无之设计:杭州,南宋遗韵的沉淀之地,骨子里流淌着文人隐逸的血液。灵隐寺山下的天竺路,自古便是禅意与诗意的交汇处。元古观山选址于此,恰似一场跨越时空的约定——南宋临安的繁华早已褪色,但山间古道、苍苔石阶、疏钟暮鼓的余韵仍在。天竺路303号,隐于灵隐寺与北高峰之间,既避开了尘世喧嚣,又与千年古刹的佛性气息共生。此地曾是明代隐士李茇的岣嵝山房旧址,张岱笔下“冷绿万顷,人面俱失”的幽深意境,与元古追求的“自然、拙朴”不谋而合。杭州的山水肌理,在此处化作人文与自然的双重皈依,元古的落地,仿佛是对这座城市隐逸传统的当代回应。
WUZHI Design: Hangzhou, a city steeped in the legacy of the Southern Song Dynasty, carries within its veins the spirit of scholarly seclusion. Tianzhu Road, nestled at the foot of Lingyin Temple, has long been a confluence of Zen and poetic inspiration. The siting of Yuangu Guanshan here feels like a rendezvous across time—the splendor of Lin’an during the Southern Song has faded, yet the ancient mountain paths, moss-covered stone steps, and the lingering echoes of temple bells and drums remain. Located at No. 303 Tianzhu Road, between Lingyin Temple and North Peak, the retreat is shielded from worldly clamor while coexisting with the spiritual aura of the ancient temple. This site was once the location of the Gou Lou Mountain Retreat, a haven for the Ming Dynasty recluse Li Ba. The profound tranquility described by Zhang Dai as “endless cold green, where human faces vanish” aligns seamlessly with Yuangu’s pursuit of “natural simplicity.” The landscape of Hangzhou here becomes a dual sanctuary of culture and nature, and Yuangu’s presence feels like a contemporary response to the city’s tradition of seclusion.

元古观山的建筑,是自然笔触下的水墨长卷。三层独栋小院依山而建,背倚北高峰的苍翠,面朝灵隐溪的潺湲,左右茶田如梯田般层叠舒展。设计师以“借景”为魂,将山峦、溪涧、竹林、荷塘悉数纳入画框。春日茶芽初绽,夏时荷叶田田,秋日栗香漫野,冬雪覆瓦如絮,四时之景皆成诗行。庭院中,定制木桌随意散落,与古桥、苍苔、修竹共构“采菊东篱下,悠然见南山”的闲适画面。建筑外墙以原木与白墙为主,既似元代山水画的“平淡天真”,又与山色浑然一体,让人的视线不自觉投向远方的层峦叠嶂,完成一场与自然的无声对话。
The architecture of Yuangu Guanshan unfolds like an ink-wash scroll painted by nature itself. The three-story standalone courtyard is built against the mountain, backed by the verdant North Peak and facing the murmuring Lingyin Stream, with tea fields cascading like terraces on either side. The designer, guided by the principle of “borrowing scenery,” incorporates the mountains, streams, bamboo groves, and lotus ponds into the visual composition. Each season paints its own verse: tea buds in spring, lush lotus leaves in summer, the aroma of chestnuts in autumn, and snow-covered tiles in winter. In the courtyard, custom wooden tables are casually arranged, forming a serene tableau with ancient bridges, moss, and bamboo, evoking the idyllic scene of “picking chrysanthemums under the eastern hedge, gazing leisurely at the southern mountains.” The building’s exterior, clad in raw wood and white walls, mirrors the “plain innocence” of Yuan Dynasty landscape paintings, blending seamlessly with the mountain hues and drawing the gaze toward the distant peaks, fostering a silent dialogue with nature.

