This design project involved the renovation of an existing garden. The plan redefines spatial relationships, reshapes the order of the garden and redefines the rhythm of life.<\/p>\n

\u5165\u53e3\uff5c\u8ba9\u5f52\u5bb6\u7684\u8def\u5f84\u56de\u5230\u81ea\u7136\u4e4b\u4e2d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u91cd\u65b0\u8c03\u6574\u5165\u53e3\u4f4d\u7f6e\uff0c\u662f\u6b64\u6b21\u82b1\u56ed\u6539\u9020\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u5f00\u59cb\u3002<\/p>\n

Entrance | Bringing the Path Home Back to Nature<\/p>\n

Re-positioning the entrance marked the crucial starting point of this garden renovation.<\/p>\n

After on-site observations and an analysis of spatial relationships, our design team and the client agreed to alter the original entry approach, transforming the entrance into a gentle transition that connects indoor and outdoor living. We therefore shifted the entrance to the left and unexpectedly discovered three small trees growing naturally in a cluster. We chose to preserve them, allowing the trees to serve as a natural guide to the entrance.<\/p>\n

Pavilion | A Resting Place Floating on the Water<\/p>\n

The pavilion is a key element in reestablishing spatial relationships during the renovation of the backyard.<\/p>\n

The original pavilion was completely open, although it connected to the water feature, it lacked comfort for practical use.<\/p>\n

In the proposed design, the pavilion\u2019s volume extends toward the water\u2019s surface, with a cantilevered platform gently reaching into the water, the structure is given a sense of floating close to the water\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n

The materials continue the garden\u2019s overall rustic aesthetic. Washed stone forms the base material, retaining a tactile texture that balances delicate smoothness and rustic characters. The facade wraps the original dark metal structure in warm wood tones, softening the building\u2019s inherent austerity and creating a more harmonious relationship between the pavilion and the surrounding vegetation and water surface.<\/p>\n

Water Features | Nature Unfolds Gradually Over Time<\/p>\n

After the renovation of the backyard was completed, the pond became one of the most important landscape elements.<\/p>\n

\u9664\u4e86\u4f4f\u6237\u517b\u62a4\u9526\u9ca4\u7684\u5b9e\u9645\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u6c34\u6c60\u4e5f\u6210\u4e3a\u8fde\u63a5\u4ead\u5b50\u3001\u690d\u7269\u4e0e\u5efa\u7b51\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u7ebd\u5e26\u3002<\/p>\n

Beyond serving the residents\u2019 practical need to care for their koi, the pond also acts as a vital link connecting the pavilion, the plants, and the architecture.<\/p>\n

Looking out through the floor-to-ceiling windows, a sculpted tree is the first thing to catch the eye. Growing in a corner of the garden, its branches and leaves spread out naturally, leaning slightly toward the water\u2019s surface, as if maintaining a quiet dialogue with the water.<\/p>\n

\u6c34\u9762\u4e4b\u4e0a\uff0c\u7eef\u8272\u9526\u9ca4\u7a7f\u884c\u5176\u4e2d\uff0c\u7ea2\u8272\u4e0e\u7eff\u53f6\u7684\u5012\u5f71\u5728\u6c34\u5149\u4e2d\u76f8\u4e92\u6620\u7167\u3002\u8fd9\u4efd\u81ea\u7136\u5f62\u6210\u7684\u5173\u7cfb\u66f4\u663e\u5e73\u8861\uff0c\u4e5f\u8ba9\u82b1\u56ed\u5448\u73b0\u51fa\u4e00\u79cd\u5b89\u9759\u800c\u9c9c\u6d3b\u7684\u72b6\u6001\u3002<\/p>\n

On the water\u2019s surface, crimson koi dart through the water, their red hues and the reflections of green leaves mirroring one another in the shimmering water. The naturally formed relationship enhances the sense of balance and lends the garden a tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\u6211\u4eec\u8bbe\u7f6e\u4e86\u4e00\u5757\u81ea\u7136\u77f3\u6750\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6c34\u6d41\u7684\u8d77\u70b9\u3002\u5f00\u51fa\u4e00\u9053\u7ec6\u5fae\u7684\u7f1d\u9699\uff0c\u5e76\u7ed3\u5408\u91d1\u5c5e\u5bfc\u6c34\u6784\u4ef6\uff0c\u8ba9\u6c34\u6d41\u4ece\u77f3\u95f4\u7f13\u7f13\u6ea2\u51fa\u6d41\u5165\u6c60\u4e2d\u3002<\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u5904\u666f\u77f3\u6e90\u4e8e\u5bf9\u91ce\u53e3\u52c7\u666f\u89c2\u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u7406\u89e3\u3002\u4ed6\u5e38\u5c06\u5177\u6709\u96d5\u5851\u611f\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u7269\u7f6e\u5165\u7a7a\u95f4\uff0c\u4f7f\u5176\u4e0d\u53ea\u662f\u89c2\u770b\u5bf9\u8c61\uff0c\u800c\u6210\u4e3a\u4eba\u4e0e\u73af\u5883\u4ea4\u6d41\u7684\u5a92\u4ecb\u3002<\/p>\n

We placed a natural stone to serve as the starting point for the water flow. By carving a subtle crevice and incorporating metal water-guiding components, the water is allowed to slowly overflow from between the stones and flow into the pond.<\/p>\n

This landscape rock draws inspiration from our interpretation of Isamu Noguchi\u2019s landscape works. He often placed sculptural natural objects within spaces; these pieces function not merely as ornamental decorations but also as mediators of interaction between human and the environment.<\/p>\n

Platform | Extending Life into Nature<\/p>\n

The original platform was rather cramped and primarily served as a transitional space connecting the interior and exterior. The client wished to reshape this single-purpose relationship.<\/p>\n

Therefore, we extended the platform outward, readjusting its distance from the garden.<\/p>\n

\u690d\u7269\u4e4b\u95f4\u6563\u843d\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u77f3\u5757\uff0c\u662f\u540e\u82b1\u56ed\u4e2d\u53e6\u4e00\u5904\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u7ec6\u8282\u3002\u8bbe\u8ba1\u501f\u9274\u4e86\u91ce\u53e3\u52c7\u5bf9\u4e8e\u81ea\u7136\u7269\u4e0e\u666f\u89c2\u5173\u7cfb\u7684\u7406\u89e3\u3002\u5728\u4ed6\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u4e2d\uff0c\u77f3\u6750\u5e38\u5e38\u4e0d\u53ea\u662f\u666f\u89c2\u5143\u7d20\uff0c\u800c\u5177\u6709\u72ec\u7acb\u7684\u96d5\u5851\u6027\u4e0e\u5b58\u5728\u611f\u3002<\/p>\n

The natural stones scattered among the plants are another important design detail in the backyard. The design draws inspiration from Isamu Noguchi\u2019s interpretation of the relationship between natural objects and the landscape. In his works, stones are far more than landscape elements, boasting independent sculptural identity and presence.<\/p>\n

Plants serve as a buffer between the base of the wall and the hard landscaping. Gravel, groundcover, and low shrubs intertwine, mimicking the gradual spread of vegetation in a natural environment.<\/p>\n

The entire garden renovation has consistently centered on a sense of nature and vitality. We envisioned the finished space would not be a static, fully completed garden design but rather a space that continues to evolve alongside daily life. As time passes and plants grow, humans and nature gradually forge a bond within this space.<\/p>\n
