怡境：蜀桑万亩，吴蚕万机。湖州是名副其实的“丝绸之府”，据史料记载，从三国六朝起，经唐、五代十国、宋、元奠定基础，至明清形成格局，咸丰元年更是走出国门，成为欧洲皇室服装面料。湖州保利堂悦，以画传“丝”韵，以仕承“丝”风，以山水绘“丝”形，以古乐绎“丝”意，以期释义“千年湖丝”的风华清靡，再现“丝绸之府”的文化内核。

GVL：As “the Capital of Silk”, Huzhou has been well known for its silk production since ancient times. According to the historical records, its reputation began in the Three Kingdoms and Six Dynasties, developed in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Song and Yuan Dynasties, and boomed in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the first year of Xianfeng Dynasty, Huzhou silk was exported to the Europe and was popular among the royal families. The design of Huzhou Poly Tangyue is inspired by the four charms of silk, expecting to interpret the silk culture of Huzhou City.

湖州丝绸有四千多年历史，自唐以后一直是历代贡品，清皇室内务府更是规定，凡皇帝后妃所穿“龙袍”、“凤衣”必须用“辑里丝”织造绸缎。

With a long history of more than 4,000 years, Huzhou silk has served as royal tributes since Tang Dynasty. In Qing Dynasty, the clothes of the emperors, the queens and the imperial concubines must be made of Jili sillk of Huzhou, which is now world-renowned.

湖州保利堂悦空间韵律：藏、露、顿、挫。从落客区进入环形体验馆，自镜面水景区至八音草坪，通过疏密争让的布局手法，狭长形的空间得以容纳不同的旨趣。

Huzhou Poly Tangyue follows the musical rhythms to hide, expose, pause and transit spaces. When entering the ring-shaped experience center, visitors can have an thorough view of the long and narrow space which is well arranged with the mirror waterscape and the music lawn.

韵：以画传“丝”韵  Silk Charm in Painting

丝自茧抽。作为入口第一个空间，环形体验馆外壁以茧作饰，内里仿形蚕茧，中植大树“破茧而出”，《千里江山图》绕墙展开，以玻璃橱窗作隔离，整体空间合而不闭，显而不露，人于室内，可观自然天光，可赏壁上古画，俯仰皆有妙趣。

As the welcoming space at the entrance, the outer wall of the ring-shaped experience center is decorated with cocoons and the interior space is designed in the shape of a cocoon. A big tree stands high in the center, just like a silkworm gets out of the shell. The grand painting “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” unfolds around the wall, allowing people to enjoy the beautiful natural views and painting through the glass vitrines.

环形体验馆  Ring-shaped Experience Center

《千里江山图》由宋徽宗指点王希孟而作，咫尺有千里；辑里湖丝为帝王御用品，丝丝绣乾坤；设计者巧以画韵入丝魂，用一方小天地实现一个兼具传统情怀和现代趣味的过渡空间，这是以小见大的奇思，亦是删繁就简的妙想：试想方圆天地间，唯一树、一画，置身其中，神思该何等沉静自由？

A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains was painted by Wang Ximeng under the instruction of the Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty. The designer has combined the painting with the silk, creating a transition space which integrates traditional experience with modern fun. Simple but elegant design with a tree and a painting enables visitors to experience great tranquility and freedom.

雅：以仕承“丝”风  Silk Charm in Academy

湖丝衣天下，翰林传千年。辑里湖丝细、圆、匀、坚、白、净、柔、韧，一丝可悬八枚铜钱而不断；翰林风雅不媚俗、不虚妄，在案牍劳形之外，尚留有可探究的雅人情志。春芳草盈阶觉闲适，茶烟几缕得自在，心有所往，事事皆坦荡。

Jili Silk is famous for its fineness, softness, whiteness and malleability, which can even bear the weight of eight ancient copper coins; the Imperial Academy advocates grace and elegance and spurns vulgarity and vanity. Spring flowers, green grass and tea vapour create a cozy atmosphere which allows people to find their inner peace and freedom.

丝线的形态不只融入“山”“水”里，还有各式小品、雕塑和空间的肌理中。
The form of silk not only shows in mountains and waters but also applies in the design of decorations, sculptures and spaces.

形：以山水绘“丝”形  Silk Charm in Landscape

湖州的山，是天目山；湖州的水，是太湖水；湖州的丝，是辑里湖丝，“应似天台山上明月前，四十五尺瀑布泉”。真山真水有真奇妙，而艺术化处理的山水别有一番美感。一如董其昌在论及真山真水与山水画之区别时说的，“以境之奇怪论，则画不如山水，以笔墨精妙论，则山水不如画。”

Huzhou is famous for Mount Tianmu, Lake Taihu and Jili Silk. Natural mountains and waters are wonderful and marvellous, while the artificial hills and lakes also have their own beauty. Dong Qichang, one of the most influential painter and calligrapher in Ming Dynasty once said that, “The paintings is inferior to natural landscape in miraculous effect but superior to it in creative skills.”

意：以古乐绎“丝”意  Beauty of Mountains and Rivers

镜面水景区为礼宾之地，浓墨重彩，仕风盎然；八音草坪为休憩之所，简以致用，丝竹悦耳。由密而疏，由动而静，由放而收，空间回归至空灵、纯净，主色调依旧是青白山水色。

The mirror water welcomes the visitors with a graceful and elegant atmosphere. The music lawn provides an ideal place for relaxing and enjoying melodies. With natural landscape as the background, the well-organized space allows people to get close to nature.

丝，有形无声；乐，有声无形。把辑里湖丝的八大特点（韧、匀、细、坚、净、圆、柔、白），演绎成古乐八音（竹、丝、土、匏、金、石、革、木），丝便有了声音，乐也有了形态，八音女应此而生，八音草坪亦因此得名。

Silk is visible but silent, while music is invisible but audible. The designer has interpreted the eight characteristics of Jili Silk by musical instrument in ancient orchestra (bamboo, string, gourd, metal, clay, stone, leather and wood). In this way, silk can be heard and music can be seen. That’s why the eight music ladies come into being and why the lawn is called the music lawn.

八音女的形态源自唐代簪花仕女图，艺术化处理后以现代的材料呈现，如博物馆珍品陈列于玻璃展示柜中，洁白无瑕若湖丝，高贵矜持亦若湖丝。

The eight music ladies are originated from court women in the paintings of Tang Dynasty. Created with modern materials and displayed in the vitrines, the images of the music ladies look exquisite and elegant.

八音草坪既是展览空间，亦是休憩之地，还可用于举办派对。
The music lawn serves not only as the exhibition area but also as the place for relaxation and parties.

古画之韵味、翰林之风雅、山水之形态、古乐之意趣，解构古丝四韵的过程，也是构建此项目的过程。设计的本质是为人们更美好的生活而服务，湖州保利堂悦想告诉人们的正是：行遍江南清丽地，人生只合住湖州。一座能终老的城，无所谓繁华都市，无所谓历史名城，而是它留得下历史，承载得住未来。

The charms of Huzhou silk are successfully interpreted by paintings, academic atmosphere, landscapes and ancient music. Designed for a more beautiful life, Huzhou Poly Tangyue shows us that Huzhou is an ideal place for habitation. It is a city for all ages, not because of its prosperity or reputation but because it has connected the past with the future.
