01 公交记忆 / Bus Memories

BK640,是中国第一款自主制造的公交车,诞生于1957年。在1959~1989年的30年间,它的服役范围覆盖了北京市80%的公交线路,堪称中国客车工业车型的鼻祖。

BK640 was the first domestically manufactured bus in China, created in 1957. Over the following three decades (1959-1989), it operated on 80% of Beijing’s bus routes and became the pioneering model of China’s passenger bus industry.

曾使用BK640车型的345路公交车,在漫长的岁月里是昌平通往北京市区的唯一公交线路。通过对BK640的造型进行拆解,融入新的功能型设计,使其变成一个多年龄段儿童和家长可以参与的趣味活动装置。而这个源自BK640老式公交车造型的趣味活动装置,于2024年5月,落地在设计翻新的北京昌平三角地公园。

The 345 Bus route, which utilized the BK640 model, was the only bus route connecting Changping to downtown Beijing for a long time. By deconstructing and redesigning the classic BK640 bus shape and incorporating new functional designs, it was transformed into an engaging activity installation that children of all ages and their parents can enjoy. This fun, bus-themed installation, inspired by the old-style bus model BK640, was installed in the newly redesigned Sanjiaodi Park in Changping District, Beijing, in May 2024.

02 设计缘起 / Design Origin

三角地公园,位于昌平区政府街西口,是昌平城区的西门户。这里曾经是昌平到北京市内唯一一趟公交车345路的始发站,承载了许多昌平市民的集体记忆,具有重要的历史和地理意义。这里也是自战国时期以来形成的京西北干路进入昌平城区的分支岔口,位置显要。

Sanjiaodi Park served as the western gateway to the urban area of Changping. It used to be the starting point of Bus Route 345, the only bus route connecting Changping to downtown Beijing, and holds collective memories of many Changping residents, thereby acquiring significant historical and geographical importance. Additionally, it is a key junction where the northwest trunk road, formed since the Warring States period, branches into the urban area of Changping, making it a prominent location.

1984年,这里曾经建成西关花园,内有荷花池、观景亭和儿童游乐园,是很多昌平人童年的游玩之地。然而,经过近40年的使用,公园设施陈旧老化、功能单一等问题逐渐凸显。因此,作为昌平政府街整体改造的一部分,昌平区政府于2023年启动了三角地公园更新改造工程。

北京林业大学园林学院,蔡凌豪工作室负责三角地公园的景观规划设计。以现代抽象的折线结构表现昌平的山体形态,以曲折溪流表现曾经滋养北京和大运河的昌平之水。选择345路公交车作为城市记忆的叙事主线,兼顾历史人文的表达和现代设计视觉的呈现。同时还构建了昌平之泉喷泉广场,乐活之环休闲环,健身长廊,漫步环道,公交车主题儿童区,代表不同历史阶段的公交站亭,折溪水景及铭刻昌平历史地名的昌平之门景观雕塑等特色节点,让公园与城市空间无界融合。

此次改造中,喜随设计有幸受邀参与了儿童区域的设计与深化工作。新的儿童乐园选址,也延续了1984年西关花园儿童乐园所在原址。

In 1984, Xiguan Garden was established here, featuring a lotus pond, a viewing pavilion, and a children’s playground, which was a popular place for many Changping residents to play during their childhood. However, after nearly 40 years of use, problems such as outdated facilities, aging infrastructure, and limited functionality gradually emerged. Therefore, as part of the overall renovation project for Government Street, the Changping District Government launched the Sanjiaodi Park renovation project in 2023.

The landscape planning and design of Sanjiaodi Park was carried out by the Cai Linghao Studio of Landscape Architecture College of Beijing Forestry University. The design uses modern abstract zigzag lines to represent the mountainous terrain of Changping, and winding streams to reflect the waters of Changping that once nourished Beijing and the Grand Canal. The 345 Bus is chosen as the narrative thread of the city’s memory, blending the expression of historical and cultural significance with visual presentation of modern design aesthetics. New functional areas were included within the design, such as the Changping Spring Fountain Plaza, Lehuo Leisure Loop, Fitness Corridor, Strolling Path, Bus-themed Children’s Area, “bus stops” representing different historical periods, a winding creek water feature, and the “Changping Gate” sculpture engraved with historical place names in Changping, creating a seamless integration of the park and urban space.

In this renovation, XISUI Design was tasked with designing the children’s area of the park. The new children’s playground is situated on the original site of the 1984 Xiguan Garden playground.

03 功能分区 / Functional Zoning

场地由一条连接外部人行道的通路,将活动区域划分为车头和车尾两部分。

The venue is divided into two functional activity areas—the front and rear of the simulated bus, separated by a pathway that connects to the external pedestrian sidewalk.

