Instinct Fabrication<\/a><\/strong>\uff1aSongshan Lake is famous for 5400-acre natural landscape with meandering lakes and topography. Since HUAWEI set up its headquarter here in 2013, the area has become a largecampus for high-tech companies, laboratories, and colleges, like Silicon Valley. The most of original development only incorporated streets, parking and vegetation.The lack of occupiable quality space and its damaged ecology mismatched the growingcommunity as more residents and workers settled in around the lake in recent years.In 2020 the client-Songshan Lake Management Committee decided to redevelop the public realm of the area, by revitalizing a 86.5-acre site on the northeast corner of the lake.The site includes a dense population, office buildings, residential towers, retail shops, outdated infrastructures, messy vegetation, and segmented water bodies.<\/p>\n

\u4ece\u7a7a\u95f4\u91cf\u53d8\u5230\u751f\u6d3b\u8d28\u53d8 VISION – DIVERSE & RESILIENT PUBLIC SPACE<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u968f\u77402021\u4e00\u671f\u7684\u987a\u5229\u5f00\u5c55\u548c\u843d\u5730\u6210\u6548\uff0c2022\u5e74\u8d77\uff0c\u901a\u6e56\u793c\u5eca\u4e8c\u671f\u9879\u76ee\u53c8\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u5c55\u5f00\u4e86\u5bf9\u677e\u5c71\u6e56\u4e2d\u5fc3\u533a\u4e1c\u897f\u5411\u8d70\u5eca\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\u6539\u9020\u63d0\u5347\u7684\u5b9e\u8df5\u3002\u4e8c\u671f\u6539\u9020\u63d0\u5347\u7684\u7b56\u7565\u66f4\u52a0\u5173\u6ce8\u9897\u7c92\u5ea6\u66f4\u7ec6\u817b\u7684\u4f7f\u7528\u8005\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u4e0d\u540c\u6536\u5165\u4eba\u7fa4\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u5e73\u7b49\u6027\uff0c\u50ac\u5316\u6709\u9ecf\u5ea6\u7684\u793e\u533a\u6d3b\u52a8\u53c2\u4e0e\u53ef\u80fd\u3002\u5728\u91ca\u653e\u81ea\u7136\u5e95\u8272\u7684\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u5851\u9020\u5177\u6709\u97e7\u6027\u7684\u7eff\u8272\u57fa\u7840\u8bbe\u65bd\uff0c\u6fc0\u53d1\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u65bd\u7684\u4f4e\u78b3\u6f5c\u80fd\uff0c\u5851\u9020\u66f4\u8d34\u5408\u5f53\u4e0b\u6237\u5916\u751f\u6d3b\u65e5\u5e38\u7684\u6ee8\u6e56\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002<\/p>\n

The design intervention prioritized the restoration of ecology while subtly integrating amenities such as playgrounds, greenways, and social spaces, with minimal interference to theexisting uses and the original site conditions.<\/p>\n

The second phase of Songshan Lake Public Realm takes both sides of Qinyuan Road as the east-west axis, runs through the central urban area, and forms a space framework crossing with Libin Road. The east-west corridor is closely connected to the city, where the land use attributes and living distribution along the line are more diversified. From sports and entertainment, to scientific research and office, to residential vacation, it is the urban corridor with the most dense and interlaced pedestrian flow.<\/p>\n

The undulating terrain guides the flow of people from the bus station into the visitor center area, which is surrounded by a delicate garden that has been transformed into a visitor service center and parking lot on the north shore of Songshan Lake, but has been abandoned as a negative space for no one to use.<\/p>\n

The terrain and vegetation provide sufficient greenery for the vehicles, and also block the noise for the tourists who rest inside. Along the direction of walking, the vegetation and the rest platform are scattered at different levels, and the clear orientation is convenient for people to reach the destination as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the garden becomes a space for the people waiting for rest to choose to stop and play<\/p>\n

The previous fragmented water bodies resulted in putrid conditions and small flooding events. The strategy is to reconnect and restore these water bodies for water sustainability. A 12-acre water system including wetlands, retention ponds, and swales was aimed to remediate water quality while mitigating seasonal flooding. The system channels runoff from buildings and impervious surfaces to the lakeshore. These efforts also make animals like fish, lizards, frogs, and birds re-appear around the site.<\/p>\n
