XU Studio<\/a>\uff1a<\/strong>The guide\u00a0system of Phase II\u00a0is not a mere continuation of the first phase but a bold breakthrough and innovation. After years of operation, Columbia Circle\u00a0has successfully transformed into a cultural landmark highly sought after by the younger generation, and the architecture of the second phase itself is distinctive and recognizable. Based on this, after multiple rounds of in-depth discussions, the designers and the client’s design team reached a consensus: to abandon the traditional approach of an independent guide\u00a0system and instead adopt the new concept of ”\u00a0parasitic identification.” This creates a symbiotic relationship between the guide\u00a0system and the building itself.<\/p>\n

The pool mosaic in Phase I have always been regarded as the “soul” of the project, carrying the historical memory and cultural heritage of Columbia Circle. In the design of the Phase II\u00a0guide\u00a0system, the designers ingeniously extracted three classic colors from the pool mosaics and used squares as the basic form for evolution and combination. This perfectly blends historical elements with modern design language, preserving the cultural heritage of the project while infusing the guide\u00a0system with new visual vitality.<\/p>\n

With the official opening of Phase II, the campus scale has further expanded, placing higher demands on the functionality of the guide\u00a0system. To meet visitors’ needs for quick\u00a0wayfinding\u00a0and convenient navigation, we meticulously designed brand new\u00a0campus guide\u00a0system.<\/p>\n

Thanks to our long-term and in-depth collaboration with Columbia Circle\u2014including the enhancement of the phase\u00a0I\u00a0commercial atmosphere, tenant shop guideline design, phase\u00a0II\u00a0architectural refinement, public area design, and guide\u00a0system design\u2014we have a profound understanding and insight into the campus’s historical context, architectural features, and visitor behavior patterns. In this guide\u00a0design, we extracted core elements from the historic preservation buildings and\u00a0distinctive\u00a0buildings, abstracting them into concise and clear graphic symbols, and presenting them artistically with\u00a0characteristic\u00a0materials. At the same time, we paid special attention to the nighttime effect, ensuring that the wayfinding information remains\u00a0clear and visible\u00a0at night through a carefully designed lighting system.<\/p>\n

With the opening of the underground parking lot, the Anxi Road entrance has also undergone a comprehensive upgrade. For this area, we specially designed clear and eye-catching parking guidance devices,\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>ingeniously integrating the metal mesh elements from nearby buildings to create a guiding installation\u00a0that combines shading functionality with visual aesthetics through a\u00a0concise\u00a0structure. This design not only effectively avoids the visual clutter caused by traditional sunshades but also addresses the inconvenience of storage during windy weather, fully embodying the concept of humanized design.<\/p>\n