车头区:适合低龄儿童使用。设计内容上涵盖上肢、下肢力量锻炼(攀爬类),速度及重力体验(小滑梯、车档摇摇杆、方向盘转盘),平衡力练习(梅花桩),亲子互动(针画互动墙、传声筒),自我表达创作(沙坑、黑板),角色扮演体验(方向盘、驾驶副座),家长看护(仿公交座椅、单杠类器械)等。

The front area is designed for younger children. It includes facilities for upper and lower limb strength training (such as climbing facilities), speed and gravity experiences (small slide, gear shifter, steering wheel turntable), balance exercises (plum blossom stakes), parent-child interaction (pin art interactive walls, voice tubes), self-expression and creativity (sandboxes, blackboards), role-playing activities (steering wheel, driver’s seat), and parental supervision (bus-style seats, simple exercise equipment), etc.

车尾区:难度上倾向于兼顾刺激体验和家长亲子参与的全年龄段使用,包含上下肢力量锻炼(爬梯、爬绳),速度及重力体验(双人滑梯、蹦床、双人秋千椅、摇摇椅),亲子互动(传声筒、双人秋千椅、跷跷板),认知(翻转墙),地面游戏(跳房子)等。

The rear area is aimed at all ages, focusing on thrilling experiences and encouraging parent-child participation. Facilities include upper and lower limb strength training (ladders, climbing ropes), speed and gravity experiences (double slide, trampoline, double swing, rocking chairs), parent-child interaction (voice tubes, double swing, seesaw), cognitive games (flip wall), and ground games (hopscotch), etc.

04 安全处理 / Safety Measures

鉴于儿童场地临近街边,安全性成为设计的首要考虑因素。面向马路人行道的方位,有且仅设计有一个开口,允许该侧面向公众开放的同时,方便家长看护管理。也因此,开口附近的入口区域避免集中设置儿童设施,主要是作为串联前后场地元素的过渡,甚至倾向性地布置了树池座椅及可供家长压腿、单杠等的简易运动设施,以方便家长停留休憩、驻守于此,勇当门神。

Considering that the children’s area is close to the street, safety is the top priority. On the side facing the road’s sidewalk, there is only one opening designed, allowing public access while making it easy for parents to supervise. The entrance area near the opening avoids clustering children’s facilities and serves primarily as a transition space between the front and rear areas. Tree pool benches and simple exercise equipment, such as stretching areas and pull-up bars, are arranged, providing a place for parents to rest, relax, and supervise their children, taking on the role of guardian.

05 沿街画面 / Streetscape View

其次是沿街立面的处理,既得融入周边生活区的环境氛围,又需符合民众审美需要,成为沿街一抹亮色。活动设施高度被控制在树木乔冠层以下,掩映入自然绿树之中。色彩提取自BK640老式公交车的红白配色,如火般的赤红传递着热情的空间基调,呼应了街对面包子铺里的热气腾腾,和大爷大婶们来来往往的自行车铃。

Next comes the treatment of the street-facing facade, which should blend into the surrounding living area and satisfy the aesthetic demands of the public, becoming a bright spot along the street. The height of the activity facilities is controlled to be below the tree canopy, subtly merging with the natural greenery. The colors are inspired by the red-and-white scheme of the vintage BK640 bus, with the fiery red hue conveying a passionate spatial atmosphere that resonates with the steam rising from the bun shop across the street and the ringing bicycle bells of passing elderly residents.

06 历史印记 / Historical Imprints

尤其是街对面日夜运行中的公交车站,与设计场地作为老昌平公交汽车总站、昌平线始发站原址的历史背景,产生了跨越时间的对望。如今日复一日在街那边等待,搭乘公交车的当代人,可曾遥想几十年前,街这边的父母辈一代人正当韶华,在新中国蒸蒸日上、老北京翻天覆地变化的那个年代里等待、搭车时,该是怎样的风貌。

Especially the bus station across the street, operating day and night, creates a historical dialogue across time with the site, which was the original location of the old Changping Bus Terminal and the starting point of the Changping Line. Today, as people wait daily on the other side of the street to board a bus, do they ever imagine the scene decades ago, when their parents’ generation, in the prime of their youth, waited and boarded buses on this side of the street, during the era of China’s rise and the dramatic changes in Beijing?

07 公共属性 / Public Attributes

对于面向市民的开放空间的侧重,在材料、耐久性、性价比、可维护方面需要谨慎考虑。场地主体装置使用了镀锌钢作为原材料,氟碳漆喷涂防护。亲人材料方面选取了户外碳化竹木,保证材料的自然、环保与耐久。同时,在设计作品力所能及的叙事范畴下,以惊喜、趣味、参与感为介质,传递着源自当地的历史记忆。

When designing open spaces for the public, careful consideration is given to materials, durability, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability. The main installation uses galvanized steel as the primary material, with fluorocarbon paint for protection. For user-friendly materials, outdoor carbonized bamboo wood was selected to ensure naturalness, eco-friendliness, and durability. At the same time, within the scope of the design’s narrative, the work conveys local historical memories through elements of surprise, fun, and engagement.
