Change Studio:Located in the Dayang area of Luyang District, Hefei, Yueying Qingchuan Park enjoys the rare natural resources of two major reservoirs—Dongpu and Dahuangying. The Yueying Qingchuan Community Park seamlessly integrates the natural textures of forest, water, and land, infusing the new residential area with subtle, tangible emotions and highlighting the rituals of daily life in Luyang District. Here, forests fringe the lakeshore, parks nestle beneath the canopy, markets thrive within the greenery, and vibrant life unfolds naturally. The park and reservoirs become companions of childhood, transforming the park from a scenic backdrop into an intimate part of everyday living.

The Flowing Grounds-cape
Within the city’s flowing textures, the irregular patterns between water and forest become the most captivating feature.By preserving the framework of mature trees at the site’s edges, the design aims to extend the sense of “flow”- from the distant landscape down to the paving underfoot; from the faraway natural scenery back to the everyday community life under the eaves; from the distant islands to the intimate micro-scenes where daily life unfolds, creating a dialogue between the grand park and the lived experience.

Along a 140-meter stretch, varied commercial “boxes” are embedded within undulating green islands. Transitions between horizontal planes and vertical layers soften the boundaries between commercial terraces and public walkways. Towering bald cypress trees partially veil the buildings, while light-toned eaves add a translucent, veil-like quality to the woodland streetscape. From the city’s edge, the layered views invite exploration.
Horizontal eaves and vertical trees compose a forested streetscape, where public and private sight-lines intertwine beneath the canopy.Diverse spatial needs coexist naturally, embraced by greenery.

Flowing Canyon Waterline
The east-west Waterline Garden acts as a vital corridor linking the two reservoirs and serves as a primary route for visitors. Water, as the defining spirit of the land, is magnified through transitions from planar to three-dimensional forms, offering nuanced experiences: natural dry streams, interactive leaping springs, serene reflecting rills, and sculpted cascading terraces- together weaving a multi-sensory journey across the park.

Dappled reflections weave a guiding carpet, evolving from visual recognition into emotional resonance—like the unfolding notes of a fragrance over time. The paving is divided into seven modular groups, each rotated in different directions, softening the ground’s natural texture and evoking the gentle meander of a river. At sunset, subtle surface reflections deepen the sensory experience, as if capturing and holding the passing footsteps of time.
This landscape is a celebration of nature’s enduring narrative. The fluctuating waterlines along the reservoir edges, the expansion of tree rings as saplings grow into giants, and the geological striations etched into stone—together these elements embody the lifelines of nature. Through growth-ring patterned stones (Bopo Yellow granite), mixed-age tree plantings, and the flowing contours of water terraces, the park captures nature’s energy, offering a quiet, therapeutic presence to all who wander here.

Flowing ground textures encircle green islands of varying scales—some open, some secluded, large or small. From the lively western entrance to the serene eastern heart, each island cultivates its own atmosphere—be it a water feature, a planted mound, a commercial hub, or an open lawn. Whether occasional visitors or daily residents, all can find their own “20-minute park effect” within this ever-changing landscape.

The Forest Deck Garden
Between the undulating green islands and commercial boxes, staggered platforms form meandering pathways. These overlapping decks provide abundant seating for casual social interaction and vibrant outdoor dining spaces. Where the canopy breaks, sunlight naturally filters onto the forest decks, transforming them into lively, sun-dappled gathering spaces.

The Forest Playbox
At the park’s northeastern corner, facing a bustling urban intersection, the joyful sounds of the park respond to the city’s din. Here, the largest green island invites visitors to recline atop rolling landforms. Artistic play structures are embedded into sculpted mounds, while light-toned eaves extend the language of the commercial street, adding mass and rhythm horizontally and shaping a dynamic silhouette along the park’s skyline.
Strolling aimlessly or simply sitting on a bench, soaking in the sunlight alongside the plants—the soundtrack is the birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves.Children laugh and run across the distant lawn, while elders gather under pavilions for music and conversation. These simple, heartfelt moments weave the poetry of daily life, just as poet Zhang Dinghao wrote in Park Episodes: “The ordinary sights of this unfamiliar park made us seem like true lovers, hand in hand, facing the vast and endless summer.”
