Hoerr Schaudt：The SandRidge Energy Commons improves downtown Oklahoma City by inserting an inviting public space into the urban core that is sheltered from the area’s renowned strong winds and high temperatures.

SandRidge wanted their new headquarters property to provide an open “commons.” In order to make the space habitable, Hoerr Schaudt intensively studied prevailing wind and temperature patterns and shaped landforms and planting designs that would shelter the space in harmony with these variables. The result is an outdoor area—one of the few in Oklahoma City—that is enjoyed all year as a public park.
