大小景观：01.缘起

“如果想不清楚，就先别急，搁置，再想想。”
这是我们与昆嵛山国家级自然保护区业主长期合作建立的默契。“雾峰溪岸”，也是一次遵循这种默契的设计实践。

我们对于这片场地的思考已历经多年，但此前都因缺乏切实的依托而被搁置；直到那条关键的线索显现，设计才真正水到渠成。

Atelier Scale：Origin

“If things aren’t clear yet, don’t rush. Set it aside, and take time to think it through.”
This is a shared understanding built through years of collaboration with our client at the Kunyu Mountain National Nature Reserve. Mist Peak Terrace is precisely a design practice born from this mindset.

Our reflections on this site spanned years, yet previous ideas were continually put on hold for lack of a grounded foundation. It was not until that vital clue presented itself that the design unfolded, naturally and effortlessly.

02.场地的声音

昆嵛山的森之车站改造落成后，石门里的雾峰花海景点入口集散动线变得规整顺畅。唯独车站旁这片草坪林地，长期处于被搁置的状态。针对这片场地的后续功能，我们与业主展开多轮探讨：从最初构想的改造原房车营地，到后续设想过布置儿童游乐场所，方向几经更迭。但这类功能大多为脱离场地环境的凭空构想，缺乏与地形的内在关联，方案始终难以笃定推进。

与昆嵛山国家级自然保护区业主合作的这些年里，我们逐渐建立起一种默契：如果一处空间的归宿尚未清晰，就不急于仓促干预，留给场地足够的时间自然沉淀，等待场地呈现出最适合自己发展的方向。

Voice from the Site

Following the completion of the Forest Station renovation in Kunyu Mountain, the entrance circulation at the Wufeng Flower Valley in Shimenli became structured and fluid. Yet, the lawn and woodland adjacent to the station remained in a long-standing state of suspense. We engaged in multiple rounds of discussion with the client regarding the future program for this site—ranging from an early proposal to redevelop the existing RV campsite to a subsequent idea for a children’s playground. However, most of these programs were speculative interventions detached from the site’s immediate environment, lacking an intrinsic connection to the topography, which made it difficult to move the design forward with conviction.

Over years of collaboration with the client at the Kunyu Mountain National Nature Reserve, we have gradually cultivated a shared understanding: if the ultimate destination of a space is not yet clear, there is no need to rush into premature interventions. Instead, we allow the site sufficient time to naturally settle, waiting until it reveals the direction most tailored to its own evolution.

转机发生在森之车站的花海站点正式投入运营之后候，随着游客持续增多，通往花海的动线仍显迂回，旺季会存在约20米的人车混行，带来不便；而穿越草坪林地没有合适的穿行路径与停留平台，无法形成自然的通行路线。除此之外，候车区域缺少轻餐配套，整体的休憩服务功能存在短板，候车体验感还需提高。

The turning point came after the Flower Valley stop of the Forest Station was officially put into operation. Although the station itself was elegant, the surging volume of visitors exposed certain operational limitations. The route toward the flower fields remained circuitous, with a 20-meter stretch of mixed pedestrian and vehicular traffic during peak seasons that created safety concerns. Meanwhile, crossing the lawn and woodland lacked clear pathways or lingering platforms, preventing a natural flow of movement. In addition, the waiting area lacked light dining amenities, revealing a gap in overall rest and service functions that called for an enhanced visitor experience.

我们最后一次重返现场踏勘动线时，发现草坪尽头一处约6-7米高的悬崖挡墙，挡墙下方是长期被遮挡、无人利用的天然沟谷。业主的直觉也很敏锐，提议与其在平地上做加法，不如顺应这道悬崖挡墙，将人行动线引向沟谷。一番探讨之后，我们捕捉到场地蕴藏的可能性，这个思路打破了项目僵局。如果说房车营地、儿童乐园是向外试探的猜测式植入，那么沿着挡墙缓缓下潜、与沟谷展开对话的步行系统，则是场地本身传递出的清晰信号。

During our final site visit to re-examine the circulation, we noticed a cliff retaining wall about 6 to 7 meters high at the edge of the lawn. Below the wall lay a natural ravine—long obscured and neglected. The client had a sharp intuition, suggesting that rather than making additive interventions on the flat ground, it would be far better to work with this cliff wall and guide pedestrian flow down into the ravine. Following a thorough discussion, we captured the latent potential embedded within the terrain, breaking the deadlock of the project. If the RV campsite and children’s playground were speculative, outward-facing insertions, then a pedestrian system that gently descends along the retaining wall to engage in a dialogue with the ravine was the clear, unambiguous signal released by the site itself.

