项目地块是宜昌夷陵区东湖大道城市更新项目的重要节点，周围有三条城市干道，一处滨河公园，其独特的区位价值在于以下四点：对于作为夷陵区商务政务形象大道的东湖大道而言，此处是东湖大道北侧的起点；对于城水相依、双向四车道的平湖大道而言，这里是重要的道路沿线界面；对于跨黄柏河的丁家坝大桥而言是跨江后的第一空间节点；对于锦江大道的学校而言，这里是重要的通过性节点；对于黄柏河滨河公园而言，这里是市民进入公园前等红灯的停留场所。地块南侧为烟草公司大楼，北侧与黄柏河滨河公园隔路相望，因此从纵向的城市绿化斑块而言，这里是从绿色滨河公园向城市过渡的一个街角空间。
The project plot is an important node of the urban renewal project of Donghu Avenue in Yiling District, Yichang. It is surrounded by three urban arteries and a riverside park. Its unique location value lies in the following four points: For Donghu Avenue, which is the image avenue of business and government affairs in Yiling District, this site is the starting point of the north side of Donghu Avenue; For Pinghu Avenue with bidirectional four-lane which is adjacent to the city and water, it is an important road interface, ; As for Dingjiaba bridge across Huangbai River, it is the first spatial node after crossing the river; For the school of Jinjiang Avenue, this is an important passage node; For Huangbai Riverside River Park, it is a stop place for citizens to wait for the red light before entering the park. The south side of the plot is the tobacco company building, and the north side is across the road from the Huangbai Riverside Park. Therefore, from the perspective of longitudinal urban green patches, this is a corner space from the green Riverside park to the city.

-现状解读-Site Analysis
原场地被浓密的多层次绿化围合，场地内列植棕榈树，由于缺乏养护呈现衰败迹象。内场为功能上的临时停车空间，周边人群的临时过道空间。作为双向三车道19米宽的政务型大道东湖大道一头一尾两大节点中的重要节点，随着东湖大道的整体更新改造，该地块的现状已经无法满足城市功能的需求，亟需提升。
The original site, surrounded by dense multi-layered greenery and planted with palm trees, is showing signs of decay due to lack of maintenance. The infield is a functional temporary parking space and a temporary aisle space for the surrounding crowd. As an important spot of the starting node and the end node of East Lake Avenue, a two-way, three-lane, 19-meter-wide government-oriented avenue, with the overall renewal and transformation of East Lake Avenue, the current situation of the plot has been unable to meet the needs of urban functions and needs to be improved urgently.

-设计挑战-The Challenge
小身材大责任。
在这块长75米不等，宽25米的场地中，我们要实现以下目的：
1. 完成其作为道路形象界面的功能，遮挡局部已经老旧的城市建筑立面的同时保证视线通透；
2. 满足城市人流快速通过的要求，根据现场观察，每日黄昏落日之前，会有来自锦江大道中小学的放学人流，而日暮时分会有大量人群通过此处的人行横道前往平湖大道马路对面的滨江公园锻炼。作为重要的路过节点，为市民提供一个快速、安全、有效，但又能偶尔停留的开放城市空间，是使用功能上的第一要求。
3. 完成其作为东湖大道北侧起点使命，让其具有一定的故事性，与东湖大道的文化意义相融合，可被阅读、被感知。东湖大道（平湖大道-夷兴大道段）作为一条商务政务大道，全长500米，仅有一头一尾两处街角花园。整条东湖大道的红线宽26米，路幅宽19米，两侧地下埋有大量城市管线，无法种植大树，打造常规意义上的林荫大道。正因为此，作为东湖大道北侧的起点的街角花园，显得尤为重要，需要被赋予一定的文化内容。
Small size, big responsibility.
In this 75-meter long and 25-meter wide site, we want to achieve the following objectives:
1. Complete its function as a road image interface, shielding part of the old urban building facade while ensuring a transparent view;
2. To meet the requirements of rapid passage of urban pedestrian flow, according to on-site observation, before sunset every day, there will be school flow from Jinjiang Avenue primary and secondary schools, and at sunset, there will be a large number of people through the crosswalk here to Binjiang Park across the road from Pinghu Avenue for exercise. As an important passing node, to provide citizens with a fast, safe and effective open urban space, but can occasionally stay, is the first requirement in the use of functions.
3. Fulfill its mission as the starting point of the north side of East Lake Avenue, make it have a certain story, integrate with the cultural significance of East Lake Avenue, and can be read and perceived. East Lake Avenue (Pinghu Avenue – Yixing Avenue section) as a business and government avenue, a total length of 500 meters, only one end of two corner gardens. The whole East Lake Avenue is 26 meters wide, and the width of the roadway is 19 meters. There are a large number of urban pipelines buried underground on both sides, and trees cannot be planted to create a conventional boulevard. Because of this, the corner garden, as the starting point of the north side of the East Lake Avenue, is particularly important and needs to be given certain cultural content.

