In the lanes, climbing Boston ivy is once again creeping up the old brick walls. Sunlight filters through the newly installed canopy, casting flickering pools of light onto the gravel-paved ground. Along the terraced edge of the main passage, someone sets down a coffee cup and leans against the red brick wall, watching people come and go through the alley. At a corner, a group of elegantly dressed elders pose for photos against the old brickwall\u2014they are former residents of this lifen, returning to take a look now that the project has opened. This is everyday life at Yanqing Li: a 92-year-old lifen neighborhood that, after careful mending, has rejoined the daily life of the city with renewed vitality.<\/p>\n
