Atelier Partero：Garden like a painter’s canvas. A palette of soft pastel tones plays on the clear format of the garden, the water surface impressionistically shimmers in the background. An impasto of stone tread marks the thick lawn like a brush into a thick layer of paint. But we are not looking at a landscape painting, we are looking at a small urban garden. No painters live here, but the owners are definitely art lovers.
这座周末住宅的花园距离特尔奇广场很近，就位于小镇历史中心后方，保护区的边缘。鳞次栉比的房屋相互开放，共享池塘边的花园空间，各个花园之间仅用低矮的帆布栅栏隔开，充满了怀旧气息。设计的任务是为这个仅有一棵树的空旷花园注入活力，但同时也要保留这个空间的邻里关系和社交属性。
因此，我们在创建私人空间的同时，并不想将一切都隐藏起来。我们既为游客留下一些探索的视线，同时也考虑善于交际的邻居，由此打造一些私人角落，让业主可以安静地阅读，欣赏如诗如画的水景。
The garden at the weekend house is located a short walk from the square in Telč. We are on the edge of the conservation area, in the back wing of the historic centre of the town. The terraced houses share this garden space on the banks of the pond in mutual openness, the individual gardens nostalgically separated only by low canvas fences. Our brief was to breathe life into a completely empty garden with one existing tree, but also to preserve the neighbourly, communicative character of the space.
So in looking for private places, we don’t want to hide everything. We will leave something to the curious eye of the tourist, not forgetting the sociable neighbours, while finding a few private corners where one can read in peace and enjoy the picturesque view of the water.

These two modes, open and private, are also found in the garden thanks to the fact that it is quite small and divided into three levels. The highest terrace is accessed from the house, so the garden is also composed for the view from above – from the entrance and from the windows of the house.
中间一层被改造成一个大露台，供人们在花丛中休憩。它具有通往柴房的实用功能，并具备未来在其中增添水景的潜力。
The middle level is transformed into a large terrace for sitting in a flood of flowers. It also has a practical function – access to the woodshed, and hides a beautiful plan for the future – the addition of a water feature in one of the beds. The bamboo hedge makes the bench in this corner a real privet.
楼梯引导我们来到最底层。这一层是花园中面积最大、也最重要的一部分，有一块环形草坪和边界植物、一座木制花园小屋以及通往池塘岸边的大门。
The stairs take us to the lowest level. This part of the garden is the largest and the main one – with a circular lawn and border planting, a wooden garden house and access to a gate to the pond bank.

It all looks so natural, but it wasn’t from the start.
Given the brief and the constraints of the conservation area, we approached the design very sensitively. The existing elements deserved only subtle adjustments and refined additions.
我们拆除了露台之间的栏杆，在打开空间的同时使其更好地连接。我们也使用新的涂料，使栅栏和房屋的色调更灰暗，看起来不那么显眼。此外，我们除了保留草坪中现存的梨树外，也为原来的旧石槽在花园中找到了一席之地。
We removed the railings between the terraces, which nicely connected and opened up the space. Thanks to the new paint, the fence and the house look less pronounced and more grey. In addition to the existing pear tree in the middle of the lawn area, the original old stone troughs have found a place in the garden.

Stone played an important role in the project – it served both for the creation of living areas and as an artistic element. The stonemason did a truly excellent job, and the paving is as beautiful as in the historic core of the city.
花园中的石块区域形成了一个清晰的框架——圆圈、露台和小径牢牢地抓住了空间的概念，让业主可以自由地“游园”。因此，在这里增加花坛和种植不同的植物不会产生破坏性影响。即便如此，花园的维护工作还是相当少，毕竟主人只是在周末才会来这里。除了竹子、树篱和绣球花，花坛里还种植了色彩柔和、质地细腻的多年生植物和香草。
The stone areas in the garden set a clear framework – the circle, terraces and paths hold the concept of space so firmly, giving the owners freedom to ‘garden’. Thus, here the interventions of adding beds and different planting have no destructive effect. Even so, the garden is fairly low-maintenance – after all, the owners really only come here on weekends. In addition to bamboos, bird’s-beak hedges and hydrangeas, the beds use a mix of perennials and scented herbs of soft colours and delicate textures.
这里有无数个可以坐下来阅读或喝咖啡的地方，如树荫下的草地、秋日阳光下的台阶、中央露台的桌边或长椅上。

There are countless places to sit for reading or coffee – in the shade in the grass under a tree, in the rays of autumn light on the steps, at a table on the central terrace or on one of the benches.
This garden is really like a work of art in a gallery – today we have shown it to you with a description in all its glory, as if at an opening – and then everyone can admire it at least from the corner of their eye, the public from the footbridge, the neighbours looking over the fence, the visitor directly from the house… And for the experts – its owners – the garden hides a few private secrets, private reading corners or a gate to the pond, which you can use to get directly to the pier; perhaps in winter on skates!