夷陵区的名字来自“水至此则夷，山至此则陵”，夷与陵，就是山与水的形态表达，作为代表夷陵区商务政务形象的东湖大道，自然是要将山与水铭刻其上，所以我们把山的形态赋予东湖大道的北端，让山的能量为我们重新规划场地。
Small street corner, big energy.
The name of Yiling District comes from “the water here is Yi, the mountain here is Ling”, Yi and Ling, is the form expression of the mountain and water. As the representative of the Yiling District business and government image of the East Lake Avenue, the mountain and water should be engraved on the site. So we give the form of the mountain to the north end of the East Lake Avenue, let the energy of the mountain for us to re-plan the site.

– 山的裂变与交通的捷径 -Mountain fission and traffic shortcuts
我们用更有力量感的构成，让“山”从场地中生长出来，产生场地的肌理，让原本随机的交通方式，在满足人快捷通行习惯的前提下，形成了场地的步行体系。
We use a more powerful composition to make the “mountain” grow out of the site, generate the texture of the site, and make the original random transportation mode form a walking system of the site under the premise of satisfying people’s quick passing habits.

自成体系排列的树阵为裂变后的山形提供了林下树荫空间，也为城市道路提供了绿色森林界面，也承接了自黄柏河绿道而来的休憩功能。
The self-arranged tree array provides the shadow space after mountain fissure, provides the green forest interface for the urban road, and also carries on the rest function from the Huangbai River greenway.

-空间设计-Space Design
场地犹如大地艺术般呈现出了山的意向，山的形态被缩微在这个小空间中，成为可被驻足解读的场地内容。
“山”荡漾于“水”面之上，给行人留出足够的安全通行空间的同时，为夜晚的蓝色泛光留出了空间。我们选择了夷陵连绵山峦中海拔700米以上的高山，将其镌刻于山形之上：棋盘山海拔722米，绝壁栈道十里长廊；青山峰海拔890M,巨石穿洞， 称之”南天门”；毛公山海拔1047M,三峡坝区的制高点；大王岩海拔1134M,高耸入云，悬崖陡壁；百里荒海拔1297M荒烟几家聚，瘦野一刀田；天柱山海拔1445M,孤峰峙立，拔地耸立；黑良山海拔1792M,黄柏河水系发源地。
Like land art, the site presents the intention of the mountain, and the form of the mountain is miniaturized in this small space, becoming the site content that can be interpreted.
The “mountain” ripples above the “water”, leaving enough space for pedestrians to pass safely while leaving room for the blue flood light at night. We chose the mountains above 700 meters above sea level in Yiling District, and engraved it on the mountain fisshion shape: Qipan Mountain is 722 meters above sea level, the cliff boardwalk ten miles long corridor; Qingshan mountain is 890M above sea level, and the huge stone is pierced, called the “South Gate”; Maogong Mountain is 1,047m above sea level and is the commanding height of the Three Gorges Dam area; Dawangyan is 1134M above sea level, towering into the clouds, cliffs and steep walls; Bailihuang is 1297M above sea level, a few families gather, thin wild a knife field; Tianzhu Mountain is 1445M above sea level, the lone peak, Shi, standing; Heiliang Mountain is 1792M above sea level, the birthplace of Huangbai River system.

山的形态呈现自场地拔起的姿态，于两山之间形成“平原”，是为呈现夷陵地图的地雕，穿出于林下花境之间，成为一个个小而美的休憩空间。
The shape of the mountain presents the gesture of pulling up from the site, forming a “plain” between the two mountains, which is the ground carving to present the map of Yiling District. It runs through the flower border under the forest, becoming a small and beautiful rest space.

在微尺度下，山的有序褶皱，成为了场地中的休憩长椅，为等候红绿灯的行人，为路过的孩子与家长，提供了别样的街角空间。
On a micro scale, the orderly folds of the mountain become a sitting bench in the site, providing a different corner space for pedestrians waiting for traffic lights, and for passing children and parents.

作为东湖大道的北侧起点，代表夷陵的二字的拼音文字以深渊镜的方式嵌入在山的肌理定义出的绿地之中，成为东湖大道入口的第一视觉焦点。
As the north starting point of East Lake Avenue, the two-character pinyin characters representing Yiling are embedded in the green space defined by the texture of the mountain in the way of an abyss mirror, and become the first visual focus of the entrance of East Lake Avenue.

-细节设计-The Details
大块面的的花岗岩石料为场地带来了雕塑感和力量感。精确加工的不锈钢嵌石文字、不锈钢地灯、深渊镜互动装置为场地注入了精致的细节，形成了一个场地可被阅读、场所精神可被感知的街角空间。
The large slabs of granite give the site a sense of sculpture and power. The precision-machined stainless steel inscriptions, stainless steel floor lamps, and abyss mirror interactive installations inject exquisite details into the site, forming a corner space where the site can be read and the spirit of the place can be perceived.

这样的一个街角空间，但因为特殊的地理位置，超越了常规意义上的路过停留空间，他被赋予了山的形态与意义，充满力量感的街角林下空间，让下学的孩子，有了一处可以探索玩耍的场所，让等红灯的行人可以有临时落脚的地方，让匆匆行人有快速通行的捷径且通过的同时感受不一样的城市风景。
Such a corner space, due to its special geographical location, transcends the conventional space of passing and staying. It is endowed with the form and meaning of a mountain, and the powerful space under the corner forest provides a place for children to explore and play, and a place for pedestrians waiting at the red light to temporarily stay. Let the hurried pedestrians have a quick shortcut and feel the different city scenery while passing.