设计工作由此有序推进。首先切削、破除原有挡墙，适度开挖土方，打造一条向沟谷深处延伸、直达花海悬桥的下沉步道；继而利用开挖形成的天然高差，以分台的手法重塑地形，打造高低错落的停留平台；最后，在摆渡车站落客口的延展区域，顺应下沉地势，增设一处半嵌入式的咖啡馆，补充入口片区域缺失的休憩、轻餐饮功能。

The design work unfolded in an orderly manner. First, we cut into and removed the original retaining wall, excavating the earth in a measured way to create a sunken path that extends deep into the ravine, leading directly to the Flower Valley suspension bridge. Next, utilizing the natural elevation drops formed by the excavation, we reshaped the topography through terracing to craft stepped, layered platforms for lingering. Finally, along the extension of the shuttle station’s drop-off exit, following the downward slope of the land, we embedded a semi-submerged cafe to fulfill the missing rest and light dining services in the entrance area.

03.沟谷的重现

动线下沉改造后，人与沟谷的距离被拉近至两三米。河床的岩石肌理、四季的溪涧流水、水岸的丰茂植被，重新回到游客的视野范围。沿着下沉步道缓慢前行，视线尽头恰好可以框住昆嵛山山系主峰之一——雾峰山。这一片曾经被隔绝在挡墙之外的临谷台地，也因此被命名为“雾峰溪岸”。

Reappearing of the Creek

With the lowering of the circulation path, the distance between visitors and the ravine is closed to just two or three meters. The rocky texture of the riverbed, the seasonal flow of the stream, and the lush vegetation along the water’s edge are brought back into the visitors’ field of view. Meandering slowly along the sunken walkway, one’s line of sight frames precisely one of the main peaks of the Kunyu Mountain range—Mist Peak. Thus, this streamside terrace, once isolated behind the retaining wall, was named Mist Peak Terrace.

整个台地没有采用强烈夸张的形式干预，而是顺应地势呈阶梯状层层展开。坐阶、平台与步道相互交织，游客可以根据自身节奏驻足停留、远眺山景。这种下沉前行的过程，也是一场身心放松的过程：下车后的匆忙赶路，随着脚步逐级下沉慢慢放缓；水声由远及近，两侧绿意包围，停停走走间，自然而然融入了景区该有的松弛氛围。

The entire terrace avoids aggressive or exaggerated formal gestures, unfolding in stepped layers that adapt to the natural contours of the land. Benches, platforms, and pathways are woven together, allowing visitors to pause and take in the distant mountain views at their own pace. This descending journey becomes a process of physical and mental release: the hurry of getting off the shuttle naturally eases with each step downward; the sound of running water draws near, framed by lush greenery on either side, gently drawing people into the relaxed rhythm of the natural preserve.

动线延伸至沟谷身处，场地豁然开阔，数块巨大原生岩床裸现出来。我们顺势增设向水面继续下探的台地，打破了常规观景台与水体之间割裂、生硬的边界。游客不仅能远观溪流，还可以顺着台阶直达岩滩。

As the circulation path extends deeper into the ravine, the site opens up dramatically, revealing several massive, exposed native rock beds. Responding directly to this topography, we introduced terraced steps that descend further toward the water, dissolving the rigid, detached boundaries typical of conventional viewing platforms. Visitors are no longer restricted to observing the stream from a distance; they can descend directly along the steps to the rocky bed.

夏日里，常有游客会在这里褪去鞋袜，将双脚浸入清凉的溪水，俯身触碰汩汩的流水。这份直观、触觉上的亲水互动，让这条曾经隐蔽闲置的自然沟谷，重新成为了人们创造记忆的生动场所。

During the summer months, visitors often remove their shoes and socks here to submerge their feet in the cool stream, leaning down to touch the flowing water. This direct, tactile engagement with the water transforms a once-obscured and underutilized natural ravine into a vivid setting for collective memory.

04.临谷咖啡厅

游客从摆渡车站下车，沿台阶下行，穿过小巧的过渡庭院，便抵达崖边的构筑物——依势而建的临谷咖啡厅。建筑体量低调克制，不抢占自然景观，把主角位置交还山色与溪流。

建筑朝向沟谷完全打开，设计了进深充足的檐下灰空间与向外延伸的眺望平台。

The Creek Cafe

Alighting from the shuttle station, visitors descend along the steps and pass through a compact transitional courtyard before arriving at the cliffside structure—a creek-facing cafe built according to the natural slope of the mountain. The building’s volume remains low-key and understated, refraining from dominating the landscape and yielding prominence to the surrounding mountain views and flowing stream. Completely opening toward the creek, the structure features deep covered grey spaces beneath the eaves alongside cantilevered viewing platforms extending outward.

