UAD：The current planning and construction of urban space often pays attention to the construction of material elements, while ignoring the construction of non-material elements, so that the historical memory of urban space is lost, people’s sense of belonging and identity to the site is reduced, and urban culture and spiritual emotions are lost. Ningbo Hefeng society renewable research starts from the theory of space narrative, based on the current situation and problems of space, from point to surface, and takes humanisation, low-carbon and digitalization as the three-dimensional value basic coordinates, and applies the spatial narrative theory in urban renewal. To improve the quality of the space, so that there is communication and resonance between the space and people.
项目背景 Background of the project
The future community of He Feng in Minglou Street, Yinzhou District, Ningbo is an old community with a long history and cultural heritage, surrounded mainly by residential, commercial and office land. The base is a narrow and single L-shaped site, about 150m long and 8m wide on average, formed naturally after giving way to the west side of the site.As a result of the traditional community service model, which has a relatively fragmented network structure and a lack of interaction between multiple actors, there are currently several problems, such as “backward community building”, “single spatial function and insufficient vitality” and “lack of characteristics and vague cultural identity”.
▽改造前场地现状 Site status before renovation
In line with the trend of building future communities, Hefeng Street intends to unify and update its original service centre building, as well as the surrounding ancillary buildings, to suit the needs of future life. Combining the theme of the future community service centre with the “textile” design elements derived from the local history, the project proposes the design concept of “a hundred years of Hefeng has been developed due to the textile, and the future life has been created due to the lattice structure”. It is hoped that the design will incorporate Interactive, low-carbon, digital and cultural elements through a white mesh lattice weave, creating a typical living scenario of the future community.
▽生活场景 Life scenes
人本化场景 Humanized scenes
The design relies on the lattice grid and constantly emphasises the design concept of “lattice park”. Starting from the functional scenario and based on the actual functional needs, various functional spaces are arranged in the form of a community living room. The five living rooms, namely the Welcome Living Room, the Dating Living Room, the Playing Living Room, the Sports Living Room and the Living Room, in order from the southern entrance, the roof garden and the Neighbourhood Centre, fully solve the problem of insufficient space for daily socialising, entertainment and sports for the people around the community.
The ‘Lattice Park’ is not only a ‘living container’, but also an ‘aesthetic porcelain’. Supported by the curatorial team of the Ningbo Urban Memory Lab (NUML) at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, the ‘Lattice Park’ is transformed into an open exhibition space. By retracing Hefeng’s local history and culture, and imagining the future city and community, NUML has embedded cultural installations into different spatial interfaces. The exhibits and art installations, which carry the memories and culture of Hefeng community, are within easy reach, provoking residents to think about the city, their homes and memories. It brings visual, interactive and aesthetic pleasure to the resdebts passing by, and maximising the park’s spatial utilisation and humanistic appeal.
▽开放性展览空间 Open exhibition space
▽和丰慢行步道 He Feng slow walking trail
Turning the community service centre, a functional institution, into a neighbourhood centre space where every community member is happy to visit, breaks the stereotypical influence of the community management model, promotes communication between government services and residents, and between residents and residents, and opens up new possibilities for community living patterns.
▽人本化场景 Human oriented scene
生态化场景 Ecological scenes
During the design process, the use of technology to maintain the ecological environment in the project became the focus of thought, mainly in terms of energy sustainability and material sustainability. In terms of energy, plants and structures are organically integrated, and all planting modules are connected to an intelligent management system, which enables precise maintenance through real-time data monitoring. At the same time, some interactive play equipment has been introduced, such as an interactive tempered glass lighting keyboard, which is transformed by human input to form perceptible elements of wind, light and sound, enhancing the experience and giving more vitality to the site.
▽可持续的空间场景 Sustainable space scene
In terms of materials, discarded items and discarded bricks and stones from the old renovation process are used to fill the assembled latticework. In the western entrance area, recycled old industrial looms and other objects are used as landscape vignettes, and a photo wall is used to narrate the century-old history of Hefeng.
数字化场景 Digital scenes
The process of upgrading from a community service centre to a neighbourhood centre is also a process of optimising community service functions. The new community service centre is no longer just a passive provider of services, but also a proactive participant in community management.
▽社区服务大厅 Community Service Hall
The community relies on the internet platform to establish a series of cloud-based service systems, and the terminals of the service systems are considered by this renewal project and are naturally integrated into the space. For example, the green plant detection system in the common areas not only beautifies the outdoor environment, but also supports plant maintenance more effectively by monitoring indicators such as temperature, humidity, air flow rate and carbon dioxide concentration in real time through sensors.
▽自然生态的雨水花园 A natural and ecological rain garden
▽街巷市集 Street fair
The Ningbo Hefeng society renewable research is a community public space enhancement practice that balances economy, implementation, participation and green ecology. The practice uses the theoretical approach of spatial narrative, incorporates the historical heritage of Hefeng, emphasises the interactive experience between people and the environment, adopts a green ecology and environment-friendly construction method, and implants efficient, intelligent, technologically innovative facilities and equipment as well as the indelible place memory of the Hefeng community, presenting a high-quality scene of future community public life and providing new ideas for the micro renewal of community landscape in the future.
