The project is located in the core area of Huaxi District, Guiyang. The site was originally a sloped hillside cut, sharply separated from surrounding urban roads and planned commercial frontages. We define it as a composite field: a “participatory slope park in the city centre + an open block.” Using a large one-directional grass slope as the medium, we break through the conventional planning practice that separates commerce from parks with green belts or walls, achieving visual continuity, interwoven circulation, and functional complementarity between commercial energy and natural serenity.<\/p>\n

\u9879\u76ee\u8bbe\u8ba1\u8303\u56f4\u662f\u957f\u7ea6180\u7c73\uff0c\u5bbd\u7ea640~50\u7c73\u7684\u72ed\u957f\u573a\u5730\uff0c\u5176\u4e2d10\u7c73\u5bbd\u4e3a\u7ea2\u7ebf\u5916\uff0c\u516c\u56ed\u5b9e\u9645\u7528\u5730\u5bbd\u5ea6\u4ec530~40\u7c73\u3002\u5728\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u72ed\u957f\u7a7a\u95f4\u91cc\uff0c\u5546\u4e1a\u5916\u6446\u3001\u5f52\u5bb6\u9053\u8def\u3001\u516c\u56ed\u7eff\u5730\u76f8\u4e92\u4ea4\u7ec7\uff0c\u6253\u9020\u5bb6\u95e8\u53e3\u7684\u5546\u8857\u516c\u56ed\u3002\u901a\u8fc7\u7eff\u5730\u6a21\u7cca\u516c\u56ed\u4e0e\u5761\u5730\u7684\u754c\u9650\uff0c\u6210\u7247\u5355\u5411\u8349\u5761\u6210\u4e3a\u516c\u56ed\u7684\u7eff\u8272\u80cc\u666f\uff0c\u5c06\u573a\u5730\u72ed\u957f\u3001\u9ad8\u5dee\u5927\u7684\u4e0d\u5229\u56e0\u7d20\u8f6c\u53d8\u4e3a\u516c\u56ed\u7279\u8272\u666f\u89c2\u3002<\/p>\n

\u7ea2\u7ebf\u5916\u539f\u6709\u7684\u5761\u5411\u5c71\u4f53\uff0c\u8bbe\u8ba1\u56e2\u961f\u5bf9\u5761\u5ea6\u4e0e\u571f\u8d28\u8fdb\u884c\u53cd\u590d\u4f18\u5316\uff0c\u786e\u4fdd\u5b89\u5168\u6027\u4e0e\u53c2\u4e0e\u6027\u3002\u4e3b\u5761\u9762\u5761\u5ea6\u6bd4\u63a7\u5236\u57281:3 ~ 1:4\u4e4b\u95f4\uff0c\u9002\u5408\u884c\u8d70\u3001\u5750\u5367\u3001\u8f7b\u5ea6\u7ffb\u6eda\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\u907f\u514d\u9ad8\u901f\u6ed1\u8349\u5e26\u6765\u7684\u5b89\u5168\u9690\u60a3\u3002\u571f\u58e4\u6539\u826f\u540e\u8986\u76d6\u8010\u8e29\u8e0f\u8349\u79cd\uff08\u767e\u6155\u5927\u8349+\u9ed1\u9ea6\u8349\u6df7\u64ad\uff09\uff0c\u5e74\u7ef4\u62a4\u4fee\u526a6-8\u6b21\uff0c\u5728\u81ea\u7136\u91ce\u8da3\u4e0e\u7cbe\u7ec6\u5316\u517b\u62a4\u4e4b\u95f4\u53d6\u5f97\u5e73\u8861\u3002<\/p>\n

From “Isolation” to “Symbiosis”<\/p>\n

The design site is a narrow strip about 180 metres long and 40\u201350 metres wide, of which 10 metres are outside the red line; the actual park width is only 30\u201340 metres. In such a constrained linear space, commercial outdoor seating, access roads for residents, and park greenery interweave to create a “street park at the doorstep.” By using the green space to blur the boundary between the park and the slope, the continuous one-directional grass slope becomes the park’s green backdrop, turning the site’s narrowness and significant height differences into a distinctive landscape feature.<\/p>\n

For the original hillside slope outside the red line, the design team repeatedly optimised the gradient and soil conditions to ensure safety and usability. The main slope gradient is controlled between 1:3 and 1:4, suitable for walking, sitting, lying, and gentle rolling, while avoiding the risks of high-speed grass sliding. After soil improvement, a wear-tolerant turf mix (Bermuda grass + ryegrass) is planted, maintained with 6\u20138 mowings per year, striking a balance between natural wildness and refined upkeep.<\/p>\n

The project does not pursue exaggerated forms or expensive materials; instead, it returns to simple design actions: removing physical barriers. This single action simultaneously addresses three issues: commercial spaces lacking natural experience, parks lacking vibrancy, and urban residents lacking an easily accessible “relaxation space” in daily life.<\/p>\n

There is an unobstructed visual corridor between the commercial street and the grass slope\u2014no tall shrubs, no fences, no billboards. The slope faces the street frontage completely openly, allowing direct views from the street up to the skyline at the slope’s crest and the active crowds. This not only creates visual transparency but also establishes psychological safety\u2014the shops naturally become the park’s “24-hour watchful eyes,” providing full sightlines during nighttime and late hours when few people are around, significantly extending the usable hours and inclusivity of the space.<\/p>\n

Through unobstructed design, visual interference on the grass slope\u2014such as high-mast lamps, installations, and signage\u2014is minimised, preserving the purity and openness of the slope. Green space is no longer just a colour block on a map; from plan to elevation, it transforms from flat, enclosed green infrastructure into an open landscape visible and perceptible as you walk along the street. Nature is brought into the urban commercial environment, making relaxation tangible.<\/p>\n

The commercial street circulation and park paths intersect and interlace multiple times, improving accessibility. By breaking away from functional zoning, we allow behavioural flows to naturally intertwine, enhancing both commercial conversion rates and park usage frequency.<\/p>\n

Throughout, there is minimal backtracking and seamless boundary-free transitions, allowing consumers to freely switch between commercial and natural states.<\/p>\n
