GOA<\/strong><\/a>: SUNYATA Hotel Datong is an extremely challenging resort hotel project \u2013 located in a significant corner of the ancient city of Datong, yet lacking immediately stunning, direct scenery to borrow or rely on. The hotel architecture had to find an appropriate posture to narrate the profound history, integrate into the present life of the ancient city, and construct a cultural field capable of conversing with Datong’s 2,300 years of history.<\/p>\n

\u5927\u540c\u662f\u7b2c\u4e00\u6279\u56fd\u5bb6\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u540d\u57ce\u3002\u5317\u9b4f\u4e0e\u8fbd\u91d1\u7684\u539a\u91cd\u5386\u53f2\u5728\u6b64\u5199\u5c31\uff0c\u7559\u4e0b\u4e91\u5188\u77f3\u7a9f\u3001\u5e94\u53bf\u6728\u5854\u3001\u5584\u5316\u5bfa\u7b49\u6770\u4f5c\u3002\u8fd1\u4ee3\uff0c\u5927\u540c\u8fc5\u901f\u6210\u4e3a\u4e2d\u56fd\u5317\u65b9\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u80fd\u6e90\u57fa\u5730\uff0c\u8f89\u714c\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u9057\u4ea7\u4e00\u5ea6\u88ab\u5c18\u5c01\u30022008\u5e74\u4ee5\u6765\uff0c\u201c\u4e00\u8f74\u53cc\u57ce\u201d\u683c\u5c40\u7684\u63d0\u51fa\uff0c\u63ed\u5f00\u4e86\u53e4\u57ce\u6587\u5316\u590d\u5174\u7684\u5e8f\u5e55\uff0c\u5386\u53f2\u540d\u57ce\u7684\u5149\u5f69\u6b63\u5728\u91cd\u65b0\u663e\u73b0\u4e0e\u7115\u53d1\u3002<\/p>\n

Datong is one of the first batch of National Historical and Cultural Cities. The profound histories of the Northern Wei, Liao, and Jin dynasties were written here, leaving masterpieces like the Yungang Grottoes, the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Shanhua Temple. In modern times, Datong rapidly became an important energy base in Northern China, its glorious historical and cultural heritage once shrouded in dust. Since 2008, the proposal of the “One Axis, Twin Cities” structure unveiled the prelude to the cultural revival of the ancient city, and the splendor of this historical city is gradually re-emerging and rejuvenating.<\/p>\n

\u65e2\u4e0b\u5c71\u00b7\u5927\u540c\u7684\u5efa\u9020\u4fbf\u5904\u4e8e\u8fd9\u4e00\u5386\u53f2\u8fdb\u7a0b\u4e4b\u4e2d\u3002\u9152\u5e97\u6240\u5904\u7684\u4e1c\u5357\u9091\u5386\u53f2\u6587\u5316\u8857\u533a\uff0c\u4f4d\u4e8e\u5927\u540c\u53e4\u57ce\u7684\u4e1c\u5357\u9685\u3002\u4e0d\u540c\u4e8e\u5b8f\u5927\u5730\u6807\u7684\u4fee\u5efa\u5de5\u7a0b\uff0c\u4e1c\u5357\u9091\u7684\u5efa\u8bbe\u4ee5\u201c\u6d3b\u6001\u4f20\u627f\u201d\u4e3a\u5f15\u9886\uff0c\u66f4\u5173\u6ce8\u4e8e\u5fae\u89c2\u5c42\u9762\u7684\u5185\u5bb9\u548c\u8fd0\u8425\uff0c\u76ee\u6807\u662f\u6253\u9020\u4e00\u4e2a\u5927\u540c\u7684\u6587\u5316\u4f1a\u5ba2\u5385\u548c\u57ce\u5e02\u76ee\u7684\u5730\u3002<\/p>\n

The construction of SUNYATA Hotel Datong is part of this historical process. The hotel is located in the Southeast Yi Historical and Cultural Block, situated in the southeastern corner of the ancient city of Datong. Unlike the construction of grand landmarks, the development of Southeast Yi is guided by the concept of “living heritage,” focusing more on micro-level content and operation, with the goal of creating a cultural reception hall and urban destination for Datong.<\/p>\n

\u65e2\u4e0b\u5c71\u00b7\u5927\u540c\u7684\u5efa\u8bbe\u4e0e\u4e1c\u5357\u9091\u7684\u6210\u5f62\uff0c\u4e43\u81f3\u6574\u4e2a\u53e4\u57ce\u7684\u518d\u751f\u76f8\u4f34\u76f8\u751f\u3002goa\u5927\u8c61\u8bbe\u8ba1\u4f5c\u4e3a\u9152\u5e97\u7684\u5efa\u7b51\u8bbe\u8ba1\u65b9\uff0c\u4e0e\u65e2\u4e0b\u5c71\u643a\u624b\u8d70\u8fc7\u4e94\u5e74\uff0c\u53c2\u4e0e\u4e86\u9152\u5e97\u5b9e\u73b0\u7684\u5168\u8fc7\u7a0b\u3002<\/p>\n

The construction of hotel accompanied the formation of Southeast Yi and the regeneration of the entire ancient city. As the architectural design firm for the hotel, GOA walked hand-in-hand with SUNYATA for five years, participating in the entire process of the hotel’s realization.<\/p>\n

\u5317\u9b4f\u5e73\u57ce\uff08\u5373\u4eca\u5927\u540c\uff09\u662f\u4e2d\u56fd\u5386\u53f2\u4e0a\u7b2c\u4e00\u4e2a\u5927\u89c4\u6a21\u3001\u6709\u8ba1\u5212\u5730\u63a8\u884c\u91cc\u574a\u5236\u7684\u90fd\u57ce\u3002\u5386\u53f2\u5b66\u5bb6\u9648\u5bc5\u606a\u6307\u51fa\uff0c\u968b\u5510\u957f\u5b89\u57ce\u6574\u9f50\u5212\u4e00\u7684\u91cc\u574a\u5236\uff0c\u5176\u6e90\u5934\u5c31\u5728\u5317\u9b4f\u5e73\u57ce\u3002\u660e\u671d\u6d2a\u6b66\u4e94\u5e74\uff081372\u5e74\uff09\u5f90\u8fbe\u7684\u589e\u7b51\u5de5\u7a0b\u5219\u5960\u5b9a\u4e86\u5927\u540c\u53e4\u57ce\u5ef6\u7eed\u81f3\u4eca\u7684\u91cc\u574a\u683c\u5c40\u3001\u8857\u5df7\u7cfb\u7edf\u3002<\/p>\n

A Hotel in Symbiosis with the Ancient City<\/p>\n

Pingcheng of the Northern Wei Dynasty (modern-day Datong) was the first capital in Chinese history to implement the Lifang (ward) system on a large scale and in a planned manner. Historian Chen Yinke pointed out that the source of the uniform Lifang system of the Sui-Tang capital Chang’an lies in the Northern Wei’s Pingcheng. The expansion project led by Xu Da in the fifth year of the Hongwu era (1372 AD) of the Ming Dynasty established the Lifang pattern and street network of the ancient city of Datong that continues to this day.<\/p>\n
