Thinking Design<\/strong><\/a>: This project is located in a small mountain village in Zeya, Zhejiang Province \u2014 a village hidden among the mountains, where only a few elderly residents and houses built with stacked stones remain. <\/span> Having withstood the wind and rain for a hundred years, these stones are covered with moss and weeds. <\/span> They bear the marks of time, as if whispering tales of a century-long solitude to their descendants.<\/span><\/p>\n

The building complex sits on a south-facing slope, and its overall shape is entirely determined by the terrain. <\/span> The building volumes are arranged in a scattered yet orderly manner, integrating with the mountain. <\/span> The exterior walls are constructed using local stones, achieving material consistency with the landscape retaining walls. <\/span> This creates a greater visual extension, enabling the buildings to blend organically with the natural environment and creating a quiet retreat that is far from the hustle and bustle and hidden in nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

The reception hall is surrounded by several big trees, with weeds growing on its roof and parallel light-and-shadow projections on the stone walls. <\/span> The building is constructed with stone walls and old timber; <\/span> the stone walls are preserved indoors to echo the exterior of the building, while also maintaining the best viewing angles.<\/span><\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9 and the infinity pool face the valley, offering an unobstructed view of birdsong, streams, and the forested mountains opposite. <\/span> The caf\u00e9 retains the plain fair-faced concrete walls, matched with mid-century furniture, creating a simple and relaxed atmosphere in the entire space. <\/span> Large-area glass doors bring the bamboo forest in front into the room, filling the eyes with greenery. <\/span> Whether you are sipping tea or reading, the space always exudes tranquility and harmony.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the guest room walls, micro-cement is used, and the roofs are built with locally recycled old wooden beams. <\/span> Additionally, there are century-old furniture pieces and handicrafts. <\/span> Blending modern and traditional elements, the design traces back to nature and returns to the essence, seeking a balance between simplicity and modernity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The building adopts a brutalist style and is covered with soil, as if growing out of the earth, blending perfectly with nature. <\/span> The guest rooms are built along the stream; <\/span> each room is equipped with an independent courtyard and an overhead bridge, which must be used to enter the room (crossing over the stream). <\/span> The courtyards are lush with vegetation, allowing people to truly feel the changes of seasons and temperatures.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interior combines local natural materials such as rocks and recycled old wood, paired with linen bedding and mid-century furniture, integrating light and air. <\/span> It is simple yet does not lack quality. <\/span> Each room is equipped with a light well to enhance daylighting and ventilation, and large-area floor-to-ceiling glass brings the valley scenery into the room, creating a quiet retreat far away from the city.<\/span><\/p>\n
