AART：City Club is the best window to observe city quality and the spirits of citizens. As they wish, Shenzhen Bay No. 1 establishes Shenzhen’s first international membership club, the Shenzhen Bay Club. With the purpose of “Quality Life · Knowledge Life”, it provides a more open, equal and free communication space for business and social interaction, allowing people to experience a noble and elegant social and club lifestyle. It can be seen that professionalism, texture, and art are the key to shape the “quality life” in terms of purpose. But is the spirit of “knowledge life” the final destination for our art creation and thinking of this club. At the same time, based on the internal gene and project art products in Shenzhen Bay No. 1, the “fish” element, related to wetland ecology and ocean-sky landscape, is still the first choice. Then, what is the form of the “fish” element can be realized to reflect the space? How does it connect to the spiritual core of the art products and site? The spirit of the Shenzhen Bay Club’s ‘Knowledge Life’ has given us creative inspiration.
“We believe that ‘Knowledge’ is a kind of desire to make friends. ‘Zhi’ means friends and ‘le’ is the joy of meeting a friend. People gather at the Shenzhen Bay Club, through communication, they are inspired and talk about their dreams, which provide infinite power into the city. This is the purpose and value of the establishment of the Shenzhen Bay Club. Therefore, we finally chose the element of fish in the ocean as the design concept of the art products. The fish population is endless, and the convergence of the situation is very compatible with the vision of the Shenzhen Bay Club. Through it, we have found the link between the artwork and the spiritual core of the Shenzhen Bay Club, and thus completed the art creation.”

‘迁徙的鱼群’ The Migrating Fish
Weaving art is one of the oldest Chinese folk art, and also an indispensable labor tool for coastal fishermen’s life. It is a reflection of the close relationship between human beings and the sea. The inspiration for the hanging art in the atrium of the Shenzhen Bay Club is derived from the traditional cultural elements of Guangdong – Yulou. The traditional method of weaving creates an intertwined hollow shape, with light and shadow hanging in the air. The product gives a transparent visual experience, like a piece of dancing music playing the harvest movement.
To restore the best visual experience, we fully simulated the pedestrian path under the artwork. After many times of selecting and optimization, we chose to use one of the oldest Chinese folk arts in the shape of the fish body – the weaving technique of Yulou. The “fish” is deployed along the moving arc of the rising of the fish and accompanied by light and shadow hanging in the air. The heights are different with the ups and downs bringing a transparent visual effect to the viewer.
