GVL<\/strong><\/a>\uff1aThe Yinchuan No. 1 Reclaimed Water Plant has made a significant contribution to solving the local water shortage problem. However, this huge grey facility has also brought many negative impacts to surrounding communities. Landscape architects have successfully mitigated these effects by converting the massive wastewater plant into a dynamic urban park, creating a socially beneficial, environmentally resilient, and community-inclusive public space. Thereby, the project has reshaped people’s negative preconceptions about the water plant and has also improved local ecology, biodiversity, and land value, benefiting the 400,000 nearby residents. This initiative serves as a model for transforming grey facilities into green infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u94f6\u5ddd\u7b2c\u4e00\u518d\u751f\u6c34\u5382\u5750\u843d\u4e8e\u4e2d\u56fd\u897f\u5317\u5730\u533a\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u2014\u2014\u94f6\u5ddd\u5e02\uff0c\u53e4\u4e1d\u7ef8\u4e4b\u8def\u7684\u5546\u8d38\u91cd\u9547\u3002\u8be5\u533a\u57df\u5730\u5904\u6c99\u6f20\u548c\u9ec4\u571f\u9ad8\u539f\u7684\u5305\u56f4\u4e4b\u4e2d\uff0c\u6781\u4e3a\u5e72\u65f1\u7f3a\u6c34\uff0c\u800c\u5468\u8fb9\u7684\u7ecf\u6d4e\u53d1\u5c55\u53c8\u9700\u8981\u5927\u91cf\u7684\u6c34\u6e90\uff0c\u4e8e\u662f\u96c4\u5fc3\u52c3\u52c3\u7684\u5f53\u5730\u653f\u5e9c\u5174\u5efa\u4e86\u4e00\u5ea7\u6c61\u6c34\u5904\u7406\u89c4\u6a2131.6\u4e07m\u00b3\/d\u7684\u5927\u578b\u518d\u751f\u6c34\u5382\u6765\u7f13\u89e3\u533a\u57df\u7f3a\u6c34\u7684\u95ee\u9898\u3002\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4f4d\u4e8e\u5e02\u533a\u7684\u201c\u5de8\u65e0\u9738\u201d\u6c34\u5382\u7684\u5360\u5730\u9762\u79ef\u5c31\u8fbe\u5230\u4e8623\u4e07\u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\uff0c\u5bf9\u4e8e\u5468\u8fb9\u7684\u793e\u533a\u4ea7\u751f\u4e86\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u7684\u8d1f\u9762\u5f71\u54cd\uff0c\u5176\u4e2d\u5305\u62ec\u4e86\u566a\u58f0\u3001\u6c14\u5473\u3001\u7c89\u5c18\u3001\u6c61\u6c34\u3001\u571f\u58e4\u3001\u751f\u6001\u73af\u5883\u7b49\u7684\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u5de8\u5927\u6c34\u5382\u5efa\u7b51\u4f53\u5e26\u6765\u7684\u89c6\u89c9\u4e0a\u7684\u538b\u8feb\u611f\uff0c\u5468\u8fb9\u7684\u5730\u4ef7\u4e5f\u56e0\u6b64\u88ab\u62c9\u4f4e\uff0c\u5468\u8fb9\u7684\u5c45\u6c11\u907f\u4e4b\u4e0d\u53ca\u3002<\/p>\n

The Yinchuan No. 1 Reclaimed Water Plant, located in the arid city of Yinchuan, China, was constructed to address water scarcity issues. Its large structure and negative impacts, such as noise and odor, diminished the value of the adjacent land. To mitigate these issues, landscape architects were engaged to design an urban park above the water plant. Inspired by the local topography, the park boasts terraced gardens and sports facilities, using the excavated soil to conceal the plant and minimize its impact. Now, the park provides recreational, conservation, and educational spaces for the community, along with habitats for wildlife, all of these are sustained by the plant’s recycled tailwater for irrigation and lake creation.<\/p>\n

Landscape designers use landscape strategies to address the above challenges. It took several months of close cooperation with the engineers of the water plant to propose the idea of creating an urban park integrating leisure and entertainment, ecological conservation and environmental education above the water plant. The inspiration for the curved shape of the park comes from the Outlines of the surrounding mountains and rivers, and it also combines the functions of drainage and rainwater collection. The designer utilized the original earthwork on the site to cover the huge building structure with soil to create a richly layered terraced garden, which was used to alleviate the negative impacts brought by the water plant. At the same time, it also provided high-quality activity Spaces for sports, leisure, entertainment, gatherings, nature exploration, and science popularization education. It meets the demands of the surrounding residents for high-quality public open Spaces and provides habitats for wild animals. In addition, the designer also uses the tail water from the water plant as the water source for the artificial lake, irrigation water and other landscape water, and adds popular science displays on environmental education, making the park a green infrastructure that conveys the concept of sustainable water conservation.<\/p>\n

