u8c03\u89e3\u51b3\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u6574\u4e2a\u9879\u76ee\u7ba1\u63a7\u63a8\u8fdb\u7684\u590d\u6742\u7a0b\u5ea6\u8fdc\u8fdc\u8d85\u8fc7\u5e38\u89c4\u9879\u76ee\u3002\u4f46\u51ed\u501f\u4e07\u8c61\u57ce\u3001\u8d85\u7ebf\u516c\u56ed\u3001\u6e2f\u6c47\u5929\u5730\u7b49\u4f17\u591a\u5546\u4e1a\u6807\u6746\u9879\u76ee\u7684\u6210\u529f\u7ecf\u9a8c\uff0c\u8ba9\u6211\u53f8\u6709\u4e86\u4ece\u5bb9\u5e94\u5bf9\u7684\u5e95\u6c14\u3002<\/p>\n

The first challenge in this campaign is the coordination among various professions and expertise. The huge project involves numerous companies on various professional aspects, thus the landscape direction, being the final gatekeeper for the outdoor scenery effect presentation, needs to coordinate and communicate between all partners. By a rough count, our company conducted the liaison and coordination of nearly 20 domestic and foreign professional companies in this project. In the pre-project planning stage, because of the time difference with overseas companies, our company maintained a rate of 1-2 times per week late-night cross-country video conferencing, as well as a large number of e-mail exchanges with the project owner and SYB, JCFO, East China Architecture Institute and other professional partners to coordinate and solve all kinds of problems. The complexity of project control and progression is far more challenging than that of most conventional projects. However, with the successful experience of many benchmark commercial projects, such as the MIXC, Hyperlane and GanghuiTiandi, our company has the confidence to face up to it.<\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u573a\u6218\u5f79\u7684\u7b2c\u4e8c\u4e2a\u6311\u6218\u5219\u662f\u65b9\u6848\u7684\u843d\u5730\u3002SKP\u9879\u76ee\u4ee5\u8700\u5730\u7ec7\u9526\u7684\u7406\u5ff5\u8fdb\u884c\u666f\u89c2\u89c4\u5212\uff0c\u6574\u4e2a\u9879\u76ee\u5206\u4e3a\u5730\u9762\u516c\u56ed\u5c42\u548c\u5730\u4e0b\u5546\u4e1a\u5c42\u4e24\u4e2a\u90e8\u5206\u3002\u690d\u7269\u548c\u94fa\u88c5\u662f\u8fd9\u4e2a\u9879\u76ee\u7684\u4e24\u4e2a\u91cd\u70b9\uff0c\u5730\u9762\u516c\u56ed\u5c42\u4ee5\u690d\u7269\u666f\u89c2\u4e3a\u4e3b\uff0c\u6253\u9020\u4ee4\u4eba\u4eb2\u8fd1\u7684\u4f11\u95f2\u6f2b\u6b65\u82b1\u56ed\uff0c\u5730\u4e0b\u5546\u4e1a\u5c42\u5219\u662f\u4ee5\u94fa\u88c5\u5e7f\u573a\u4e3a\u4e3b\uff0c\u6253\u9020\u4ee4\u4eba\u6e34\u671b\u7684\u65f6\u5c1a\u54c1\u8d28\u8857\u533a\uff0c\u4e24\u4e2a\u90e8\u5206\u573a\u666f\u65e2\u7279\u8272\u8fe5\u5f02\uff0c\u800c\u53c8\u548c\u8c10\u7edf\u4e00\u3002<\/p>\n

The second challenge of this campaign is the implementation of the plan. The landscape of Chengdu SKP project is planned with the concept of Sichuan Brocade handicraft, and the whole project is divided into two parts: the ground park level and the underground commercial level. Landscape plants and pavement are the two mainstays of this project. The ground park level mostly consists of landscape plants to create an intimate and leisurely promenade garden, while the underground commercial level is mostly paved plaza to create a fashionable community of desire. The two scenarios are very different yet harmonious at the same time.<\/p>\n

In order to better reflect the project’s concept of brocade weaving and to ensure the perfect implementation, our company and the project owner did our best to try out different selections of plants and paving materials, constantly searching for samples, modeling and optimizing materials, sourcing throughout the country. We built models for the whole 190,000 square feet of planted landscapes, dynamically analyzing the spatial scenarios. We kept optimizing the layout plans based on the different selections of paving materials, carrying out color analyses accordingly. It took us a whole year from the preliminary project design in May 2021 to the finalization of the material selection in April 2022. It is no exaggeration to say that we never give up until the last minute, for the best presentation of the project.<\/p>\n

Technological challenge is another difficulty we encountered in the project. Facing such a large project, with so many specialties and partners in cooperation at such high standards, the problems and difficulties are complicated, enormous and unpredictable. Because there are many large-scale elevated floors on the project construction site, it is necessary to make careful planning and integrated arrangements for the loading, drainage and concealed installation of devices and facilities in all areas, seeking balance between construction technology and cost control. These issues caused more difficulties to the operation of the project, complicated normal problems and brought more challenges.<\/p>\n

For example, the -7.00M level plaza floor pavement needs to be fully elevated, in accordance to the load and drainage optimization. But in order to achieve the brocade effect of landscape, stone material specifications vary a lot, from the smallest 100 * 100mm plate to the largest 900 * 900mm plate. To ensure an effective paving of stone plates in the whole elevated area, the use of base tray is necessary. At the time there was no relevant case, nor established equipment and facilities in the whole country. With extensive exploration and research through numerous parties, we finally found a national-standard compatible resin grating tray that solved the problem.<\/p>\n

Another example is the landscape water in the project. With the aim of providing a safe and reliable outdoor venue for the citizens of Chengdu, all the water in water-themed landscape spots is expected to meet the drinking water standard. So the planning of landscape water supply finally adopted the option of purified water. This in turn brought new problems: the water purification equipment and the height of the elevated floors severely interfered with each other. For this we carried out a great deal of program coordination and adjustment, involving various professional parties, before finally solving the problem.<\/p>\n

Now that Chengdu SKP has been officially unveiled, we are honored to work with the country’s top developers, designer teams and construction teams to have completed such a great piece of work. The advent of Chengdu SKP will bring about a new spotlight as well as a new direction to the development of Park City Chengdu.<\/p>\n

Our work on the project has now come to an end, but we haven’t stopped thinking about it. As time goes by, are there new possibilities for more upgraded experiences to be had with the 190,000-square-foot park landscape on the ground level? The city of Chengdu has already begun to incorporate pastoral sceneries into its parks and greenway system, kicking off an urban pastoral movement, so what about Chengdu SKP? With the largest rooftop garden of our time, can Chengdu SKP integrate the pastoral scenery to create a new urban pastoral life style?<\/p>\n
