Suzhou Suyuan Liuji Architectural Design Office Co., Ltd.<\/strong><\/a>+<\/strong>CSCEC Huaxia International Design Co., Ltd.<\/strong><\/a>+<\/strong>China Northwestern Architectural Design<\/strong><\/a>: The Cultural Park of the Former Suzhou Sericulture College Site (Xiling Hall Park) is located along the riverbank of Xushuguan, one of the “Ten Scenic Spots of the Grand Canal” in Suzhou. Covering a total area of approximately 3.27 hectares, it has been transformed into an urban cultural park on the site of the original Suzhou Sericulture College, which has a century-old history. The completion of this project meets the high-quality environmental needs of the citizens while simultaneously reviving the time-honored memories of the Sericulture College. It becomes a model for cultural revitalization along the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park. The project is divided into two phases, with Phase One already completed and opened to the public.<\/p>\n

\u4f5c\u4e3a\u5927\u8fd0\u6cb3\u6587\u5316\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u7ec4\u6210\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u8695\u6851\u5b66\u6821\u7684\u5386\u53f2\uff0c\u6700\u65e9\u53ef\u4ee5\u8ffd\u6eaf\u52301903\u5e74\u53f2\u91cf\u624d\u521b\u529e\u7684\u4e0a\u6d77\u79c1\u7acb\u5973\u5b50\u8695\u4e1a\u5b66\u5802\u3002\u6b64\u540e\u51e0\u7ecf\u66f4\u540d\u8f97\u8f6c\uff0c\u4e8e\u6297\u65e5\u6218\u4e89\u80dc\u5229\u540e\uff0c\u5b66\u6821\u8fc1\u56de\u6d52\u5885\u5173\u539f\u5740\u590d\u6821\uff0c\u5e76\u4e8e1995\u5e74\u5e76\u5165\u82cf\u5dde\u5927\u5b66\uff0c\u7559\u4e0b\u8be5\u5904\u65e7\u5740\u3002<\/p>\n

As an important part of the Grand Canal culture, the history of the Sericulture College can be traced back to 1903 when it was founded as a private female sericulture school in Shanghai by Shi Liangcai. After undergoing several name changes and relocation, the school returned to its original site in Xushuguan after the victory of War of Resistance Against Japan and merged into Suzhou University in 1995, leaving behind this former site.<\/p>\n

\u5728\u57ce\u5e02\u53d1\u5c55\u7684\u6f14\u8fdb\u4e2d\uff0c\u8695\u6851\u5b66\u6821\u4f5c\u4e3a\u4e2d\u56fd\u8fd1\u4ee3\u6559\u80b2\u53f2\u7684\u89c1\u8bc1\u8005\u9010\u6e10\u88ab\u9057\u5fd8\uff0c\u51dd\u6ede\u4e8e\u57ce\u5e02\u53d1\u5c55\u5386\u7a0b\u4e4b\u4e2d\uff0c\u968f\u7740\u5927\u8fd0\u6cb3\u82cf\u5dde\u6bb5\u7684\u9010\u6b65\u542f\u52a8\uff0c\u8695\u6851\u516c\u56ed\u4f5c\u4e3a\u82cf\u5dde\u8fd0\u6cb3\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u53ca\u4e2d\u56fd\u8695\u6851\u6559\u80b2\u53d1\u5c55\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u8f7d\u4f53\uff0c\u8fce\u6765\u91cd\u751f\u7684\u5951\u673a\u3002\u57ce\u5e02\u683c\u5c40\u7684\u4e0d\u65ad\u66f4\u8fed\u4f7f\u5f97\u8695\u6851\u5b66\u6821\u7684\u81ea\u8eab\u89d2\u8272\u53d1\u4e0a\u4e86\u8f6c\u53d8\uff1a\u4ece\u6559\u80b2\u573a\u6240\u5230\u5f00\u653e\u516c\u5171\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002<\/p>\n

Amidst the evolution of urban development, the Sericulture College, as a witness to modern Chinese education history, gradually faded into oblivion, stagnating with the city’s development . Now, with the gradual activation of the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal, the Sericulture Park, as an important carrier of Suzhou’s canal history and the development of Chinese sericulture education, has come to rebirth. The continuous transformation of the urban landscape has led to a change in the role of the Sericulture College itself: from an educational institution to an open public space.<\/p>\n

