Ldesign landscape architectural company：Baufeld 108 is an architectural project of an open quarter with high-quality multi-story residential housing, located in the Elbbrücken district of Hamburg’s HafenCity.
Baufeld 108 is characterized by the use of new climate technologies with a high quota of social housing in an architecturally exceptional building project. The project must consider the planned use of residential and additional childcare facilities, as well as other commercial purposes on the ground floor and mezzanine, and be integrated into the surrounding neighborhood from a design perspective.

The thirteen-story and seven-story buildings are connected by a single-story common structure, forming a semi-open inner courtyard with direct access to the Baakenkai waterfront and Amerigo Vespucci Platz. The courtyard space boasts the use of ecological materials and a large green area. Green elements, a combination of different types of planar coverings, create diverse relaxation and play zones.

The courtyard landscape has a scenic structure formed by complex green elements and a combination of various types of coverings, resulting in diverse, flowing spaces for relaxation and play. The project provides integrated access to the courtyard from the street and buildings. The central area of the courtyard features a large children’s playground enclosed by a wooden slat fence. The centerpiece of the playground is a ship-like installation on a podium, surrounded by a play area bordered by green plantings. Along the northern part of the residential complex, there is an alley that will serve as a café terrace.

Shade structures with a heavy wooden frame and integrated green roofs are located within the landscape, along with radial non-standard seating. Residents will also have benches built into the raised lawn for relaxation.