屋顶形态延续摆渡车站的错落反坡的设计语言，剖面结构根据功能精细化适配。主客区大跨开间拥有充足的净高，屋面坡度顺应山势朝向沟谷倾斜下沉，引导室内视线自然落向下方溪流与林间；备餐区小跨度屋面反向抬升，既为内部设备预留竖向空间，上扬屋面的背面被改造为一座可供人登临的候车甲板，紧邻的艺术地形，让等待接驳的游客拥有全新的俯瞰视野。

The roof form continues the articulated inverted-slope design language of the shuttle station, with its sectional profile meticulously adapted to internal functions. The large-span bay housing the main seating area features generous clear height, with the roof pitch sloping downward toward the creek following the mountain terrain, naturally directing interior sightlines toward the stream and woodlands below. Conversely, the smaller-span roof over the service area tilts upward, which not only accommodates vertical space for mechanical equipment but also transforms the reverse side of the rising roof into an accessible waiting deck. Adjacent to a sculptured landform, this platform offers waiting passengers a completely new elevated viewpoint.

我们希望这座建筑拥有从场地中自然生长出来的秩序感，室内选用质朴自然的材质，传递的感受是“我走入这片风景”，而非“打卡一家精致网红店铺”。“雾峰溪岸”开放之后，收获了超出预期的惊喜。运营方并没有做大规模宣传推广，进驻的咖啡品牌仅凭借着绝佳的临谷视野与自然松弛的氛围，迅速吸引了大量游客。人们自发地在社交平台分享在檐下听溪、凭栏望山的体验，这种仅凭真实体验触发的自发传播，短短一个季度，这里悄然成为烟台新晋的自然休闲目的地。

不追逐网红流量，不刻意堆砌造型，只是贴合场地，真实地容纳乐人的活动与情绪，让这座建筑和场地拥有了长久的生命力。

We intended for this building to possess a sense of order that emerges organically from the site. Natural, unpretentious materials were selected for the interior to convey the feeling of ‘entering a landscape’ rather than ‘visiting a trendy social-media venue.’ Following its opening, Mist Peak Terrace brought unexpected delights. Without large-scale promotional campaigns by the operator, the resident coffee brand rapidly attracted numerous visitors solely through its exceptional creek-facing views and relaxed natural ambiance. People spontaneously shared their experiences of listening to the stream under the eaves and gazing at the mountains from the terrace on social platforms. Driven entirely by genuine user experience, this word-of-mouth propagation quietly transformed the site into a new destination for natural leisure in Yantai within a single quarter. By foregoing trendy aesthetics and deliberate formal exaggeration in favor of aligning with the site and authentically accommodating human activities and emotions, the architecture and the land have been endowed with enduring vitality.

05.结语：时间的权重

“雾峰溪岸”的落地，没有依托设计宏大超前的构想，而是一系列适度回应场地的结果：业主在放弃了数个脱离场地实际的功能设想后，选择顺势而为的场地策划；而我们在理解场地剖面关系的基础上，以克制、适度的设计完成改造更新。这份“适度”的分寸感的背后，是设计团队与业主长达十余年持续磨合沉淀的信任与默契。

五年前，我们在《大小思考 | 慢一点儿》一文中写下这样一段话：

“我们常常提到：请慢一点儿，请给景观多一点时间。但在高速运转的项目周期里，设计与建设往往丧失了其本该具备的‘生物钟’。在追求快速传播与爆款的语境下，景观作品应有的深刻性与独立性常被忽略。身处这样的时代，我们一直在思考：如何以更富远见的视角看待我们的实践？大小景观在昆嵛山进行的生态设计实践，为这种思考提供了载体。这项庞杂的工作已经持续了六年，随着项目的建成与检验同步展开，我们发现，真正的实践才刚刚开始。”

时隔五年，我们在昆嵛山国家级自然保护区的实践，也迈入第十一个年头。从曾经闲置荒废的草坪林地、到重获生机的溪谷场地，这个项目再次印证了那个朴素的道理：如果一时想不清楚，不如先停下来，耐心听听场地的声音。

Summary

The realization of Mist Peak Terrace derived not from a grand, ambitious concept, but from a series of measured responses to the site: the client chose a context-sensitive programming approach after abandoning several functional ideas detached from site realities, while we executed the renewal through restrained, measured interventions grounded in a deep understanding of the site’s sectional relationships. Behind this sense of measure lies a decade of evolving trust and tacit understanding between the design team and the client.

Five years ago, we wrote in our article *Atelier Scale Thoughts | Slow Down*: ‘We often say: please slow down; please give landscape more time. Yet within high-speed project cycles, design and construction frequently lose their inherent biological clock. In a discourse dominated by fast-paced dissemination and viral popularity, the depth and independence that landscape works should possess are often overlooked. Living in such an era, we continuously reflect: how can we approach our practice with a more far-sighted perspective? The ecological design practices of Atelier Scale in the Kunyu Mountain National Nature Reserve have provided a vessel for this reflection. This complex endeavor has persisted for six years, and as construction and evaluation proceed concurrently, we realize that the true practice has only just begun.’

Now, five years later, our ongoing practice in the Kunyu Mountain National Nature Reserve enters its eleventh year. From an once-idle, neglected lawn and woodland to a rejuvenated creek valley, this project once again proves a simple truth: if clarity remains elusive for the moment, it is better to pause and patiently listen to the voice of the site.
