HOPE DESIGNAcclaimed as one of China’s eight most beautiful coastlines, Dapeng Peninsula enjoys an unparalleled natural geographical landscape encompassing lush forests, mountains embracing the sea, towering cliffs and scattered islands. Not only a significant window showcasing its tourism image to the world, the Dapeng coast also plays the roles of the vital base for local residents’ livelihoods and a key cornerstone for the high-quality development of ecotourism economy.

官湖东段海堤位于大鹏湾畔葵涌办事处官湖村,三面环山,南临大海,有着轻软细腻的洁白沙滩,清澈见底的原生态海水。作为半岛门户,官湖综合了大鹏自然和人文元素,具有良好的自然和文化基底,是临近大鹏唯一的创意文化区。

Situated in Guanhu Village of Kuichong Subdistrict around Dapeng Bay, Guanhu East section of the sea walls is surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing the vast ocean southward, where soft and delicate white sandy beaches coupled with crystal-clear pristine seawater stand out. As the gateway to the peninsula, Guanhu area merges natural and cultural elements of Dapeng district, boasting a solid foundation in both, and performs as the sole creative cultural zone nearby.

然而当地村民自建的浆砌石直立式挡墙旧海堤,建设标准低、安全隐患高,难以防御周期性的台风潮水破坏,对区域居民和游客生命财产安全造成威胁;海堤景观界面杂乱,附属配套设施不全等,影响海滩形象风貌和片区旅游经济效益。海堤亟需重建以预防频发极端天气事件的负面影响,提升片区海岸防御能力和滨海城市品质形象,保障区域民众生命财产安全及经济社会稳定发展。

However, the original locally self-constructed upright masonry sea wall poses significant challenges. Built without proper construction standards, it carries high safety risks and struggles to withstand the periodic typhoon and tidal surges, thereby threatening the safety of local residents and tourists. Moreover, the disordered seawall aesthetics and incomplete supporting facilities also have negative impact on the beach’s appearance and the economic benefits of the area. Urgent reconstruction of the embankment is in demand to mitigate the adverse effects of frequent extreme weather events, which is not only necessary in enhancing the coastal defense capabilities of the area while improving the profile of the coastal city, but also critical to safeguard the people’s lives, property and the stable socio-economic development of the region.

官湖东段海堤整治起点为官湖角,终点为乌泥河口。项目对挡墙结构强度和高程不满足防潮标准的海堤进行拆除重建,新建海堤长度为 1.172 公里,防潮标准为 200 年一遇,堤防级别为 1 级,设计堤顶高程 6-6.5m。

The sea dike renovation project starts from Guanhu Cape with the endpoint being Wuni River Mouth, which involves the demolition and reconstruction of sea walls that fail to meet flood prevention standards in terms of structural strength and elevation. The new embankment will feature a length of 1.172 kilometers capable of withstanding the once-in-200-year floods with a defense level of Grade 1 and a design top elevation of 6-6.5 meters.

官湖东段以“三重海堤·生态防护”为原则,通过多层级滨海堤坝步道及景观公共空间交错组合,打造多功能的韧性海堤安全防护系统。外堤——沙滩 + 抛石 + 单叶蔓荆等沙滩植被;海堤——阶梯型景观海堤 + 滨海步道 + 线性公园广场;内堤——海绵城市雨水花园 + 自然森林。

The Guanhu East Section adheres to the principle of “3-tiered Dike & Eco-Protection”, creating a multifunctional and resilient seawall safety protection system through a combination of multi-level coastal embankment promenades and landscape public spaces. The “Outer Dike“ comprises sandy beaches, riprap rocks and coastal vegetation such as Vitex rotundifolia. The “Sea Dike” consists of a stepped landscape seawall, a coastal promenade and a linear park plaza. The “Inner Dike” incorporates a sponge city rainwater garden and natural forests.

基于可持续的雨洪管理理念,项目在内堤设置海绵雨水花园,构成内堤雨洪滞留系统,有效治水和缓解越浪;堤坝错层景观种植平台,将生态景观融入堤坝设计,同时消弱堤坝的体量;为抵御极端气候危害,中堤设置 6 米高的水工挡墙,5 米高的高层步道还可让公众游走其间览山阅海。在外堤设置低层连续步道,步道同时也是休憩座椅;穿插的台阶让广场与海滩相连,人们可在此尽享滨海生活;原有沙滩得到保留,适当增设抛石;

Grounded in sustainable stormwater management principles, the project includes a sponge rainwater garden on the Inner Dike, forming a rainwater retention system to effectively control water and alleviate overtopping wave surges. Tiered landscape planting platforms on the embankment blur the boundary of ecological landscapes with the seawall design while visually reducing the bulkiness of the structures. To withstand extreme weather hazards, a 6-meter-high hydraulic barrier is set up on the Middle Dike, complemented by a 5-meter-high elevated pathway offering panoramic views of the mountains and sea to the public. A continuous lower-level promenade doubling as seating is laid out along the Outer Dike, punctuated by steps connecting plazas to the beach, allowing people to indulge in the full enjoyment of coastal living. The existing sandy beaches are preserved with additional riprap rocks strategically placed.

在靠近官湖角地块,用早期在沙滩上发现的单叶蔓荆专门培育打造主要沙滩植被,构成坚实外部防护系统,有效缓解越浪;堤坝错层景观种植平台,将生态景观融入堤坝设计,同时消弱堤坝的体量。

Adjacent to the Guanhu Cape plot, the dominant beach vegetation—Vitex rotundifolia, initially found right there—is cultivated to establish a robust external protective system that effectively mitigates wave surges. Tiered landscape planting platforms on the embankment blend ecological landscapes into the design while reducing the pressing feeling brought by the embankment’s mass.

双层堤坝形成的滨海线性公园,彻底打开滨海空间界面,连接外部村落社区与滨海岸线,为当地居民和游客活动提供重要公共场所;

The linear coastal park formed by the dual-layer seawall, thoroughly opens up the coastal interface while connecting the village community on the outer side with the shoreline, and hence furnishes a pivotal public space for locals and tourists.

高层步道加固堤坝主体,水工挡墙高标准防潮。错层生态景观取代栏杆,开放视野,让空间更有韵律变化;

The upper footpaths reinforce the major part of the embankment, ensuring high-standard tidal protection with hydraulic barriers. Layered ecological landscape planting replaces railings on the tiered platforms, bringing in views from afar and seasoning the space with rhythmic variations.

低层连续步道同时也是休憩座椅,穿插的台阶让广场与海滩相连,人们可在其间自由游走、览山阅海、尽享滨海生活乐趣。

The uninterrupted promenade on the lower level also serves as seating for relaxation. Interspersed steps stitch the plaza with the beach, allowing people to freely meander through places whilst appreciating the mountain and sea vistas, and fully immerse themselves in the joys of coastal living.