Concealing the Water Plant<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6c34\u5382\u4e2d\u6700\u5927\u7684\u6784\u7b51\u7269\uff0cA2O \u751f\u7269\u6c60\u89c4\u6a21\u8fbe\u5230\u4e86 320 \u7c73X160 \u7c73X 6 \u7c73\uff0c\u5360\u5730\u9762\u79ef\u8fbe 54000 \u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\u3002\u5982\u6b64\u5e9e\u5927\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u4f53\u91cf\uff0c\u7ed9\u5468\u8fb9\u73af\u5883\u5e26\u6765\u4e86\u663e\u8457\u7684\u89c6\u89c9\u538b\u529b\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\u566a\u97f3\u4e0e\u6c14\u5473\u95ee\u9898\u4e5f\u4e9f\u5f85\u89e3\u51b3\u3002\u9762\u5bf9\u8fd9\u4e00\u6311\u6218\uff0c\u666f\u89c2\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u51ed\u501f\u4e13\u4e1a\u7d20\u517b\u4e0e\u521b\u65b0\u601d\u7ef4\uff0c\u63d0\u51fa\u4e86\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u79d1\u5b66\u5408\u7406\u7684\u89e3\u51b3\u65b9\u6848\u3002<\/p>\n

\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u5145\u5206\u8003\u91cf\u73b0\u573a\u6761\u4ef6\uff0c\u5de7\u5999\u5229\u7528\u897f\u4fa7\u4eba\u5de5\u6e56\u533a\u57df\u53ca\u6c34\u5382\u6c34\u6c60\u7684\u571f\u65b9\uff0c\u5bf9\u751f\u5316\u6c60\u5efa\u7b51\u8fdb\u884c\u4e86\u906e\u76d6\u4e0e\u9690\u85cf\u5904\u7406\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u7cbe\u51c6\u7684\u571f\u65b9\u5e73\u8861\u64cd\u4f5c\uff0c\u5851\u9020\u51fa\u6e56\u9762\u3001\u53f0\u5730\u4e0e\u5fae\u4e18\u5730\u5f62\uff0c\u4e0d\u4ec5\u6210\u529f\u6d88\u9690\u4e86\u5efa\u7b51\u7684\u5e9e\u5927\u4f53\u91cf\uff0c\u66f4\u5b9e\u73b0\u4e86\u73b0\u573a\u6750\u6599\u7684\u9ad8\u6548\u518d\u5229\u7528\uff0c\u6700\u5927\u5316\u63d0\u5347\u4e86\u573a\u5730\u7684\u6574\u4f53\u6548\u80fd\u3002<\/p>\n

\u4e3a\u4e86\u6ee1\u8db3\u5730\u4e0b\u5382\u623f\u91c7\u5149\u548c\u901a\u98ce\u7684\u9700\u8981\uff0c\u516c\u56ed\u5185\u8bbe\u7f6e\u4e86 8 \u4e2a\u5927\u578b\u91c7\u5149\u5929\u7a97\u4e0e 78 \u4e2a\u5149\u5bfc\u7ba1\uff0c\u6e38\u5ba2\u8fd8\u53ef\u4ee5\u901a\u8fc7\u91c7\u5149\u7a97\u76f4\u89c2\u4e86\u89e3\u6c61\u6c34\u5904\u7406\u7684\u5168\u8fc7\u7a0b\uff0c\u8fd9\u79cd\u5de7\u5999\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u65e2\u6ee1\u8db3\u4e86\u516c\u4f17\u7684\u79d1\u666e\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u53c8\u786e\u4fdd\u4e86\u6c34\u5382\u7684\u7167\u660e\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u5b9e\u73b0\u4e86\u8fd0\u8425\u529f\u80fd\u4e0e\u666f\u89c2\u7684\u5b8c\u7f8e\u878d\u5408\u3002<\/p>\n

The largest building in the plant, the A2O biological pool, presented a visual and sensory challenge. Landscape architects ingeniously utilized excavated soil to cover and integrate the 54,000 square meters pool, creating a balanced earthwork design that included a lake, terraces, and landforms. Skylights and tubular daylighting systems were incorporated into the park, not only brightening the underground facility but also offering visitors a unique view of the wastewater treatment process without interfering the plant’s operations.<\/p>\n

\u6b64\u5916\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u5e08\u5728\u573a\u5730\u5e03\u7f6e\u8d855000\u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\u7684\u4f4e\u5f71\u54cd\u5f00\u53d1\uff08LID\uff09\u8bbe\u65bd\uff0c\u9ad8\u6548\u6536\u96c6\u96e8\u6c34\u3002\u96e8\u6c34\u7ecf\u7ba1\u7f51\u8f93\u9001\u81f3\u6e7f\u5730\u4e0e\u6e56\u533a\uff0c\u6bcf\u5e74\u53ef\u51c0\u5316\u7ea62\u4e07\u5428\u96e8\u6c34\uff0c\u56de\u7528\u4e8e\u666f\u89c2\u6c34\u666f\u4e0e\u690d\u7269\u704c\u6e89\uff0c\u663e\u8457\u964d\u4f4e\u81ea\u6765\u6c34\u6d88\u8017\uff0c\u51cf\u5c11\u5bf9\u5468\u8fb9\u81ea\u7136\u6c34\u7cfb\u7684\u6c61\u67d3\u98ce\u9669\uff0c\u5168\u65b9\u4f4d\u8df5\u884c\u7eff\u8272\u751f\u6001\u7406\u5ff5\u3002<\/p>\n

To ensure a reliable water supply for the park’s water features, landscape architects collaborated with wastewater engineers to divert treated tailwater into the wetland and lake, achieving a 100% recycling rate for the water used. The tailwater from the plant undergoes a thorough purification, filtration, and disinfection process before cascading through a scenic waterfall, which doubles as an aeration and filtering system.<\/p>\n

Additionally, rainwater is harvested via 5,000 square meters of designed Low Impact Development facilities and conveyed into the wetland and lake area, thereby mitigating flooding and pollution risks.<\/p>\n
