DONGDA (SHENZHEN) DESIGN CO., LTD.：Everyone has a piece of nature in his heart, and has a natural closeness and goodwill to green nature. Tibouchina Garden is such a place. It is not large, without flowers and too many artificial plants, just a few easy gravel roads through the forest, the wild miscanthus grows freely, sunlight through the gaps between trees into the forest. Here, you can feel the natural story of a tree, a flower and a bird. The park follows the concept of returning to nature in the design concept, material use, plant collocation and effect presentation.
▽一片绿意盎然 Full of green
▽绿色、自然的整体氛围 Green and natural overall atmosphere
1.关注自然资源价值 Focus on natural resource values
In 2020, Shenzhen proposed the plan of “Mountain and Sea Linked Cities”, that the large system of nature and city will be upgraded to better construct the relationship between human and nature. Create a charming ecological space framework of “One ridge, one ribbon and twenty corridors”, with integration as the goal, connect as a method, to construct a city-level ecological recreation network. Among them, the Hiking Trail is based on the natural scenic resources such as mountain, coast, river or wetland . It connects important urban nodes, historical buildings and natural landscapes, and connects the hiking route formed by ecological belt and coastline.

Tanglang Mountain – Dasha River – Shenzhen Bay Shanhai Corridor from north to south, not only connects Tanglang Mountain natural country park, Dasha River ecological corridor and Shenzhen Bay coastal leisure belt, but also is an important part of the longitudinal line of the 260km east-west hiking trail in Shenzhen, is a model of “One ridge, one ribbon and twenty corridors” Mountain and Sea Linked Cities spatial planning.
The focus of the construction of mountain and sea corridor is to find out the break point of corridor and connect it. According to field investigation, the Chaguang section of Dasha River Ecological Corridor is separated from the undeveloped Honghualing area of Tanglang Mountain Country Park by Zhuguang North Road, with a straight-line distance of less than 150 meters. Moreover, the former site is a dilapidated building materials market, which can be transformed into a public space with connected conditions.

2.自然之园，野趣之美 The garden of nature, the beauty of wild interest
The plot covers an area of about 2800 square meters, with Dasha River on the west side and Tanglang Mountain on the east side, which is a transitional area connecting the city and nature. The site is occupied by building waste materials, making the space passive and inaccessible.
▽场地现状 Site status
Tanglang Mountain has a lot of natural rocks, rich forest form, a variety of animals and plants living here. The design of Tibouchina Garden continues the natural elements of Tanglang Mountain and creates an exquisite gateway to the countryside. The whole park follows naturalistic principles, using a low involvement and reverse engineering approach, emphasis on returning to the natural ecology. The park takes green as the main tone, the trails and service facilities are interspersed with the green in colors and forms that blend with nature. Aiming at the major problems of weak publicity of the site, large height difference, narrow and long base, and serious surrounding interference. The solution strategies of building open entrance, suture height difference transition, integration into functional facilities, strengthening peripheral connection are put forward.

Respecting the existing elements of the site, the plantain forest planted by local farmers and some native plants were retained and combed. In combination with the location of plantain forest, a new understory breathing space is formed by setting up roads.

The plants adopt the near natural ecological community collocation, mainly including the existing local plant varieties in Dashahe and Tanglang Mountain. From the west to the east side, the fern garden transition to dense forest planting, continue the wild interest of Dasha River planting, followed by Tanglang Mountain plant community. In space, terrain and plants are used to reduce the negative impact of high walls on the north and south sides of the site.
▽两侧地形处理 Terrain treatment on both sides
The upper layer is decorated with sparse mountain forest trees, creating a space atmosphere from the city into the forest. In terms of varieties, chinese tallow and sterculia with elegant and natural shapes are mainly used. The middle and lower ground covers are mainly foliage and flower viewing plants, and the varieties are myrtle, asplenium nidus, silver hairy wild peony, kidney fern, dryopteris auriculata and pennisetum with natural form and no need of manual pruning. The ground cover adopts the wild plants near Dasha River and the characteristic mountain forest plants on the west side of Tanglang Mountain, and the planting form is natural infiltration and multi variety mixed planting instead of the conventional ground cover planting method with obvious boundary, creating a green patch from urban wild interest to mountain forest trails.

After repeated comparison and selection, the pavement starts from ice-cracked granite to small stone, and finally the gray schist embedded with grass is selected to reflect the natural ecology.

The Handmade Trail is constructed in the form of hand-made, without concrete and machinery, to keep the ecological environment of the original road as far as possible, retain the existing characteristics of the forest, and maximize the effect of harmonious coexistence between human and nature. At the junction of Zijianyuan and Tanglang Mountain Country Trail Demonstration Section, there is a hard retaining wall, which is inaccessible to people. The design adopts the combination of gentle slope and the Handmade Trail, which connects to Tanglang Mountain Hiking Trail. The road surface is artificially built with natural stone, so that the road is perfectly integrated with the environment.

3.社会和生态价值 Social and ecological values
Social value: After the completion of Tibouchina Park, it marks that the first mountain sea corridor of ountain and Sea Linked Cities、the park’s Shenzhen theme – Tanglang Mountain Dashahe Shenzhen Bay Corridor has been fully connected. It is not only the connection of roads, but also the link for citizens to understand and get close to nature, and the natural place for science popularization and education. We hope everyone can create their own stories in nature by observing animals and plants, experiencing Handmade Trail, painting, playing games and so on.
▽老师带领儿童亲近、认识自然 Teachers guide children to get close to and understand nature
Ecological value: The design adopts the construction mode of light intervention and low impact, maximize the preservation of the current tree and ecological background. And through ingenious design, the tree becomes an important part of the space, which not only maintains the original ecological environment of the site, but also creates a rich shady space. The green-based site space, together with Tanglang Mountain Forest Park, plays a positive role in the urban ecological balance. It can maintain the balance of urban oxygen and carbon dioxide, purify air, reduce noise, regulate climate, store precipitation, reduce surface runoff, and provide food and habitat for birds and insects. It has important ecological significance.