从入口处的小桥流水开始,空间便以“起承转合”的节奏展开。青苔石阶蜿蜒而上,如《溪山行旅图》中的山径,每一步都暗藏玄机:低处的涧溪声若隐若现,中庭回廊光影斑驳,高处的露台豁然开朗。设计师利用地势高差,将三个楼层串联成“登高悟禅”的序列——一楼吧台的长木桌与古树相映,二楼茶室借窗框景,将远山裁剪成画;三楼露台则彻底敞开,山风裹挟茶香扑面而来。开窗设计尤具匠心:或窄如竖幅,聚焦一株孤松;或横贯墙面,收纳整片竹林;或斜切天光,让阳光在室内游走如笔锋。移步异景间,空间不再是容器,而成为引导观者发现自然之美的禅意路径。
From the entrance, where a small bridge spans a flowing stream, the space unfolds in a rhythm of “beginning, continuation, transition, and conclusion.” Moss-covered stone steps wind upward, reminiscent of the mountain paths in Travelers Among Mountains and Streams, with each step revealing a hidden detail: the faint murmur of a stream below, the dappled light in the central courtyard corridor, and the expansive view from the upper terrace. The designer leverages the terrain’s elevation to connect the three floors into a sequence of “ascending to enlightenment.” The long wooden table on the first floor mirrors an ancient tree, the tea room on the second floor frames distant mountains like a painting, and the third-floor terrace opens completely, allowing mountain breezes carrying the scent of tea to greet visitors. The window designs are particularly ingenious: some narrow as vertical scrolls, focusing on a solitary pine; others spanning horizontally to capture an entire bamboo grove; and some angled to let sunlight dance across the interior like brushstrokes. As one moves through the space, it transforms from a mere container into a Zen path guiding visitors to discover the beauty of nature.

灵隐寺的晨钟暮鼓,为元古观山注入灵魂深处的空灵。室内陈设极简至极:拙朴的陶罐、素麻桌布、拼接百家布的软垫,皆是对禅宗“无住”美学的致敬。吧台后的长窗正对灵隐寺方向,雨日云雾缭绕时,山寺轮廓若隐若现,宛若倪瓒画中的“逸笔草草”。菜品亦融入禅意——二十四节气甜点以时令食材为媒,如“雪耳百合团子”以银耳模拟积雪,暗合“本来无一物”的清净。在此,饮一盏茉莉红茶,听檐角风铃轻响,世俗纷扰渐次剥离。元代禅僧明本曾作《四居诗》抒写隐逸之志,而今日的元古观山,恰以空间为诗,让每位访客在佛境山色中,寻得“即心即佛”的片刻顿悟。
The morning bells and evening drums of Lingyin Temple infuse Yuangu Guanshan with a profound sense of tranquility. The interior is minimalist to the extreme: unadorned clay pots, linen tablecloths, and cushions stitched from百家布 (hundred-family cloth) pay homage to the Zen aesthetic of “non-attachment.” The long window behind the bar faces Lingyin Temple, and on rainy days, when mist shrouds the mountain, the temple’s outline emerges faintly, reminiscent of Ni Zan’s “carefree brushwork.” The menu also embodies Zen—seasonal desserts, such as “Snow Ear and Lily Dumplings,” use ingredients like silver fungus to mimic snow, echoing the Zen concept of “originally, there is nothing.” Here, sipping jasmine black tea and listening to the soft chime of wind bells, worldly distractions gradually fade away. The Yuan Dynasty Zen monk Mingben once expressed his longing for seclusion in Poems of Four Dwellings, and today, Yuangu Guanshan uses space as poetry, allowing each visitor to find a moment of enlightenment amidst the temple’s aura and mountain vistas.

元古观山,是建筑与山水的一场联姻,是人文与禅意的一次共鸣。它不似朱庄那般雕梁画栋,亦不似岣嵝山房那般遗世独立,却在当代语境下,以极简之笔重绘了杭州的隐逸基因。当山风穿堂而过,檐角铜铃轻颤,此地便成了都市人暂避尘嚣的桃源——不执着于形,而归于心。
Yuangu Guanshan is a union of architecture and landscape, a resonance of culture and Zen. Unlike the ornate Zhuang Manor or the reclusive Gou Lou Mountain Retreat, it reinterprets Hangzhou’s tradition of seclusion in a contemporary context with minimalist strokes. When mountain breezes sweep through the halls and copper bells chime softly at the eaves, this place becomes a modern-day haven for urban dwellers seeking respite—a retreat not bound by form, but rooted in the heart.