\u5982\u4f55\u5728\u5ef6\u7eed\u573a\u6240\u8bb0\u5fc6\u4e0e\u57ce\u5e02\u6587\u5316\u57fa\u56e0\u7684\u540c\u65f6\u9002\u5e94\u65b0\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u516c\u5171\u751f\u6d3b\u804c\u80fd\uff0c\u5c06\u65e7\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u9057\u8ff9\u878d\u5165\u5230\u65b0\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u808c\u7406\u4e4b\u4e2d\uff0c\u4f7f\u5176\u5728\u65b0\u65f6\u4ee3\u80cc\u666f\u4e0b\u6301\u7eed\u7115\u53d1\u6d3b\u529b\uff0c\u6210\u4e3a\u672c\u6b21\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u8bfe\u9898\u3002<\/p>\n

It is one of the most important topics of the design project that how to preserve historical memory and urban cultural heritage while adapting to new public functions within the city, and integrate old historical relics into the new urban fabric with their vitality in the contemporary context.<\/p>\n

By delving into the school’s historical records, the 1957 survey map has been chosen as the basis for identifying key locations that embody the unique cultural characteristics and memories of the campus, and for recreating the campus layout, forming the foundational framework for the landscape design.<\/p>\n

\u5c18\u5c01\u7684\u8bb0\u5fc6\u5e94\u88ab\u5524\u9192\uff0c\u7559\u5b58\u7684\u573a\u6240\u4e9f\u5f85\u6fc0\u6d3b\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u57fa\u4e8e\u6821\u56ed\u7684\u5386\u65f6\u6027\u548c\u516c\u56ed\u7684\u5f53\u4ee3\u6027\uff0c\u5c06\u65e7\u65f6\u6821\u56ed\u8bb0\u5fc6\u573a\u666f\u4e0e\u73b0\u4ee3\u516c\u56ed\u529f\u80fd\u9700\u6c42\u8fdb\u884c\u5bf9\u4f4d\u91cd\u53e0\uff0c\u5229\u7528\u4f4e\u5e72\u9884\u7684\u9488\u7078\u5f0f\u6539\u9020\u5c06\u573a\u5730\u529f\u80fd\u8fdb\u884c\u5ef6\u7eed\u3002<\/p>\n

The dusty memory are to be awakened, and the retained sites are ready to be reloaded. Based on the diachronicity of the campus and the contemporaneity of the park, the design seeks to merge the memorial scenarios of the old campus with the contemporary functional needs of a park, using minimally intrusive pinpoint renovation to maintain the site’s functionality.<\/p>\n

The campus gate embodies deep memories for generations of students at the Suzhou Sericulture College. Following the old photographs, the original styled campus gate has been faithfully restored in a 1:1 ratio, shaping the entrance interface to recreate the scenes of campus life from bygone days.<\/p>\n

In 1918, Zheng Pijiang assumed the role of principal at the Jiangsu Women’s Sericulture School (i.e., Suzhou Sericulture College), elevating the vocational education function of the sericulture college to its zenith. The design project aims to meticulously restore and relocate the commemorative sculpture of Zheng Pijiang beneath the ancient fragrant camphor tree at the central square, oriented towards the west gate, serving as the focal point for the square’s spatial sequence.<\/p>\n

\u5e7f\u573a\u5317\u4fa7\u7684\u50ac\u9752\u697c\u53c8\u540d\u7eff\u53f6\u697c\uff0c\u57281912\u5e74\u20141937\u5e74\u4f5c\u4e3a\u8695\u5ba4\u697c\u4f7f\u7528\uff0c\u662f\u552f\u4e00\u4fdd\u7559\u7684\u6218\u524d\u6559\u5b66\u5efa\u7b51\u3002\u672c\u6b21\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4f9d\u636e\u539f\u697c\u7167\u7247\uff0c\u7ed3\u5408\u6c11\u56fd\u5efa\u7b51\u98ce\u683c\u8fdb\u884c\u4fee\u7f2e\u548c\u4eae\u5316\u63d0\u5347\uff0c\u4f5c\u4e3a\u516c\u56ed\u5ba4\u5185\u5c55\u9648\u573a\u6240\u3002<\/p>\n

The Cuiqing Building, also known as the Luye Building and situated to the north of the square, served as a silkworm rearing facility from 1912 to 1937, representing the sole surviving pre-war educational building. Additionally, the northern entrance area needs to be re-defined. To address these areas, a distinctive transformation plan has been devised to revitalize the park while maintaining continuity with the existing functional nodes, thus creating extensive interaction between the old and the new, and fostering a cultural experience that transcends time and space.<\/p>\n
