Landscape Collaboration：Situated in Patong Beach, landscape planning design for Four points Hotel aims to provide a series of individual landscape courtyards that create unique experiences for guests. Since project development planning creates two large courtyards; one is open to the sea and another is enclosed within the building compound, these contexts are unique in which the openness and closeness should be enhanced to their full potential.
Landscape design approach focuses on these two courtyards. The courtyard concept derived from the Sino-Portuguese courtyard design of the old shop house in Phuket where the courtyard became a gathering space and point of interest. The hotel was developed into two phases which started from the inside area development as a first phase then developed the second phase along the seaside area.

The courtyard at the first phase is developed with the idea of living in the coziness of landscape. Since the courtyard is formed by guest rooms, privacy is the main concern for the guests. The guests should have their privacy and yet have a great visual pleasure while they are staying in their rooms. With this context, water belts and green clusters were designed as a landscape spatial structure. Landscape design intended to create a long continuous water body that wraps around the entire courtyard.
Part of the water body was designed as pool accesses that are filtered by rush greenery along the pool area. These pool accesses not only provide direct access to various pool areas, but also provide the green buffer that enhances the continuity of the swimming pool along the entire building facade. Although the water body is unified, a variety of swimming pool features such as kids pool, lap pool, and leisure pool, are seamlessly integrated together with cozy green areas. Guests could simultaneously experience different landscape courtyards that interact with different swimming pool courts.
The open courtyard along the sea is developed with the idea of a visual continuity. After the development of the first phase, new parking requirements of hotel development are required. The only available area is in the center courtyard despite the fact that this is the best space that could connect to the sea. After a landscape space planning study, the best solution is using landscape to cover the parking structure. Therefore, the entire building was redesigned following the landscape spatial study. The parking structures were stacked down in multi levels in the basement. These parking stacks would allow the landscape and the new swimming pool to be built on top of the deck at the right height where it still allows visual connection from the inner landscape courtyard to connect to the sea.

While guests are arriving at the hotel lobby, the arrival space is enclosed with the open air lobby and the dramatic waterfall that comes from the landscape deck on top of stack parking. When they walk up to the lobby area, the guests could experience both the inner landscape courtyard with a large water body with feature trees and the open courtyard as a landscape deck where the horizontal skyline of the sea reveals.
On the landscape deck, the new infinity edge pool is located next to the seafront. The pool is elevated to cover the parking structure and create a vantage point of view above the local road that provides visual connection to Andaman Sea. The beverage bar pavilion is designed to be situated in the beach lounge on a water feature. The water feature along the beach lounge on the upper deck also cascades down to the front of the lobby which provides the dramatic effect for the arrival space.
At Four Points Hotel by Sheraton in Patong, the importance of visual connection and the hospitality experiences was carefully crafted and executed by landscape design. The openness and coziness landscape could be balanced and enhanced the senses of hospitality.
