USAD：Zhongjian Zhidi Zero Carbon Park is located in Gongchen Street, Fangshan District, Beijing. To the east is the Liangxiang Campus of Beijing University of Technology, to the north is the Yinyue Residential Area of China Construction Zhidi University, and to the south is the Fangshan Line of the rail transit. The surrounding public resources are abundant.
The park covers an area of 2476 square meters and is a municipal public green space. Carbon neutral is one of the most popular global terms aimed at mitigating climate change. Zero carbon “is not about not emitting carbon dioxide, but about calculating greenhouse gas (mainly carbon dioxide) emissions, designing solutions to offset the” carbon footprint “and reduce carbon emissions, achieving” zero carbon “- that is, zero carbon emissions. Zero carbon parks aim to provide citizens with a medium to promote green development and sustainable urban construction. Thus promoting the popularization and application of zero carbon concept in society.
The exterior facade of the energy-efficient building adopts high-tech solar photovoltaic panels. The building is divided into three floors, with a zero carbon exhibition hall on the first floor, a zero carbon exhibition gallery on the second floor, and a zero carbon interactive experience room on the third floor. Here, we provide services for community residents to participate, aiming to enhance their awareness and support for a zero carbon lifestyle.

The site is in a long east-west strip shape, and the design divides the spatial form according to the proportion of the zero carbon building facade. From east to west, it is divided into rainwater garden, dry spray square, natural lawn, and stepped grandstand.

On the east side is the direction of the main stream entering the park. In order to guide the flow of people more conveniently and interestingly, three parallel roads with different scales and feelings have been designed. The municipal pedestrian system shuttles through the small paths in the rainwater garden and the fitness trail sheltered by the wind and rain corridor.

雨水花园 RAIN GARDEN
Shallow concave green spaces excavated manually are used to collect and absorb rainwater from the surface and buildings. Through the comprehensive action of plants and sand, rainwater is purified and gradually infiltrated into the soil, conserving groundwater, or replenishing urban water such as landscape water. Provide ecologically sustainable flood control and rainwater reuse.
The use of local indigenous plants can improve the survival rate of plants, while also combining with the planting of perennial flower borders commonly used in r gardens, such as iris, fine leaved mango, and chicory with high purification ability. Purification of rainwater through soil and plant filtration can also reduce the maintenance cost of future rainwater gardens.The gabion wall made of recycled glass revitalizes waste materials. Combine the park logo to form a display interface.

The top surface of the landscape corridor also uses solar photovoltaic panels, including all lighting fixtures in the park that use solar photovoltaic power generation. The solar energy collected during the day provides electricity for landscape lighting at night to reduce energy consumption. According to the elderly care function of the building, aging fitness facilities and rest seats have been set up under the corridor.

旱喷广场 Dry Spray Square
The Dry Spray Square is located on the central axis of the park, serving as a hub for pedestrian flow. It utilizes the active atmosphere of dry spray to gather popularity. Attracting nearby residents, the square also provides a platform for elderly activities, and resting seats are set up under the ginkgo tree array on both sides for people to stay here for a long time. The side near the rain garden uses recycled aggregate concrete materials to simulate the natural mudflat through artistic abstraction, and the gradual relationship of different water depths brings different waterscape experiences. The water splashes falling along the gabion wall provide a wonderful melody of nature.

阳光草坪 Sunshine Lawn
The sunny lawn serves as a blank space, and the light and shadow of large trees are painted on the lawn. The staircase stands connected to the west resemble the natural flipping of the lawn, making the space unobstructed at a glance. The composite lawn space provides a platform for various activities. The artistic sculpture “Light Volt Tree” at the end serves as the visual focus, with each branch equipped with solar photovoltaic panels that grow southward to help collect more electricity.

Exercise equipment combines the principle of kinetic energy generation to increase fun, allowing people to generate electricity while exercising, thereby attracting more attention to zero carbon technology.
Global warming is the consequence of human behavior causing climate change on Earth. Carbon “refers to natural resources composed of carbon elements such as oil, coal, and wood. Carbon is consumed much more, and the culprit of global warming, carbon dioxide, is also produced much more. With human activities, global warming is also changing (affecting) people’s lifestyles, bringing more and more pollution and natural disasters. I hope to enhance public environmental awareness and behavior habits through the design of zero carbon parks, and promote the penetration of zero carbon concepts into people’s hearts.
